Indian Army Neutralised Over 600 Drones Launched By Pakistan Amid Tensions: Sources

Last Updated: According to sources, more than 1,000 gun systems and 750 short- and medium-range missile systems were activated, along the western border. Following the success of Operation Sindoor, the Indian Army swiftly neutralised over 600 drones launched by Islamabad in retaliation to New Delhi's missile attack on nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), defence sources informed. This remarkable achievement was facilitated by the rapid deployment and determined response of India's air defence systems. According to sources, more than 1,000 gun systems and 750 short- and medium-range missile systems were activated along the western border. This swift transformation elevated India's air defence network from a peacetime stance to full operational readiness almost overnight. Earlier, the government confirmed that Pakistani drones and missiles violated Indian airspace during the intervening night of May 8 and 9. In retaliation for the attack, India activated its air defence network, including S-400 Triumph systems, Barak-8 and Akash missiles, and DRDO's anti-drone technologies, to neutralise the threats. Notably, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 in the wake of the April 22 Pahalgam attack, targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Following this, Pakistan escalated tensions by firing missiles at military sites across northern and western India. However, all incoming missiles were intercepted by the Indian army.

Pakistan ‘Panics' As India Set For ₹50,000 Military Boost; 'Tonnes Of Ammo…'

India's defence budget is set to receive a significant boost following Operation Sindoor, with a proposal for an additional ₹50,000 crore likely to be approved during the Winter session of Parliament. This extra funding will focus on weapon and ammunition procurement, technology upgrades, and R&D to further strengthen India's defence capabilities. This move comes after India's successful military response, where nine terror camps inside Pakistan were destroyed without crossing the border. The operation showcased the superiority of India's indigenous air defence systems, including the Akash, Barak-8, and Russian-made S-400 platforms.#india #defencebudget #pakistan #pmmodi #shehbazsharif #operationsindoor

S-400 vs Iron Dome: How India's air defense system stacks up against Israel's famed missile shield?

Home News S-400 vs Iron Dome: How India's air defense system stacks up against Israel's famed missile shield? S-400 vs Iron Dome: How India's air defense system stacks up against Israel's famed missile shield? How does India's air defense systems, including the S-400 Triumf, stack up against Israel's famed Iron Dome missile defense shield? Let us find out. S-400 vs Iron Dome (File) India-Pakistan tensions: Amid heightened India-Pakistan tensions post Operation Sindoor, India's air defense systems, including the Russian-made S-400 Triumf and the Israeli Barak-8, have successfully thwarted missile and drone attacks by Pakistan on multiple Indian cities. But how does India's air defense systems stack up against Israel's famed Iron Dome missile defense shield? Let us find out. S-400 Triumf The S-400 'Triumf' is a vital part of India's air defence system. The surface-to-air missile system currently has three operational squadrons in India, and is capable of intercepting incoming projectiles at a range 400 kilometers and an altitude of 30 kilometers. The S-400 system is designed to intercept a wide range of aerial threats, including ballistic and cruise missiles, and is integrated with the IACCS network of the Indian Air Force (IAF). The Russian-built system is can intercept virtually an aerial attack from the enemy, including missiles, drones fighter jets and rocket attacks. The system is highly mobile and can be easily transported and deployed at any location, where it can be ready for operational use within minutes. The S-400 system is equipped with an advanced 92N6E electronically-steered phased array radar, which enables the system to detect multiple enemy targets from a distance of 600 km. The system is capable of tracking as many as 160 targets simultaneously, and can fire two intercepting missiles at each target to ensure its neutralized. India acquired the S-400 system from Russia in 2018 under a deal worth Rs 40,000 crore for five units, three of which have been delivered so far and are in operational use. Akash Missile System The indigenously-built Akash Missile System perfectly complements the S-400 air defense system. The Akash system is designed for short-range aerial defence, with a capability to take down aerial threats up to a range of 25-30 kms. The low-level interception system is a low-cost option to engage multiple short-range targets, and is equipped with anti-jamming technology, making it difficult for the enemy to disable using electronic warfare capabilities. Barak-8 missile system Jointly developed by India and Israel, the Barak-8 is a medium-range air defense system that can target fighter jets, helicopters, drones, anti-ship and cruise missiles at a distance ranging between 70-150 km. The Barak-8 missile system is equipped with ctive radar homing, advanced data link, allowing blazing fast response to threats. How Israel's Iron Dome varies from India's air defense systems Notably. India's air defense strategy markedly different from Israel. The Jewish nation's famed Iron Dome missile defense is specifically designed to intercept short-range aerial threats, especially rocket attacks by Hamas from the Gaza Strip, while India's multi-level air defense is designed to provide protection against long-range ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, stealth aircraft and hypersonic projectile. 'It is the happiest day of life… seeing my baby work so accurately and beautifully in shooting down incoming enemy aerial targets,' Dr Ramarao was quoted as saying as per a report by NDTV. 'It worked beyond expectations… engaging incoming targets effectively', he added. What is Akash Missile Defence System The Akash system is a short range, surface-to-air missile system manufactured by Bharat Dynamics Limited in Hyderabad. With its built-in electronic counter-counter measures, it can engage targets at altitude of up to 20km. India deployed Barak-8 missiles, Akash missiles to thwart Pak attempts India deployed Barak-8 missiles, S-400 Triumph air defence systems, Akash surface-to-air missiles and indigenously developed anti-drone equipment in thwarting Pakistan's attempts to hit 15 Indian cities on Wednesday night, a report by news agency IANS said. Pakistani military attempted to target Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj using missiles and drones.
