BRS neglected irrigation sector during their 10-year regime: Bhatti
Hyderabad: Deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Sunday said that Telangana's irrigation water needs are still being met by projects built by previous Congress govts on the Krishna and Godavari rivers. He added that the BRS did nothing for the development of the irrigation sector during their 10-year regime. "Not a single drop of irrigation water that rightfully belongs to Telangana will be given up. The state's interests are more important than politics. The previous BRS govt was responsible for allowing the Andhra Pradesh to take the Banakacherla project," he said after laying the foundation stone for the construction of 10,000-metric-tonne-capacity warehouses at Kamalapuram village in the Mudigonda mandal of the Khammam district. The warehouses are being built by the Telangana State Warehousing Corporation at a cost of ₹10 crore. He added: "It is because of chief minister A Revanth Reddy and irrigation minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy's effective presentation of arguments to the Union Jal Shakti Ministry in New Delhi that the Banakacherla project was halted." When Polavaram was being constructed, they just watched. When construction of the Banakacharla project began, they showed no concern. In fact, they rolled out the red carpet for AP leaders and mortgaged the interests of our state. Even when seven mandals of the Khammam district were merged into AP through an ordinance that was not included in the Reorganisation Act, they failed to stop it." Bhatti said, "We are correcting all the mistakes committed by the previous BRS govt. We are moving forward with a concrete action plan to make full use of the waters of the Krishna and Godavari rivers and ensure that Telangana's rightful share will not be taken by AP." Grassroot workers will get priority in local body polls: TPCC chief
1 2 Hyderabad: Telangana Congress president B Mahesh Kumar Goud on Sunday said that candidates to contest the panchayat, MPTC, and ZPTC elections would be selected based on survey reports and feedback from key party leaders regarding their winning prospects. "Priority will be given to those who work hard at the grassroots level. The selection of candidates will be a mix of young and senior leaders. It is the responsibility of the senior leaders to guide the younger members. Women will get their quota of seats in the local body polls," he said at the party workers' meeting held in Nizamabad. He dismissed the opposition's allegations over AICC Telangana in charge Meenakshi Natarajan's participation in the padayatra led by him. "AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, in the presence of chief minister A Revanth Reddy, asked the TPCC leadership to undertake a padayatra to reach out to the people at the grassroots level and understand their problems. Meenakshi Natarajan is participating as the chief guest in the padayatra, as in charge of Telangana affairs," he said. KCR's corruption exposed in Kaleshwaram, says Mahesh Goud
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud said that the Judicial Commission on the irregularities in Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project pointed all fingers towards former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao in the massive irregularities in the planning and execution of the project. 'I have seen media reports on the Kaleshwaram Commission clearly holding KCR and his team responsible for the enormous violations leading to poor quality of construction,' he said arguing that the report has revealed what the Congress had been saying all along. 'Thousands of crores were wasted in the name of irrigation development, but the reality is that the Kaleshwaram project was driven by personal gain,' he said during his Janahita padayatra in Armoor on Saturday. Mr. Goud accused KCR of completely ignoring expert advice and overstepping technical guidelines. 'Engineers were silenced, and the project was built as per the whims and fancies of KCR so that they could make money. The project failure isn't just inefficiency but criminal negligence,' he said. He reiterated that the Congress government will ensure accountability and justice, holding those responsible for such scams answerable to the people of Telangana. He also blamed KCR and former minister for Irrigation Harish Rao for Andhra Pradesh pushing the controversial Banakacherla project as the BRS had made backdoor agreements with Andhra Pradesh during their tenure. Earlier in the day, AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha, and Mahesh Kumar Goud participated in Shramadanam activities with students at Jogipet Degree College. Minister D. Seethakkha, MLA Madan Mohan Rao, Advisor to Government Shabbir Ali and AICC secretary Sampath Kumar also joined the padayatra. Mr. Goud further said that the credit for the historic decision of 42% reservations to Backward Classes goes to the Congress Party, which introduced it through the Kamareddy Declaration. 'It is Rahul Gandhi's leadership that made this possible,' he declared. He wondered why BRS MLC K Kavitha was making noise when she was silent during her father's regime.

KTR-Lokesh ‘secret' meeting reflects BRS support to A.P. projects: Bhatti Vikramarka
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka claimed that the 'secret meeting' between BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao and Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh was a conspiracy of the BRS to extend full support to the Banakacherla project. Mr. Vikramarka issued a stern warning over what he called a conspiracy by BRS, BJP and TDP to compromise Telangana's interests in the name of the Banakacherla and Polavaram projects. He was speaking at a public meeting held in Kollapur constituency marking the launch of new electricity substations, the distribution of ration cards and allocation of Indiramma housing pattas. He questioned why the BRS government remained silent on Banakacherla for a decade. 'Only after Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy intervened in Delhi, was the proposal halted,' he said. Referring to A.P. IT Minister Nara Lokesh's comments that Telangana was wasting the flood water, he rebutted that flood water was available for A.P. only because Telangana's upstream projects were never completed. 'Only after securing our rightful needs will Telangana consider any discussion on Banakacherla,' he asserted. Mr. Vikramarka criticised former CM KCR for discarding the Pranahita-Chevella project and instead opting for the Kaleshwaram project. 'KCR spent ₹1.2 lakh crore on Kaleshwaram, which ultimately failed. Pranahita-Chevella could have been completed with just ₹38,000 crore,' he said, accusing BRS of redesigning projects merely to loot the treasury. Tourism and Excise Minister Jupally Krishna Rao and Nagarkurnool MP Mallu Ravi were among present.

Won't let AP take even a drop of Telangana's water share: Congress
1 2 Hyderabad: Telangana Congress president B Mahesh Kumar Goud on Friday said that the state govt will not allow the Andhra Pradesh to take even a drop of Telangana's deserving water share from the Godavari through the Banakacherla project. Addressing the media after his padayatra in the Andole assembly constituency, Mahesh Goud accused former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and former irrigation minister T Harish Rao of mortgaging the interests of Telangana to Andhra by allowing the neighbouring state to take up the Banakacherla project. "Is it not KCR and Harish whose signatures during the previous BRS govt allowed AP to take up the Banakacherla project? On the other hand, the Congress govt led by chief minister A Revanth Reddy and irrigation minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy took up the issue with the Centre, Union Jal Shakti Ministry, central water commission, and Godavari River Management Board, and successfully stopped the AP from going ahead further with works on the Banakacherla project," he said. You Can Also Check: Hyderabad AQI | Weather in Hyderabad | Bank Holidays in Hyderabad | Public Holidays in Hyderabad The TPCC president also made it clear that the padayatra was taken up by him following directions from the AICC leadership. "AICC in charge of Telangana Meenakshi Natarajan is participating in the padayatra as chief guest. The yatra will continue after our return from New Delhi to pursue with President Droupadi Murmu the BC reservation bills pending with her. CM Revanth and other ministers too will participate in the padayatra in future as chief guests," he said. During his padayatra, the TPCC chief listed all the welfare schemes being implemented by the Congress govt, including over 60,000 govt jobs given to the youth in just 18 months. "The Congress govt has stopped the supply of coarse rice through fair price shops and is giving fine rice free of cost to all the poor in the state," he said. Meenakshi takes dig at RSS AICC in-charge of Telangana Meenakshi Natarajan said that while the Congress works for the welfare of the people, RSS does it with an ulterior motive. She called upon the party cadres to work to know the problems of the people and bring them to the notice of the govt for solutions. She was speaking at a party workers' meeting in Andole during the padayatra.
