Man, wife arrested for hacking father to death with axe
Ludhiana: A man and his wife allegedly hacked his father to death with an axe because he did not transfer ownership of his house to her. A case has been filed against the accused, Jugraj Singh of Jatana village and his wife, Renu Rani.
Relatives of the accused handed them over to the police.
The complainant, Bhinder Singh of Jatana village, said that his brother Balvir Singh lived with his wife Manjit Kaur, his son Jugraj Singh Raju, and daughter-in-law Renu Rani in the village. He added that in 2023, Renu Rani went to her parents' place in Majri village in a huff and demanded that her father-in-law, Balvir Singh, transfer ownership of the house to her.
According to him, Jugraj Singh was an unemployed alcoholic while his brother worked as a shuttering contractor.
He alleged that Jugraj sold Balvir's Tata 407 vehicle without informing him. He also allegedly sold shuttering equipment in his absence. Balvir Singh was afraid that his son and daughter-in-law would sell the house, the complainant said, adding that Jugraj and his wife would fight with Balvir and harass him.

On June 25, the complainant met Balvir, who told him that the accused were harassing him and would kill him for the property. On the intervening night of June 25 and 26, the accused allegedly attacked Balvir with an axe while he was sleeping and left him seriously injured.
Thereafter, they allegedly claimed that Balvir had been attacked by some unknown person and admitted him in a hospital near Sherpur Chowk. The complainant said that they deliberately brought his brother home without getting him treated, and he died.
Sadar Khanna police filed a case against the accused under sections 103 (Murder) and 35 (common intention related) of BNS. SHO, Sadar Khanna police station, sub-inspector Sukhwinderpal Singh said that the accused were arrested on Friday after relatives handed them over to them.
