Shura Chairman Honours Media Professionals on World Press Freedom Day

Manama: Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, honoured journalists and media professionals in celebration of World Press Freedom Day and Bahrain Press Day. Jamal Mohammed Fakhro, First Deputy Chairman, was present at the ceremony. According to Bahrain News Agency, the ceremony reflected the Shura Council's recognition of the media's vital role in supporting legislative work and strengthening democratic values. Al Saleh praised media professionals' contributions in covering the legislative authority's activities, highlighting Shura Council members' efforts to advance Bahrain's legislative system. He affirmed that media institutions are essential partners in promoting the achievements of the legislative branch and in representing Bahrain in regional and international parliamentary forums. He also noted the steady development of Bahrain's media and journalistic landscape, particularly in its use of digital tools and modern technology to uphold freedom of expression and democratic progress. He affirmed that these achievements continue under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with the ongoing support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Al Saleh expressed pride in the message delivered by His Majesty on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, describing it as a reaffirmation of the central role that free and responsible media play in national development. He concluded by commending the dedication of journalists to professional ethics and national responsibility, and their ability to balance the adoption of digital innovation with the core values of integrity, objectivity, and credibility.
