Amit Shah Congratulates Security Forces, J&K Administration For Keeping Amarnath Yatra Safe

Curated By : Last Updated: August 11, 2025, 23:18 IST Union Home Minister Amit Shah (Image: PTI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated all security forces, Amarnathji Shrine Board, Jammu-Kashmir administration and voluntary organisations for their contribution in making the annual Amarnath Yatra safe and smooth. The yatra began on July 3 and was scheduled to conclude on August 9 on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. However, authorities decided to shorten it by a week due to heavy rainfall and its impact on the yatra route. In a post on X, Shah said more than 4.14 lakh devotees visited the holy Amarnath cave shrine, reflecting the unbroken tradition and faith of Indian culture. " I congratulate all the security forces, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, Jammu-Kashmir administration and voluntary organizations for their contribution in making this pilgrimage safe and smooth." 'The contribution of all of you in making this holy pilgrimage successful was commendable and unique. May Baba Barfani keep his blessings on everyone," he added. ॐ नमः शिवाय!भारतीय संस्कृति की अटूट परंपरा और आस्था की प्रतीक श्री अमरनाथ जी की पवित्र यात्रा में इस वर्ष 4.14 लाख से अधिक श्रद्धालुओं ने बाबा बर्फानी के दर्शन किये। इस यात्रा को सुरक्षित और सुगम बनाने में अपना योगदान देने के लिए मैं सभी सुरक्षा बलों, श्री अमरनाथजी श्राइन बोर्ड,…— Amit Shah (@AmitShah) August 11, 2025 The Amarnath Yatra is an annual Hindu pilgrimage to the sacred Amarnath Cave Shrine, dedicated to Lord Shiva, located at an altitude of about 3,888 meters in the hills of Jammu and Kashmir. The cave houses a naturally formed ice Shivling, believed to represent Lord Shiva, and draws lakhs of devotees every year. However, the yatra was affected by heavy rainfall in Jammu and Kashmir, which rendered the roads unsafe. Authorities announced that the yatra would be suspended from August 3 due to the need for track maintenance along both the Baltal and Pahalgam axes of the route. A woman pilgrim died while three others sustained injuries on July 16 in a landslide incident along the Baltal route of the Amarnath Yatra in Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir. Moreover, four pilgrims were washed downhill by a landslide at Railpathri along the Baltal axis to the holy cave. This year, following a major terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, the government deployed the highest number of troops ever for the annual yatra. In addition to the already extensive security presence in Kashmir, around 600 extra companies of paramilitary forces were assigned specifically for duties. 'If Anything Happens...': Indore Man Fits CCTV On His Helmet As Protection

Last Updated: The man, who was seen with a CCTV camera on his helmet, alleged that he and his family were being threatened with death by their neighbours over a property dispute. In a bizarre spectacle, a man in Indore's Gauri Nagar was seen roaming the streets with a helmet fitted with a huge camera, to reportedly protect himself from repeated threats following a property dispute. The man seen with a CCTV camera on his head alleged that he and his family were repeatedly being harassed and threatened with death by their neighbours over a property dispute. He said his family is being assaulted repeatedly by these people. Despite filing several police complaints, the police have taken no action against the accused, who want to seize their property. 'We've pleaded for protection. When nothing happened, I decided to record everything, everywhere I go," he said on camera. 'They want to seize our house. I appeal to everybody to help send these people to court for required action," he said. 'Even the police do not help, and instead they threaten and attack us when we approach them." The man said the helmet camera is his 'shield", saying the desperate step was needed to record the activities of his neighbours. 'If anything happens to me or my family, at least there will be video evidence," he said. Viral videos show him walking through his neighbourhood, wearing black headgear with a small mounted camera, sparking outrage online. Police officials have confirmed that the dispute between the families is still ongoing and has already led to physical confrontations, according to NDTV. 'We have tried to mediate between the parties. The case is being reviewed, and any new facts will be taken into account," said a senior officer. Delhi Weather Updates: Capital To Brace For Hot Week As IMD Says Rains Unlikely Soon

Last Updated: The IMD said a rise in maximum temperatures by 4-5 degrees Celsius is likely during the next five days in Delhi, with slim chances of rainfall. Delhi Weather Updates: Delhi and other parts of northwest India are bracing for the summer heat ahead as monsoon rains are unlikely for the next week, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). According to the weather agency, a rise in maximum temperatures is likely by 4-5 degrees Celsius during the next five days in Delhi. The national capital can see up to 42-44 degrees on June 10 and 11, after which it will come down to 40-42 degrees on June 13 and 14. A mainly clear sky will be seen on June 8, 9 and 10, after which a partly cloudy sky is likely over Delhi from June 11-14. IMD forecasts show rainfall activity in the region beginning only after a week, bringing respite from the intense spell of heat. Delhi almost touched a maximum temperature of nearly 40 degrees on Saturday and a minimum temperature of 27.6 degrees, with a maximum humidity of 70%. It is likely to touch 42 degrees on Sunday, although it will not see a heat wave condition. Temperatures crossed 40 degree-mark in Safdurjung, Palam, Lodhi Road, Ridge area and Ayanagar, the latter recording the highest temperature at 42.1 degrees Celsius. The temperatures are likely to touch 44 degrees Celsius by Tuesday (June 10), making it the hottest week this season. The highest temperatures recorded in the national capital so far is 42.3 degrees on May 16. This is expected to be among the final bouts of extreme heat before the monsoon advances further across other regions of India. Most parts of the country have seen an unusually cooler monsoon, with parts of Noida, Greater Noida, New Delhi and other parts of the NCR region witnessing frequent dust storms and bouts of rainfall. Generally, the monsoon covers a major part of India by June-end and the entire country by July 8. Meanwhile, air quality in Delhi declined to the 'poor" category with an AQI of 209, leading the Commission for Air Quality Management in the NCR to promptly enforce Stage 1 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) as a preventive measure against rising pollution levels. Meanwhile, an intense heatwave has intensified its grip over Rajasthan as the maximum temperature in several places was recorded above the 40-degree mark on Saturday, the Jaipur Meteorological Centre said.
