Bengaluru metro latest news: Flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, the yellow metro line will open its doors for passengers on Monday. Linking RV Road to Bommasandra across 16 stations, the metro will make commuting easy for the citizens of Bengaluru. Train Bangalore metro opening 2025 will start on Monday, August 11, at 5 am onwards. Route length and stations Flagged off on Sunday, Bengaluru Metro yellow line has a route length of more than 19 km, and links RV Road in south Bengaluru to Bommasandra in the city's industrial area, at a distance of 18.7 km. The yellow metro line has a total of 16 stations across the span with three interchange stations including at RV Road, Jayadeva and Central Silk Board. While the interchange at RV will allow commuters to get to the Green line, the interchange at Jayadeva and Central Silk Board will link the metro with Pink and Blue lines to be built in the future. On completion of this latest addition of the yellow line, Namma Metro yellow line update operational length will be 96 km+, making the Bengaluru Metro service the second largest after Delhi. PM to launch Yellow Line Metro, Vande Bharat Express today

Bengaluru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Bengaluru on Sunday to inaugurate the much-awaited Yellow Line of Bangalore Metro, and the Vande Bharat Express train between Bengaluru and Belagavi. As per the itinerary shared by the Chief Minister's Office, Modi will participate in three events during his nearly four-hour visit to the city. On landing at the HAL Airport here at 10.30 am, the Prime Minister will travel by helicopter and road to the KSR Bengaluru (city) railway station, where he will flag off Vande Bharat Express trains between KSR Bengaluru-Belagavi. He will also virtually flag off two more Vande Bharat Express trains between Amritsar-Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katri, and Ajni (Nagpur)-Pune. Modi will then travel by road to the RV Road (Ragigudda) metro station on the Yellow Line. Between 11:45 to 12:50 he will be flagging off Yellow Line (reach 5) and take a metro ride to the Electronic City station. From there Modi will travel to the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Bengaluru, where at the institute's auditorium, he will be laying the foundation stone for Bangalore metro phase-3 and officially inaugurating the yellow line from RV Road (Ragigudda) to Bommasandra station. He will then travel by helicopter to the HAL Airport and fly back to Delhi at 2.45 pm. The 19.15 km yellow line from RV Road to Bommasandra of Bangalore metro with 16 stations has been built at the cost of Rs 5,056.99 crore. According to officials, the line is expected to ease traffic congestion in several heavily congested corridors like Hosur Road, Silk Board Junction, and Electronics City Junction. The Metro Phase 3, also known as the Orange Line for which the PM will be laying the foundation, will be 44.65 km and it will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 15,611 crore.

PM Modi to flag off 3 Vande Bharat trains, inaugurate Bengaluru Metro Yellow Line today

Bengaluru, Aug 10 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today flag off three new Vande Bharat Express trains from Bengaluru's KSR Railway Station at 11:00 a.m., further accelerating the expansion of India's high-speed rail network. The highlight of the ceremony will be the Bengaluru–Belagavi Vande Bharat Express, Karnataka's 11th such service, alongside the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra–Amritsar and Ajni (Nagpur)–Pune trains, which will be inaugurated virtually. Covering the 611-km Bengaluru–Belagavi stretch in just 8.5 hours, the new service will cut travel time by about 1 hour 20 minutes on the onward journey and 1 hour 40 minutes on the return. The route links Bengaluru's technology hub with Belagavi, home to leading medical and engineering institutions, and passes through Dharwad, Hubballi, Haveri, Davangere, and Tumakuru. Officials say the train will benefit students, professionals, farmers, and traders while boosting regional economic growth. Following the launch, a special inaugural service (Train No. 06575) will depart from KSR Bengaluru at 11:15 a.m. and arrive in Belagavi at 8:00 p.m., making stops at Yesvantpur, Tumakuru, Davangere, SMM Haveri, SSS Hubballi, and Dharwad. Later, at around 1 pm, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Yellow Line of the Bangalore Metro's Phase-2 project from RV Road (Ragigudda) to Bommasandra, covering over 19 km with 16 stations at a cost of Rs 7,160 crore. With this addition, the operational metro network in Bengaluru will expand to over 96 km. He will also lay the foundation stone for the Bangalore Metro Phase-3 project, worth over Rs 15,610 crore, which will add more than 44 km of elevated tracks across 31 stations.
