Film producer Balaga Prakash alleges harassment by revenue officials over land deal

Vennela Creations film producer and Balaga Infra Projects Managing Director Balaga Prakash has sought the intervention of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes, alleging harassment by Tekkali Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) M. Krishna Murthy and others in connection with a land deal at Raghunathapuram village, Tekkali mandal. Speaking at a press conference, Mr. Prakash said that he legally purchased two acres in Survey Nos. 520/1 and 520/3 from members and legal heirs of the Jagadhatri Displaced Goldsmiths RCC Spun Pipes Cooperative Society two years ago. He presented land documents including the sale deed, adangal, conversion approvals, and orders issued by the then Tekkali Sub Collector in November 2023. Mr. Prakash alleged that the RDO continued to act against him despite a directive from the Andhra Pradesh High Court not to proceed further in the matter. He claimed certain vested interests were being encouraged to file false complaints, causing him undue hardship. 'While the government promotes Dalit industrialists, such harassment is discouraging and unjust,' he said. Leaders of the Scheduled Castes Welfare Association's Joint Action Committee, including K. Venu and T. Srinu, backed Mr. Prakash, warning that such incidents would deter Dalit entrepreneurs from investing in backward regions. They said a delegation would meet with the National Commissions for SCs and STs to seek support. When contacted, Mr. Krishna Murthy maintained that he was acting within legal parameters. He said some legal heirs of the cooperative society had approached him, alleging non-receipt of payment for the land sale. 'My efforts are to resolve the issue in accordance with court and government directions,' he clarified.
