#SHOWBIZ: Dharma's family can continue living in their rented house
Syafiq explained that after negotiating with their landlord, they were allowed to stay despite a slight rent increase.
"We recently contacted the landlord about the rent payment because so many people had donated to help us pay it off.
"With that money, we were able to clear several months of arrears and even pay a few months in advance. "The landlord raised the rent a little, but we understood why. He also understood our story after it went viral, and he was kind enough to allow us to stay here," Syafiq told BH Online.
Previously, Syafiq had posted on Instagram, asking the landlord for understanding while they tried to settle the payments.
Last June, Dharma's family's struggle to pay their rent came to light.
The hardships faced by the actor, who starred in the 1980s film 'Adik Manja', went viral after a video showed his declining health.
It was also reported that Dharma had not been offered acting roles for three years.
Syafiq expressed gratitude that the family's struggles received so much attention, allowing them to remain in their home.
"I'm so thankful for the public's donations. Most people who came to our house donated, and it really helped us.
"Now that the arrears are settled, we'll take steps to pay next month's rent to make things easier," he said.
Syafiq is also happy that his father is starting to receive job offers.
"My father has received an acting offer from producer Datuk A Aida. I also have a few other acting jobs, so God willing, this will help our family," he said.
It was reported that Aida offered Dharma a one-year, monthly job to ease his financial burden.
However, the founder of A Aida Production said that the offer was contingent on Dharma's performance in the telefilm 'Kisah Cinta Kau & Aku', which is scheduled to begin filming on Aug 15.

#SHOWBIZ: Misha Omar scores a first with 'Break'
MISHA Omar at 43 proves she's still at the top of her game with her new single 'Break'. Recently released under Sony Music Entertainment, the song marks Misha's first-ever cross-border collaboration with Indonesian music legend Melly Goeslaw. Written entirely by Melly and produced by Tohpati, 'Break' is a soul-stirring anthem wrapped in raw emotions. It also serves as the official soundtrack for the drama series 'Mandul Bukan Pilihan'. A MESSAGE, A MILESTONE The song began with a message, literally. Misha sent Melly a DM on Instagram. "I gathered my courage and messaged her," says Misha. "I told her I wanted a song written by her. To my surprise and joy, she agreed and composed 'Break' just for me." For Melly, the feeling was mutual. "I've been a fan for such a long time. She simply has an amazing voice. I've always been in awe of Misha." Though the song was recorded in Jakarta, the two had never actually met prior to the private media listening party hosted by Misha recently at Courtyard by Marriott KL South. BACK TO SCHOOL (SORT OF) The intimate event felt more like a reunion with old friends than a press launch. Misha, elegant yet irreverently witty, cracked jokes and charmed the room like she was hosting a long-overdue catch-up. "I've been doing this for two decades," she said with a grin. "I wouldn't have made it this far without media friends. Thank you for still writing about me, still listening." Then came the surprise: Melly appeared. The crowd erupted as the two divas embraced for the first time in person. They later took the stage together, with Misha performing 'Break' live. "When I was writing this song, it sounded ordinary," Melly said. "But when I heard Misha's vocals, it became extraordinary. She gave it soul." PREPARATION WITH PURPOSE Despite her decades of experience and three 'Anugerah Juara Lagu' Best Vocal wins, Misha still treats every project like the first. Before recording 'Break', she returned to vocal classes with her long-time coach, Datuk Syafinaz Selamat, who was at the event as well. "Every time I start something new, I go back to class," she says. "We dissect the lyrics, line by line, to really feel the emotions behind the words." While the title may hint at pause or heartbreak, for Misha, 'Break' means reclaiming space. "It's not about stopping," she says. "It's about giving myself permission to create something meaningful again." And 'Break' delivers just that: an elegant heartbreak ballad that feels timeless, universal and entirely her own. It's also a celebration of regional creativity, bridging the musical worlds of Malaysia and Indonesia. "This isn't about replacing local composers," she clarifies. "It's about exploring, pushing boundaries and celebrating the richness of Nusantara music." WHAT'S NEXT? With 'Break' already streaming on all major platforms, Misha is warming up for her next big move. Her solo concert, 'DiA MISHA OMAR' on Nov 29 at Mega Star Arena, promises to be another milestone in her illustrious career. Tickets, priced from RM288 to RM1,200, have been on sale since July 25. Between now and then? Maybe another collaboration. Maybe more ballads. But one thing's for sure, Misha's not slowing down. "As long as I have something honest to say, I'll keep singing," she says. "Each new song should feel like the start of something." So, if 'Break' feels like a beginning, it's because it is. Misha hopes this collaboration builds bridges through melody and acknowledging the interconnected nature of Southeast Asian creativity. 'Break' is available across all major streaming platforms, Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music.

#SHOWBIZ: Singer Maher Zain returns to serenade Malaysia
AFTER a six-year break from Malaysian stages, Swedish-Lebanese singer Maher Zain is set to make a highly anticipated return to Southeast Asia with a new concert tour in 2025. Beloved worldwide for his soulful melodies and uplifting messages of hope, unity, and faith, Maher's tour has generated significant excitement across the region. The announcement was first made on the singer's official social media accounts and later confirmed during a recent video conference in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, where Maher spoke from his current base in Turkiye. The award-winning, multi-platinum artiste and well-known humanitarian is scheduled to perform in three major cities: Kuala Lumpur on Aug 16, Singapore on Aug 21, and Kota Kinabalu on Aug 23. Organised by Yayasan Tengku Abdullah, the tour is a collaboration with prominent Malaysian event companies Hitman Solutions and Happymoon, along with his international label, Awakening Music. Prompted by overwhelming demand from fans, this will be Maher's first performance in Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu since the Covid-19 pandemic. This milestone reaffirms his enduring connection with audiences in the region, particularly after his 2019 Malaysian tour sold out rapidly across four cities. A special connection "Malaysia holds an incredibly special place in my journey — I'd even say it's more meaningful than any other country for me," Maher said during the press conference. "Performing here has always been something I treasure. The fans are amazing, and they've played such a vital role in shaping my music career. "To everyone who's waited patiently for six years, my team and I are on our way back. Let's create unforgettable memories together. I hope to see concert halls filled with families, young people, and loyal supporters." With over eight million followers on Instagram and 6.2 million monthly listeners on Spotify, Maher continues to captivate a global audience with his signature blend of spiritual inspiration and modern musical sensibility. Fans attending the shows can look forward to hearing beloved classics such as 'Insha Allah', 'Baraka Allahu Lakuma', and 'Thank You Allah', as well as newer fan favourites like 'Qalbi Fil Madinah' and 'Rahmatun Lil'Alameen'. Dr Mohd Afiq Farhan Md Hanif, a senior representative from the foundation, explained that the tour is intended to be more than just entertainment. It's a "heartfelt celebration of togetherness and the universal language of music." "This concert isn't merely a music event. "It's about creating lasting emotional moments, a space where messages of compassion, resilience, and hope can truly resonate. "We believe experiences like these leave a profound impact, reminding us of how music can heal, unify, and bridge our communities. For many in Malaysia, Maher's songs have become the soundtrack to important life moments — weddings, Hari Raya, and quiet moments of reflection — and now we'll get to relive them live on stage." The selected tour locations — KL, Singapore, and Kota Kinabalu — were chosen to ensure accessibility for fans in Malaysia, with Singapore included due to massive support shown during Maher's previous appearance there last year.
