BOYA BOYAMIC 2 Wireless Microphone Review
The BOYAMIC 2 isn't playing around with its touted set of features. Standouts include the 'AI-powered noise cancellation,' generous multi-device pairing, and 32-bit float capture. This is clearly a product targeting the big players in the space, with BOYA pulling no punches on the spec sheet. How does it perform during real-world testing? This is my review. First, let's talk about the 'AI' noise cancellation. I'm always skeptical of companies throwing 'AI' into their spec sheet, when there isn't actually any AI involved. With the BOYAMIC 2, BOYA says that its noise cancellation is trained on a vast number of samples, learning to remove unwanted audio. It sounds too good to be true, but it works impressively well. For those looking to record in noisy or unpredictable environments, BOYAMIC 2 delivers where others fall short. The BOYAMIC 2 also has 32-bit float audio in its arsenal. I love to see this on the spec sheet, as this range is perfect for recording anyone and anything, no matter how loud they whisper, speak, or shout. For interview situations, especially in untreated or chaotic environments, 32-bit can legitimately save the day. Also there to help save the day is the automatic gain control, limiter, and safety track, all of which combine to offer a level of insurance. You hope that you won't have to use them, but in a pinch, they can ensure critical recordings remain usable. Also worthy of a shout-out are the displays. The receiver's AMOLED touchscreen stands out with its clarity and responsiveness. This makes it easy to monitor and adjust settings. For big projects, the multi-device support for two transmitters and four receivers also stands out. The receiver has 8 GB of onboard storage and battery life of 24 hours — when paired with the case — helps avoid a lot of potential headaches. The main highlight of the BOYAMIC 2 is sound quality. As a microphone, that's a pretty enormous win. Combine the rich vocal capture with the excellent noise cancellation, and you've got a superb solution in even challenging scenarios. While there are many big victories for the BOYAMIC 2, I do have two very minor nitpicks. First is the build quality. While I feel that it has improved over the first version, it still lags behind competitors. With that said, for the price, BOYA has done well. My other gripe is the included instructions. These could use some polish to match the quality of competitors. It's a small thing, but for BOYA to be compared to the bigger brands, it's an area that deserves focus. Disclosure: Review sample provided by BOYA. At $200, the BOYAMIC 2 offers a compelling mix of features and performance. It delivers strong sound quality, effective noise cancellation, and useful tools for recording in unpredictable environments. While there are a couple of small areas for improvement, the overall experience is impressive for the price. BOYA has clearly aimed high with this release. For creators on a budget, it's a very solid option worth considering. Excellent noise cancellation performance 32-bit float audio Multi-device support AMOLED touchscreen Strong overall sound quality Build quality still lacking Poorly written user instructions 9 The post BOYA BOYAMIC 2 Wireless Microphone Review appeared first on GameRevolution.
