Transport employees union to go on hunger strike
Hubballi: The KSRTC and BMTC United Employees Union will organise a hunger strike to demand the fulfilment of various demands of transport employees, including KSRTC and BMTC, and the implementation of govt directives, on June 10 at NWKRTC central office, Hubballi.
Speaking to the reporters here on Saturday, union president KR Vijay Kumar said that the state govt has not implemented the wage revision agreement. Despite several requests in this regard, no decision was taken so far. If the govt does not come to a decision on this by May 31, a struggle will be launched to distribute free tickets to male passengers across the state under the Shakti Yojana, he said.
"Currently, fines are being imposed from the initial stage to the final stage only in NWKRTC, for ticketless travel. This is being imposed only from the initial stage to the inspection stage in other corporations. Many conductors lost their jobs and are on the streets due to the unscientific penalty method. They appealed to the head of the corporation several times, but did not receive a response. Therefore, we demand that the govt's directives be followed," he demanded.
