The Sports Report: Dodgers are no longer in first place
From Jack Harris: The result was historic. The way it happened was all too familiar. Never before, since interleague play began in 1997, had the Dodgers been swept in a six-game season series by the Angels. Plenty of times in recent weeks, however, they've suffered the kind of fate that clinched that distinction Wednesday. Entering the eighth inning at Angel Stadium, the Dodgers were leading by only one run, having once again failed to stretch a narrow lead. And without many trustworthy options in a recently scuffling bullpen, manager Dave Roberts had few cards to play from his deck. In a 6-5 loss that was decided on Logan O'Hoppe's go-ahead two-run single, the Dodgers not only suffered a second series sweep to the Angels this year — but also, for the first time since April 27, fell out of first place in the National League West. 'It just seems like right now,' Roberts said, 'that's the way things are going.' Continue reading here Shaikin: Will Smith could win a batting title. Could the Dodgers stop him? Dodgers-Angels box score MLB scores MLB standings From Ryan Kartje: Before he arrived at USC, Micah Banuelos was already pretty accustomed to playing through pain. As a standout offensive and defensive lineman at Kennedy Catholic High in Washington, his shoulder would pop out of its socket during almost every game. So Banuelos would check out, have his shoulder popped back in and then reenter the game like nothing changed. 'Then,' his father, Roy Banuelos, says, 'he never said anything about it after.' But when that shoulder injury lingered past high school and into his freshman season, there was no ignoring it anymore. Just weeks into his first fall at USC, the staff suggested Banuelos get surgery. It would be a while before Banuelos made his way back — and even longer still before he'd be competing for a real role on USC's offensive line. The shoulder injury robbed him of the following spring, then a knee issue nixed his second season after just a few games. But at the start of his third fall at USC, Banuelos has finally entered the mix at guard, a position at which USC is perilously unproven. Continue reading here From Sam Farmer: A decade ago, the languishing St. Louis Rams were ranked dead last in the NFL with a franchise valuation of $930 million. Faced with an unappealing stadium lease and dwindling prospects in St. Louis, the Rams turned their attention westward, toward their Los Angeles roots. Quietly, they acquired two parcels of land at the former Hollywood Park racetrack in Inglewood, where they would eventually build SoFi Stadium, a state-of-the-art venue that would redefine the franchise and reshape the NFL's footprint in Los Angeles. Today, according to Sportico rankings released Wednesday, the Rams are valued at $10.43 billion, second only to the Dallas Cowboys at $12.88 billion. This valuation comes a month after CNBC ranked Stan Kroenke's portfolio of teams — the Rams, the NBA's Denver Nuggets, NHL's Colorado Avalanche and Premier League's Arsenal — the most valuable in sports at $21.2 billion. Major city loses popular Mexican restaurant but gains another
Running a restaurant isn't for the faint of heart. You can put your blood, sweat, tears, and family recipes into your business, only to find yourself struggling to make ends meet - even if every booth in the place is filled night after night. Don't miss the move: Subscribe to TheStreet's free daily newsletter Restaurants tend to operate on tight margins. And in recent years, they've been squeezed more than usual due to persistent inflation. Related: Beloved Mexican restaurant closing iconic location after 63 years The typical full-service restaurant, if it's lucky, has a 5% profit margin due to higher labor and ingredient costs. Consumers can complain about paying high prices for restaurant food and drinks. But restaurants need to charge what they do to cover the cost of staying in business. Remember, restaurants have a lot of overhead that's not just reflected in the staff members they employ and the items listed on their menus. The costs of operating a restaurant run the gamut from keeping the lights on to stocking the toilet paper and soap in the bathrooms. When those costs keep rising, something has to give. The past few years have seen their share of high-profile restaurant closures. Red Lobster abruptly closed dozens of restaurants last year in conjunction with filing for bankruptcy. Even though fans of the chain loved its menu and famous endless shrimp promotion, the company couldn't hang on. Related: Iconic restaurant closing its doors after 32 years TGI Fridays, another popular chain, filed for bankruptcy in 2024 as well. Despite fans' familiarity with the chain's classic menu, a prolonged decline in sales led to a world of financial woes. But it's not just chain restaurants that have been forced to say goodbye. In recent years, a number of popular local restaurants have closed their doors as well. One Market Restaurant, an iconic San Francisco eatery that was the recipient of many prestigious culinary awards, announced recently that it's shutting down in mid-June. And in San Antonio, Oscar's Taco House, a beloved old school-style restaurant known for its delicious Mexican fare, is closing its doors in June as well. When a local favorite restaurant shutters, one thing that can help soften the blow is the promise of a fantastic new restaurant to replace it. In Denver, El Noa Noa Mexican Restaurant recently closed its doors after a successful 45-year run. Owner Vidal Banuelos said the restaurant never managed to fully recover from the blow of the pandemic. Related: Formerly bankrupt Tex-Mex chain unveils deals diners will love Even once Denver lifted dining restrictions, El Noa Noa lost its lunchtime crowd as companies allowed employees to continue working from home on a long-term basis. "The cost of everything went extremely high and our profit margins were basically disappeared," Banuelos told the Denver Post. Ultimately, he just couldn't hang on. At the time of El Noa Noa's closing in April, Lorenzo Nuñez Jr. of El Chingon fame found himself in an interesting spot. His popular restaurant had shuttered more than a year prior, and he was hoping to reopen in a new, reimagined space. With El Noa Noa clearing out, Nuñez jumped on the opportunity to scoop up its Santa Fe Drive location. Now, fans who are bemoaning the loss of El Noa Noa will have an opportunity to enjoy delectable Mexican classics such as chile relleños, enchiladas, and carne asada at the new El Chingon. But Nuñez said he plans to introduce exciting seasonal menu items, too. The new El Chingon will also offer a menu of fun cocktails, and the iconic patio will be open during the summer months. Banuelos is excited to see a new Mexican restaurant take over the space he's leaving behind. And he hopes Nuñez's venture is a huge success. Bella Hadid just hard-launched her Texas-cowboy boyfriend Adan Banuelos in new interview: ‘I always wanted the cowboy..'
