Kevin Feige Confirms Marvel's Next Big Move and Teases Three More Phases Coming — GeekTyrant

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is far from slowing down. If you thought Avengers: Secret Wars would be the end of an era, you're right, but it's also just the beginning of the next big chapter. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has confirmed that the studio is already hard at work mapping out the future of the MCU, and it's going to be massive. Feige recently revealed that Marvel isn't just planning the next phase, they're planning an entire saga. For those keeping track, that means three more phases are on the way. Feige said: 'I mean, we're working on the next… A saga's three phases, so we're working on the next three right now. But really, the first one of the next saga is directly impacted by what we're doing right now with these movies and Secret Wars.' So, where does that leave us? The current Multiverse Saga wraps with Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027, and according to Feige, Marvel has a seven-year plan that stretches all the way to 2032. That means Phase 7, and probably beyond, is already being sketched out behind the scenes. This long-term roadmap likely includes major projects fans have been waiting for, like the introduction of the X-Men into the MCU. One of the biggest questions fans have had is whether all those Multiverse Saga post-credit teases, like Harry Styles as Eros and the debut of Hercules, will pay off. Feige addressed this saying: 'There are plans for some and there are opportunities for all. It's about finding what the right… what the right moment is. Some maybe we'll never see again. 'Some maybe we'll see soon. Some maybe it'll be like Tim Blake Nelson, you know, 17 years in between. Who knows? 'What I love about it is it's as much about the actors as it is about the characters. It's as much about our enthusiasm, excitement to work with those actors, which is how almost all those came about, but to see where they go. 'But we will not alter a storyline just to include them simply because they have been seen in the past.' So, just because a character pops up in a post-credit scene doesn't mean they're guaranteed a major role anytime soon. Marvel is prioritizing story over fan service? But, they introduced them in the first place, so it's their own fault that these characters are just left hanging. Feige also touched on something that will make longtime fans raise an eyebrow: recasting classic characters like Iron Man. While it's not happening tomorrow, the idea is very much on the table: Marvel wants these iconic characters to live on, even if that means new actors stepping into legendary roles. Whether that happens in the next saga or way down the line remains to be seen, but it's clear Marvel sees the MCU as an ever-evolving universe rather than a closed book. Look, Marvel Studios isn't going anywhere. With plans reaching into the early 2030s, three brand-new phases on the horizon, and the promise of new sagas shaping the future of the MCU, fans are looking at at least another decade of superhero storytelling. The next saga officially kicks off after Secret Wars , and while Feige isn't revealing details yet the MCU's future is going to be just as ambitious, interconnected, and surprising as ever. What do you want to see in Marvel's next saga? Souce: CB

AVENGERS: SECRET WARS Will 'Reset,' Not Reboot, the MCU, Acording to Kevin Feige — GeekTyrant

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to undergo one of its biggest shake-ups yet, and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has made it clear that Avengers: Secret Wars isn't wiping the slate clean with a reboot, it's resetting the board for the future. If you're familiar with the 2015 Secret Wars comic by Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribić, you know where this could be heading. That story opened with a chilling line: 'The multiverse is dying. Only two universes remain. Today, earths collide.' What followed was a massive incursion event between Earth-616 and Earth-1610 that obliterated both realities, forcing Marvel's heroes and villains into an entirely new existence. It ended with an epitaph: 'The Marvel Universe 1961 — 2015. The Ultimate Universe 2000 — 2015.' Could a similar moment close out the MCU as we know it? With The Fantastic Four: First Steps arriving on July 25th to kick off Phase 6, and Avengers: Doomsday (2026) leading into Avengers: Secret Wars (2027), Feige recently spoke to press about what comes next for a franchise that's already spanned 37 movies and raked in over $32 billion. 'We're utilizing [Secret Wars] not just to round out the stories we've been telling post-Endgame, just as importantly — and you can look at the Secret Wars comics for where that takes you — it very, very much sets us up for the future. Endgame, literally, was about endings. Secret Wars is about is about beginnings.' That's a big statement, especially considering what the comics did. In Hickman's saga, Doctor Doom seizes godlike power, builds Battleworld from the wreckage of countless universes, and rules as God Emperor Doom. By the end, Reed Richards defeats him and restores the multiverse, ushering in an 'All-New, All-Different' Marvel era. That reset allowed characters like Miles Morales, Old Man Logan, and legacy heroes such as Jane Foster's Thor and Sam Wilson's Captain America to coexist alongside classic icons. Feige hinted the MCU is heading down a similar path. But he's adamant this isn't a start-over: 'Reboot is a scary word. Reboot can mean a lot of things to a lot of people. Reset, singular timeline — we're thinking along those lines.' That 'reset' means a fresh chance to integrate other characters like the X-Men into the MCU's primary timeline, which is something fans have been waiting for since Disney acquired Fox. Feige confirmed as much, revealing that the X-Men reboot directed by Jake Schreier will launch the post-Secret Wars era, officially recasting Marvel's mutants after their final appearances in Doomsday and Secret Wars . He also teased that other icons could eventually be recast, including Iron Man: 'I think it's hard for anybody to do that when an actor has done such a great role. 'How are they going to ever replace Sean Connery [as James Bond],' right?' So yes, Robert Downey Jr. might someday pass the torch… again. Phase 6 kicks off with The Fantastic Four: First Steps on July 25, 2025, followed by Spider-Man: Brand New Day (July 31, 2026), Avengers: Doomsday (December 18, 2026), and Avengers: Secret Wars closing it out on December 17, 2027. After that? A brand-new MCU, built on two decades of storytelling, ready for its next chapter. Via: CB

