Autism Camp Builds Belonging

TDT | Manama A children's summer programme supporting those on the autism spectrum is now entering its seventh year with a powerful new theme tying care to civic identity. Titled 'Our Nation and Our King Unite Us,' the initiative was launched by His Excellency Ali Abdulhussain Al Asfoor, Northern Governor, with backing from the Ministry of Social Development and the Bahrain Autistic Society. Values in action H.E. Al Asfoor praised the collaboration's role in delivering not only developmental support but also a message of belonging for children often excluded from mainstream narratives. He extended appreciation to H.E. Osama bin Ahmed Khalaf Al Asfoor, Minister of Social Development, for providing the institutional foundation that has allowed the programme to grow. The initiative combines educational, recreational, and therapeutic modules, helping enhance adaptive behaviour, reduce repetitive actions, and strengthen communication skills. Families lead change Parents have also been central to the programme's success. Their active participation, said the Governor, multiplies the programme's effectiveness and roots it in real community engagement. This year's theme reflects a broader national approach that integrates identity and inclusion, ensuring that all children feel part of Bahrain's social fabric. The Bahrain Autistic Society continues to play a vital role in advancing this model, ensuring that inclusive development is not just promised but practised.