In a new Vogue interview, Bella Hadid reveals details about a relationship that's brought a bit of calm into her often chaotic life: her romance with Adan Banuelos, a Texas-born cowboy who has quickly become her 'gust of fresh air'. While the interview touches on many serious topics — her struggles with mental health, her experience living with Lyme disease, and her passion for philanthropy — one of the standout moments comes when she talks about how she met Banuelos, and the unexpected love story that followed. 'I'm with my stepdad. We move cows, we're on trail rides, and I'm starting to feel a little better, but just still dealing with my own stuff. Then, the next day, I meet my boyfriend,' she shares. The two first crossed paths at a local horse show. 'So he basically came in, walked into the exhibit hall, which is where we do all of the show stuff. I was getting a cowboy hat fitted. I just saw him and I was like that's the…' she trails off, before continuing with a laugh: 'I always wanted the cowboy. And he's pretty gorgeous, let me tell you something.' Though they didn't speak right away, the connection was instant. 'I saw him walk in and it was like a gust of fresh air,' she says. What made it even more special? Banuelos didn't recognise her. 'I never knew who you were until I saw your face for the first time,' he told her. 'For me, that was such a breath of fresh air,' Hadid says. But Banuelos is more than just a handsome stranger — he's also the youngest Mexican cowboy to ever be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Still, Hadid is most impressed by his values: 'He works for his family, he works for his customers and he works to hopefully build a home and a family one day.' The two now share more than just a relationship — they also share a mission. Together, they support and volunteer with PATH International (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship), an organisation dedicated to equine-assisted therapy. And while her personal life might be grounded in quiet moments and cowboy love, Bella Hadid's fashion moments are still something to write home about. At the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, the model was photographed in a YSL dress that pushed the limits of the festival's updated dress code with its asymmetrical cowl neckline, delicate strappy back, and a daring thigh-high slit that reached all the way to her hip. In a life often lived under a spotlight, it seems Bella has found something real, grounded, and refreshingly normal — in the form of a cowboy who walked into a horse show and changed everything.

Official final results confirm election results in 7th Ward race in Aurora
Official final voting results from the April 1 consolidated election released recently confirmed that challenger Javier Banuelos defeated incumbent Brandon Tolliver in the tight race for the Aurora City Council's 7th Ward alderman seat. On election night, unofficial results from DuPage and Kane counties initially showed Tolliver leading at 50.48% of the vote compared to Banuelos at 49.12%. But now, official results from the two counties show Banuelos has won the seat at 50.66% of the vote to Tolliver's 48.84%. 'This is a moment of pure joy and gratitude — one I will carry in my heart forever,' Banuelos said in a Facebook post last week about his win. 'Thank you, Ward 7, for your trust and support.' The final results were close — Banuelos received only 25 votes more than Tolliver. Results were also split by county, with Banuelos winning DuPage County by 92 votes but losing Kane County by 67 votes. In total, Banuelos received 696 votes to Tolliver's 671 votes, official results accessed on Tuesday show. State law requires a canvass of votes, which makes results official, be completed no later than 21 days after the election, which for the April 1 consolidated election was Tuesday. Banuelos is set to officially take office at the city's Mayoral and Aldermanic Inauguration Ceremony at 6:30 p.m. on May 13, which will be held at the Paramount Theatre in downtown Aurora. 'No matter who you voted for, please know this: I'm here to serve our entire community,' he said in the Facebook post. 'In the coming weeks, I'll be meeting with residents, local leaders, and organizations to put our shared priorities into action.' Tolliver has been Aurora's 7th Ward alderman since he was appointed to the position after former longtime alderwoman Scheketa Hart-Burns died in June 2023. Saul Fultz also campaigned for the 7th Ward alderman seat in the April 1 election, but he ran as a declared write-in and received less than 10 votes. While official election results were available from DuPage, Kane and Will counties, Kendall County election results were still being shown online as unofficial at the time of reporting on Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m., so vote totals for other Aurora city government races were still unofficial. But, the 7th Ward is fully within DuPage and Kane counties, so that race's results were official on Tuesday. rsmith@
