'Legend' Muslera bids farewell to Galatasaray after 551 appearances
Uruguayan international goalkeeper Fernando Muslera made his departure from Galatasaray official on Thursday when he announced that, after 14 seasons with the Turkish club, he would continue his career in South America. The Uruguayan, who turns 39 on June 16, told a press conference that he will play his 551st and final game for Galatasaray in Friday evening's Super Lig season-ender against Basaksehir. "I'm going to continue playing, closer to my homeland... closer to my family," said Muslera, without specifying which league or club he would play for. Since joining from Lazio, with whom he won the Coppa Italia, in 2011, Muslera has become the most capped foreign player in Galatasaray's history. The Uruguayan has also won a joint-record eight league titles as well as six Turkish Super Cups and five Turkish Cups. In a message on social networks, Galatasaray hailed their captain, a club "legend", saying he had become "much more than a goalkeeper". Capped 133 times by Uruguay, he was starting keeper at the 2010, 2014 and 2018 World Cups before dropping to the bench for the 2022 event in Qatar. rba/ig/bsp/nr

‘They go the bench' – Jose Mourinho gives hilarious reply after being quizzed on why he keeps changing Fenerbahce team
JOSE MOURINHO gave a typical 'Special One' response to a question about his constant changing of his Fenerbahce side. The Portuguese gaffer has been chopping and changing his starting XI in recent weeks in a desperate bid to chip away at Galatasaray 's five-point lead at the top of the Turkish top-flight. 3 3 Fenerbahce 's lack of a consistent starting XI was put to the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss after their 4-1 win over Istanbul Basaksehir on Friday night. And the 62-year-old gave a hilarious response to the question, in which he channelled his inner mime to answer. He said: "I have 25 coins, I throw the coins in the air. The ones that stay on the table are the ones that I play. "The ones that go on the floor, they go on the bench. I do it just like this. "During the week, I'm having fun. I go to nightclubs every day in Istanbul, everywhere. "And then when it's time to choose the team, I throw coins with the players' faces (on them). "'The 11 that stay on the table are the 11 that play… it's simple.' Mourinho's coin analogy isn't the first time he's used humour in his post-match press conferences this season. JOIN SUN VEGAS: GET £50 BONUS 3 After their Europa League defeat to Rangers, he pretended to FALL ASLEEP as a journalist ranted in Turkish. While scratching his head, he said: "Oh, this is too much for my head. I'm tired, man. "90 minutes not to listen to all of this, I'm too tired for that." Mourinho has found himself in the headlines several times this season. He was slapped with a three-match ban last month for during the Istanbul derby. And in February, he filed a lawsuit against Fenerbahce's bitter rivals after they accused him of making racist statements.
