The Traitors trailer: Karan Johar turned host for an upcoming 'ruthless' reality show, titled The Traitors. On Friday, the makers dropped the trailer of the show, unveiling 20 participants who will be fighting for survival in a fancy castle. It stars Purav Jha, Karan Kundrra, Harsh Gujral, Karan Johar, Ashish G Vidyarthi, Apoorva aka Rebel Kid, Uorfi Javed, Jasmine Bhasin, Lakshmi Manchu, Raftaar, Elnaaz Norouzi, Nikita Luther, Anshula Kapoor, Raj Kundra, Janvi Gaur, Maheep Kapoor, Jannat Zubair, Mukesh Chhabra, Sudhanshu Pandey, Sahil Salathia and Sufi Motiwala. In the trailer, Karan called the participants 'shatir (clever)' who will be staying in a fancy, mysterious castle. He explains that game in which three "traitors" will be chosen at the beginning of the game. These traitors will 'murder' the innocent players each day, said the host. Raftaar says, 'If I am the traitor, I'll leave rapping.' Uorfi swears that she will shave off her head if she turns out to be a traitor. However, the contestants will find a way to save themselves by finding out the traitors among them. In a scene, Jasmin, Apoorva and Jannat are seen in tears as they admit, "This game is too hard." Anshula reacts to Maheep's words and says, 'Aapka koi saga nahi hai. Sab aapko thugne aye hai (No one is truly yours. Everyone has come to deceive you).' Reacting to the trailer, a user took to the comment section of YouTube and called the show a, 'Mix of Roadies, Bigg Boss and Splitsvilla.' 'Sophisticated Biggboss,' added another. Someone also commented, 'The show we never needed nor wanted still we got...' The synopsis of the reality show mentions, 'Welcome to The Traitors — a ruthless reality show hosted by the enigmatic Karan Johar. Here 20 players will openly betray each other for daily eliminations to compete for a grand prize. Hidden amongst the innocent players are the traitors who are out to murder each night. In this ruthless game, trust is rare and betrayal everywhere.' The Traitors will be streaming online on Amazon Prime Video, starting 12 June. New episodes will be out every Thursday at 8 pm. The show is produced by BBC Studios India.

Surveen Chawla says actors need to gain weight for South cinema: 'I was told you are too thin, nothing would bounce'

Actor Surveen Chawla started her acting journey with television shows like Kahin To Hoga and Kaajjal, and later earned recognition for her performances in Punjabi and Hindi cinema. In a recent interview with Hauterrfly, Surveen spoke about losing roles due to the 'TV actor' tag and recalled being asked to gain weight to work in South cinema. She remembered people telling her 'you are exposed' and said, 'I was told, don't do this for some time. You should not be seen. You go down South, you need to put on weight; you come back here (to Hindi cinema), you need to lose weight.' When asked if actors really need to put on weight to work in South cinema, Surveen said, 'Yes, I was told you are too thin, slim because you won't have bosoms. Kuch hilega nahi (Nothing will jiggle), nothing will bounce. Now it's done a little more sophisticatedly. In my time, they were not so sophisticated. They told me to my face, so I gave it back to their face.' Surveen featured in popular television shows like Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Kahin To Hoga, and Kaajjal before making her Bollywood debut with the film Hum Tum Shabana in 2011. Over the years, she made her mark in Punjabi and Hindi cinema with films like Taur Mittran Di, Saadi Love Story, Singh vs Kaur, Hate Story 2, Parched, and more. Apart from this, she has also been part of several popular web series such as Sacred Games, Decoupled, and Rana Naidu. She was most recently seen in the series Criminal Justice 4. The show also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Asha Negi, Shweta Basu Prasad, Mita Vashisht, and Zeeshan Ayyub, among others, in key roles. Karan Johar is bringing the international reality hit The Traitors to Indian screens, and it's all set to stream on Amazon Prime Video starting June 12, 2025. Shot in the stunning Suryagarh Palace of Jaisalmer, new episodes of the show will drop every Thursday on your small screens. So, what's 'The Traitors' about? If you've seen Bigg Boss, forget that. The Traitors is not about shouting or tasks, it's a psychological thriller in reality show format.
