#SHOWBIZ: Passion drives Siti Hariesa

ACTRESS Siti Hariesa, who gained recognition through the 2019 drama 'Utusan Cinta Buat Adam', admits to having gone through a period of intense mental struggle due to the exhaustive demands of her artistic commitments. "Acting is a struggle; I've certainly experienced all of it. However, no matter what field you work in, there are always challenges to overcome," said the 27-year-old artiste. "For me, the challenge throughout my acting career is related to mental and physical health. There are times when I feel utterly drained from lack of sleep and spending too much time on set." Despite this, the Segamat-born actress is grateful for the consistent flow of job offers throughout her career. A deep-seated passion for what she does also helps to make her carry on despite the mental struggles. "Thankfully, so far, I've never faced the problem of not having a job offer; everything has been made easy. There may be times when I feel physically overwhelmed, but I am determined to keep moving forward." The actress, whose full name is Siti Hariesa Muhammad Hanafi, makes a point of finding opportunities to reward herself, allowing her to recharge and return with renewed enthusiasm. "There's definitely time for myself. If it's a day off, I'll spend it on myself. But I don't really do anything elaborate; I just spend a lot of time relaxing at home. "Of course, I work hard to earn money and accumulate assets. Now, I can support myself, and I also think about rewarding myself, including helping my family." Regarding her acting career, Siti Hariesa is open to working with any male actor and doesn't pick and choose her co-stars. "I don't choose who I'll be paired with because I don't know how compatibility can be fostered if I don't try. "I was surprised to be given the opportunity to work with Shukri Yahaya and Amerul Affendi in the 'Bru' Tonton series. "There were times when I wondered if I could build good chemistry with my co-stars, but in the end, it went smoothly. So, I can't decide who I want to work with." Siti Hariesa also eagerly anticipates opportunities to work with senior actors and is ready to give her best. "I enjoy working with 'senior' actors; in fact, I always hope to work with them," she told BH Online. "But I don't feel small or dwarfed when I'm with them. I'm still new, but I know I can do it. That's the most important thing. "I want to give my best, whether in front of the 'seniors' or the audience." Siti Hariesa can now be seen in action in Nik Amir Mustapha's drama series, 'Bru', which began streaming on Tonton in early May.

#SHOWBIZ: Amar, Qobin returning to Malaysia this Friday

KUALA LUMPUR: Actor Amar Bahrin made the most of his time in Medina to worship before heading home this Friday. Amar, who arrived in Medina last Thursday after successfully completing the #JourneyToTanahHaram cycling mission with national explorer Datuk Muhamad Muqharabbin Mokhtarrudin, better known as Qobin, was keen to maximise the spiritual rewards during the month of Zulhijah. "So far, I only have an appointment to meet Allah, because the first 10 days of Zulhijah are extraordinary," he told BH Online. "I happen to be in the Holy Land and the rewards are multiplied, so I want to use this opportunity to worship as much as I can." When asked if he would return to filming immediately upon his return, Amar said he would be taking a break first. "I want to rest first; as of now, there are no plans to return to work in the near future. "After all, it's been over a month since I left my wife and children, so I want to spend time with them," he said. The cycling mission with Qobin began on April 27 and was originally scheduled to conclude in July. However, due to border closures in several countries, including India and Pakistan, because of ongoing conflicts, the cycling portion of the journey ended a month earlier than planned. Amar and Qobin were flagged off by the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, from Padang Besar, Perlis, on April 27. Their 8,000km journey took them through Thailand, Iran, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia, utilising a combination of cycling, land, and air transport.