Iron Man and Captain America among characters Marvel will recast

Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige has confirmed plans to recast major characters, including the X-Men, Iron Man, and Captain America. This recasting will occur after the release of the 2027 film Avengers: Secret Wars, which Feige stated is about "beginnings" and will set up the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The concept of Secret Wars, involving multiple timelines collapsing, will facilitate this "reset" or "singular timeline," with the forthcoming X-Men solo movie being the first place this will happen. While current X-Men actors will appear in 2026's Avengers: Doomsday, iconic characters like Tony Stark and Steve Rogers are also slated for recasting, similar to how James Bond or Superman roles are re-cast. Separately, Robert Downey Jr is confirmed to return to Marvel as the villain Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday, set for release in December 2026.

Marvel Plans to Recast the X-Men and (Eventually) Tony Stark After ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,' But ‘Reboot Is a Scary Word,' Says Kevin Feige

The all-new X-Men are coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe — and an all-new Tony Stark will (eventually) join them. In a wide-ranging conversation with press on Friday, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige confirmed that, following the events of 2027's 'Avengers: Secret Wars,' the company will recast the super-powered mutants for its upcoming 'X-Men' movie directed by Jake Schreier ('Thunderbolts*'). Stewart also played Charles Xavier in 2022's 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,' and Grammer appeared as Hank McCoy in a post-credits scene in 2023's 'The Marvels.' In future films, however, X-Men characters who appeared in previous movies will be played by new actors, along with mutants making their big screen debut. The decision echoes changes in the composition of the Marvel comics following the 2015 'Secret Wars' storyline, which involved multiple timelines collapsing and re-converging, mixing up the characters of the main Marvel timeline in the process. 'We're utilizing that [story] not just to round out the stories we've been telling post-'Endgame,' just as importantly — and you can look at the at the 'Secret Wars' comics for where that takes you — it very, very much sets us up for the future,' Feige said. ''Endgame,' literally, was about endings. 'Secret Wars' is about is about beginnings.' But Feige was also careful not to characterize the changes as a 'reboot'; instead, the executive said 'Secret Wars' will serve as a 'reset' for the MCU. 'Reboot is a scary word,' he said. 'Reboot can mean a lot of things to a lot of people. Reset, singular timeline — we're thinking along those lines.' Later, he added, ''X-Men' is where that will happen next.' Feige noted that the X-Men comics, with their focus on Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, naturally centered on stories about adolescent characters. 'They have been a place to tell stories about young people who feel different and who feel Other and who feel like they don't belong,' he said. 'That's the universal story of mutants, and that is where we're going.' Even more intriguingly, Feige also indicated that other Marvel characters will eventually be recast, including its most iconic roles, like Tony Stark and Steve Rogers. He pointed to many other major film franchises that have done the same thing, multiple times over. 'Amy Pascal and David Heyman are now searching for a new James Bond,' Feige said, referring to the producers of Amazon MGM's upcoming Bond film. 'David [Corenswet], the new Superman — he was awesome. That will always be the case.' Feige acknowledged that stars who've retired their original MCU roles like Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans have made it difficult to imagine anyone else in their characters' shoes. But it isn't an impossible task. 'I think it's hard for anybody to do that when an actor has done such a great role,' he said. 'How are they going to ever replace Sean Connery [as James Bond], right?' At least two legacy actors may still yet appear in the MCU, as well. Asked about his plans for a follow-up to Marvel's 2024 blockbuster 'Deadpool & Wolverine' with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, Feige, in typical fashion, made no definitive statements, but also did not close off any possibilities. 'I think there is more fun to be had with both of those characters,' he said. 'But we'll see where.'
