Brunei Sultan and consort to attend NDP 2025 in Singapore

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - Brunei's Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and his consort , Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha, are to attend the 60th National Day Parade of Singapore on Aug 9, at the invitation of Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. Their visit to attend the National Day Parade of Singapore reflects the close, warm, and long-standing friendship between the Sultanate and Singapore. Both countries enjoy excellent bilateral cooperation, especially in the areas of trade and investment, currency interchangeability, defence, as well as people-to-people relations, and also work closely together at the regional and international level, including in Asean, the United Nations, and the Commonwealth. Brunei represented at Asean Ride 2025 in Indonesia
Abu Bakar Md Arshad. - CONTRIBUTOR BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Honorary member and former president of the Persatuan Motosikal Darussalam (Pemoda) Abu Bakar Md Arshad is representing Brunei Darussalam in the Asean Ride 2025 being held in Padang, Sumatra, Indonesia from Aug 4 until Aug 9. An avid participant in international motorcycling programmes, Abu Bakar departed Brunei International Airport on Aug 3 to Jakarta where he joined participants from across Asean nations. From Jakarta, the participants will travel to Lampung, where the official motorcycle tour will begin covering more than five provinces in Indonesia – Lampung, Krui, Bengkulu, Sungai Penuh and will conclude in Padang. The participants will have the opportunity to explore the uniqueness of Padang City, including witnessing the live celebration of Padang City's anniversary. Pemoda affirmed its continued commitment to promoting interest in motorcycling, especially involving high-powered motorcycles through various programmes and participation in both local and international activities. – Borneo Bulletin/ANN

Photo: supplied BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: A group of nine determined Bruneians from diverse backgrounds embarked on an extraordinary adventure to conquer seven of Central Java's most prominent mountains within a span of just seven days. The ambitious expedition began on May 24 and concluded successfully on May 30, showcasing both the physical endurance and mental resilience of the team. Over the course of the week, the group scaled Gunung Lawu, Gunung Merbabu, Gunung Sumbing, Gunung Prau, Gunung Bismo, Gunung Sindoro, and the imposing Gunung Slamet. These peaks are among the most challenging and scenic in Central Java, each offering unique landscapes, varying terrain, and unpredictable weather conditions. The goal of the expedition was to reach the summit of all seven mountains in just seven days, a feat that required careful planning, teamwork, and determination. The climbers faced steep ascents, rugged trails, and the physical strain of consecutive climbs, yet their shared passion for mountaineering and adventure kept them motivated throughout the journey. This expedition not only tested their physical limits but also fostered camaraderie and a deep appreciation for nature's grandeur.
