The two clubs have held discussions about entering a co-operation agreement which would see the Glasgow giants provide the Kirkcaldy side with young players during the season. The Raith board are keen to proceed with the deal but have decided to consult with their season ticket holders before making any decision. "Before any decision is made regarding a co-operation agreement with a Scottish Premiership club, we have made it clear that such an agreement would be subject to a vote by our season ticket holders. We would therefore like to present the facts of the agreement, share the views of key stakeholders within the club, and give you the opportunity to vote on whether you believe this is the best move for Raith Rovers. "Key Terms of the Proposed Agreement: Rangers may nominate a maximum of three players to move freely between Rangers and Raith Rovers; Rangers will cover the full salary of any player who joins Raith Rovers; Eligible players must be under the age of 21 and qualified to represent Scotland; Raith Rovers can decline any player who is not deemed suitable for our squad; Raith Rovers are under no obligation to play any Rangers player as part of this agreement; This agreement does not replace the traditional loan system. Raith Rovers may still register up to six SPFL loan players if we choose to do so." Raith Rovers manager Barry Robson is in favour of the proposed link-up with Rangers. (Pic by Michael Gillen) Raith manger Barry Robson has thrown his weight behind the proposal. "The squad is taking shape, and with a couple more experienced additions, I believe we'll be in a strong position," he said. "While the players coming through this agreement are younger and less experienced, the deal gives us an opportunity to add depth for matchdays and also in training. I am very much in favour of it." Rovers technical director John Potter also believes the cooperation agreement will benefit the Stark's Park club. "It has been a challenging window for clubs across the Championship, and we're no exception," he stated. "Barry, the recruitment team, and I are still actively identifying players who can make an immediate impact. That includes those suggested by Rangers. Barry has a clear way he wants to play, and we would only accept players from Rangers who can strengthen the squad in line with that approach." Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad

EXCLUSIVE: Ross Matthews pinpoints key factor that can drive Raith Rovers to success next season

Ross Matthews is convinced Raith Rovers can go the distance in their bid for Championship success next season – thanks to their flourishing fitness. Manager Barry Robson demanded powerful running from the Stark's Park side after taking over midway through last term. All the players commented on the tough sessions they were being put through on the training pitch as Robson sought the energy needed to implement his game-plan. It may have been hard work but Matthews insists the Kirkcaldy outfit saw the fruits of their labours as the campaign wore on. And, with the players now just over a week into their pre-season preparations, the vice-captain believes they can power their way to success in 2025/26. 'We're getting used to Barry Robson, knowing the way that he wants to play,' said Matthews, who penned a 12-month contract extension this summer. 'He got us extremely fit at the end of last season. I've told a few people our training is so hard. It's really intense. 'I was dreading pre-season but it'll be a good thing for the team. 'We'll come back being hopefully one of, if not the fittest teams in the league and hopefully it stands us in good stead. He added: 'Even towards the end of last season, normally you'd ease up. Normally the running kind of tails off towards the end of the season, but we continued to do that all through the season. 'But, fair play, that's when our form peaked at that point. We felt fit on the pitch, generally felt like we were fitter than the teams we were playing against. 'Going into the last 10-15 minutes of games, we felt strong. We showed that against Falkirk a couple of times through there, scoring late goals. 'One of our best performances was the last game of the season when we had a really strong second-half. 'We were in a good run of form at the end and we've got to take that into next season now.' Last season was Matthews' most consistent campaign for some time. The 29-year-old made 39 appearances, outstripping the 26 he managed over the previous two years when he was plagued by a foot injury. 'To get that many games under my belt last season was brilliant,' he added. 'I'm feeling extremely fit – like I said, because of the manager's training. 'That was definitely a bonus of last season for myself, just because I had all the niggles the year before and I wasn't fully fit for the majority of that season. 'Touch wood just now, but I had no injury problems last season. So, I'm feeling really good going into this season.'

Just two days later, though, Rovers have had to rejig their preparations following advice from authorities.