#SHOWBIZ: Malaysia, Indonesia partner to boost film industries globally

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia and Indonesia are set to form a strategic partnership aimed at elevating their local film industries to international standards, positioning them as a global focus. To achieve this, a specialised team will be established, concentrating on script development and examining the financial structures necessary for film production. The initiative follows a meeting between the National Film Development Corporation (Finas) and an Indonesian delegation, led by Deputy Culture Minister, Giring Ganesha. The discussions took place during the recent Marche du Film event in Cannes, France. Finas chief executive officer, Datuk Azmir Saifuddin Mutalib, said he had previously discussed this collaboration with Indonesian Culture Minister, Fadli Zon, at a film event in Hong Kong. "Among the things we are discussing is producing a film project together. Perhaps a story about culture, especially one that highlights Eastern values," Azmir told BH Online. He added that both nations share many cultural similarities, such as removing shoes when entering a home, eating with hands, and respecting parents, making shared storytelling a natural fit. The Indonesian delegation in Cannes included renowned actors Christine Hakim, Chelsea Islan, Iko Uwais, and Reza Rahadian. Azmir stated that the special team would comprise representatives from both countries to foster collaborative idea generation and creativity. "The current plan is to form a special team that will research and produce the script. There will be representatives from Indonesia and Malaysia." Azmir suggested exploring stories about figures or imams known across the archipelago, such as those recognised in both Malaysia and Indonesia. This bilateral cooperation will also encourage private agencies to provide mutual assistance. "This initiative is not 100 per cent funded by the Malaysian and Indonesian governments. This planning also involves private agencies," Azmir clarified. The partnership aims to produce films not only for the Malaysian and Indonesian markets but also for export to various other countries. "During the discussion, we thought it was time to produce a film for international viewing that tells about our culture and language," he added. Indonesian filmmakers have also expressed interest in Malaysia's success in animated films. Azmir noted: "Our animated films like 'Boboiboy' can be said to be strong, that's why they are interested in doing this two-way collaboration." Conversely, Malaysia acknowledges Indonesia's strong storytelling capabilities and cultural portrayals in films. Azmir believes that combining Malaysia's technical and animation expertise with Indonesia's narrative strengths will lead to a more robust outcome. The discussions have been communicated to Finas chairman, Datuk Hans Isaac, and Communications Minister, Datuk Fahmi Fadzil. Azmir anticipates further engagement with the Indonesian side at both the CEO and ministerial levels.

#SHOWBIZ: Fattah Amin sympathises with ex-wife Fazura over debt claims

KUALA LUMPUR: Actor Fattah Amin has declined to comment on allegations that his former wife, Nur Fazura's company, owes RM4.65 million to a headscarf manufacturing factory. Fattah, whose full name is Abdul Fattah Mohd Amin, instead expressed his sympathy and well wishes for Fazura. He added that he hoped things would be made easier for Nur Fatima Aisya's mother. "I wouldn't presume to comment, but having heard this news, I do feel sympathy and wish her all the best," he told BH Online. "I can't really comment much as it's a personal matter. You see, we never know when we might face our own trials. When we do, we wouldn't want others talking nonsense without knowing the full story. "As outsiders, the best we can do is offer our prayers and hope things are resolved smoothly. It's not just anyone; she is the mother of my child, so I naturally pray for the best," he said. Fattah mentioned that he was unaware of the news before it was reported in the local media. "I only found out when the news broke; I genuinely had no prior knowledge of this," he said. Previously, news outlets reported that the popular actress and businesswoman's company was allegedly in debt to the tune of RM4.65 million to the headscarf manufacturer, Obor Holding Sdn Bhd. It's understood that the manufacturing firm has initiated legal action following Pink Fate Sdn Bhd's alleged lack of cooperation. Fazura is widely known as a co-founder of Pink Fate Sdn Bhd. Obor Holding Sdn Bhd, which owns the Feline Malaysia factory, claims to have supplied Pink Fate Sdn Bhd with headscarves valued at RM7.3 million since June 2022. However, they allege that Pink Fate has only paid RM2,680,167.90, leaving a balance of RM4.65 million outstanding to Feline. Obor Holding also stated that they began experiencing difficulties in receiving payments from December 2023. As of now, Fazura has not released any statement regarding this matter.
