DMW Honors Filipino Volunteers for Selfless Service in Jeddah OFW Caravan

The Bagong Bayani ng Mundo: OFW Serbisyo Caravan held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on August 8 and 9 was a great success, thanks not only to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and partner agencies but also to the dedicated Filipino volunteers behind the scenes. The DMW recognized the invaluable contributions of Filipino community groups including the OFW Council of Leaders, Guardians International, The Fraternal Order of Eagles – Philippine Eagles Inc. Middle East Region – KSA, the Philippine Nurses Association, and others based in Jeddah. Together, these organizations mobilized over 100 volunteers who helped manage crowds, assisted with registration, and guided fellow OFWs throughout the two-day caravan. DMW Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac, along with Undersecretary Dominique Rubia-Tutay, Assistant Secretary Francis Ron C. De Guzman, OWWA Deputy Administrator Ryan Uy, and Philippine Consul General Rommel Romato, honored the volunteers in a simple ceremony, awarding Certificates of Appreciation for their selfless service. 'Thank you for showing love to our kababayans. This also reflects the leadership of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.,' Secretary Cacdac said, expressing deep gratitude for their efforts. Assistant Secretary De Guzman added, 'Events like this succeed not just because of official manpower, but because of the big hearts and willing hands of our fellow Filipinos.' For Eagles Governor Faisal Latif, a Toyota manager in Jeddah, volunteering alongside the Philippine Consulate General represents their organization's motto: 'Service through strong brotherhood.' OCL – Jeddah Director General Mojiedah Dakmash shared that volunteering at the Serbisyo Caravan is part of their 10th anniversary celebrations this August 29, and assured that their group will continue to respond whenever called upon. The Philippine Nurses Association Western Regional President Veronica Filipinas Saha ensured that all caravan participants were healthy and fit to serve, while Guardians Middle East Chairman Romeo Climaco Jr. coordinated their members to assist OFWs and maintain safety throughout the event. The DMW continues to commend the spirit of volunteerism exhibited by Filipinos abroad, embodying true Bayanihan spirit in serving their fellow migrant workers.

OFW Serbisyo Caravan Brings Government Help to Jeddah

The Bagong Pilipinas whole-of-government team successfully delivered essential and timely services to over 500 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in the Middle East during the first day of the 'Bagong Bayani ng Mundo: OFW Serbisyo Caravan' held at Ladunna Hall in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on August 8, 2025. Led by Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Assistant Secretary for Reintegration Atty. Francis Ron C. De Guzman, the event gathered multiple government agencies—including OWWA, PAO, DSWD, SSS, PSA, LandBank, PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG Fund—to provide a one-stop shop of assistance. To ensure smooth operations, the DMW-Migrant Workers Office in Jeddah used QR code pre-registration, distributed participant checklists, organized event space by sections, and enlisted OFW volunteers as guides. A total of 525 OFWs availed services on the first day, with more expected on the second day. De Guzman emphasized that the caravan is part of the DMW's commitment to consistently serve OFWs, saying, 'Kami po ay palagiang babalik… laging nakabukas ang mga opisina para patuloy na makapagserbisyo.' The OFW Serbisyo Caravan, a flagship DMW program, offers services such as membership registration, renewal of documents, legal aid, financial and psychosocial support, and reintegration assistance.

Thousands of OFWs Join Gov't Caravan in Dubai for Direct Access to Services

Thousands of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from various parts of the United Arab Emirates flocked to the Dubai World Trade Centre for the Bagong Bayani ng Mundo: OFW Serbisyo Caravan, a large-scale event aimed at bringing Philippine government services closer to Filipino communities abroad. Organized by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), the initiative follows the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to streamline and improve access to public services for OFWs. The event was held in collaboration with various agencies such as OWWA, PSA, Pag-IBIG, SSS, DSWD, PAO, DTI-PTIC, and the Philippine Consulate in Dubai. From 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., attendees were able to avail of services including contract verification, legal assistance, housing and financial services, and welfare programs from the Migrant Workers Office (MWO). For many, the caravan served as a one-stop shop to address pressing personal and employment concerns without having to return to the Philippines. The caravan reflects the Philippine government's commitment to making public service accessible, responsive, and relevant to the needs of its modern-day heroes. Beyond paperwork and benefits, it also fostered a sense of connection and reassurance for OFWs working far from home.
