Chouhan announces 3.76L addl houses under PMAY-G
Guwahati: Union minister for rural development
on Saturday announced the approval of 3.76 lakh additional houses for Assam under the

). During the virtual Grihapravesh ceremony of 55,000 houses under PMAY-G, he reinforced the Centre's dedication to establishing poverty-free villages.

In Guwahati on Saturday, Chouhan introduced the 'Lakhimi Mistri' programme, an initiative to provide masonry training to women under PMAY-G. He commended Assam's accomplishment of completing 20 lakh houses under the scheme.
Chouhan highlighted the central govt's commitment to enhancing
and improving living conditions for disadvantaged communities nationwide. The event recognised several PMAY-G beneficiaries who had moved into their newly built homes.
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed gratitude to Chouhan for sanctioning 3,76,075 houses for Assam for the financial year 2025-26 under PMAY-G from the final Awaas Plus 2018 survey list. He noted that this approval would fulfil the state's waiting list and support Prime Minister Modi's vision of '
' in rural areas, ensuring dignified living conditions for economically disadvantaged people.
Sarma reaffirmed the govt's dedication to advancing a self-reliant and prosperous Assam. He attributed the visible improvements in rural transformation and farmer welfare to the government's targeted rural development initiatives.
