In a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), the Ministry of Islamic Affairs said the meeting addressed key areas of collaboration in the field of Islamic affairs and included an exchange of views on a range of issues of mutual interest. The talks also highlighted the importance of coordinating efforts in international Islamic forums and promoting the values of moderation, tolerance, and mutual understanding among nations. In his remarks at the opening ceremony, Khalayleh reiterated Jordan's longstanding dedication to promoting Quranic education and memorisation. He highlighted the Kingdom's extensive network of Koranic centres across the country and its continued efforts in organising and participating in local and international Quran competitions. Khalayleh noted that Her Majesty's sponsorship of the event reflects a deep commitment to empowering young Muslim women and strengthening their relationship with the Holy Koran, not only in terms of recitation, but as a comprehensive way of life guided by its principles. He also underscored the importance of a sound understanding of the Koran as a foundation for ethical conduct, the promotion of justice, compassion, and tolerance, as well as the preservation of social harmony and national security. Director of Women's Affairs at the Ministry Lamis Hazaymeh said that this year's competition brings together 44 participants from 40 Arab and Islamic countries, in addition to Jordan. She commended the ministry's sustained efforts in organising the annual competition over the past two decades. Launched under Royal support in 1993, the competition is one of the oldest and most prestigious international Quran competitions of its kind. It includes national and international categories for both men and women, and has seen nearly 45,000 participants since its inception. Page 2

Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Mohammad Khalaileh on Sunday attends the opening of the 46th Scientific Forum on the Amman Message (Petra photo) AMMAN — Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Mohammad Khalaileh on Sunday attended the opening of the 46th Scientific Forum on the Amman Message, held by the King Abdullah II Institute for the Training and Qualification of Preachers, with the participation of scholars and intellectuals from 40 countries. Khalaileh reiterated that the Amman Message, launched by His Majesty King Abdullah in 2004, represents the core values of moderate Islam, advocating tolerance, the alleviation of hardship, and the promotion of both religious and worldly interests, describing it as a universal humanitarian and ethical charter for peaceful coexistence. Speaking on behalf of the participating countries, Dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Law at Aladdin Islamic University in Indonesia Abdul Raouf Amin commended the Amman Message as a unifying voice in a world facing ideological fragmentation and growing confusion, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra. Director of the Institute Abdul Sattar Qudah said the Amman Message was formulated to counter international efforts aimed at distorting Islamic teachings. He cautioned against the rise of extremism that misuses religious texts to justify violence, displacement, and attacks on sacred sites. In a recorded address, Director of the Jordanian Interfaith Coexistence Research Centre Father Nabil Haddad, highlighted Jordan's leading role in promoting interfaith understanding and combating hatred. He cited key initiatives such as "A Common Word", "World Interfaith Harmony Week", and the "Amman Message" as critical tools in the global fight against extremism and terrorism. Page 2

AMMAN — Deputising for His Majesty King Abdullah, HRH Prince Feisal presided over the 117th Hashemite Scientific Council on Friday at the Islamic Cultural Centre, affiliated with the mosque of the late King Abdullah I. The Hashemite Scientific Councils, held annually during the holy month of Ramadan by the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, address topics of significance to the Islamic world, promoting moderation and balance. This year's second session featured Grand Mufti Ahmad Hasanat and Abdel Latif Maimouni, head of the Scientific Council in Morocco. They discussed the well-known Hadith: "The Halal is clear, and the Haram is clear."
