Prince William's mistrust of Meghan Markle is stalling peace with Prince Harry: author

Meghan Markle is said to be a major factor in the ongoing feud between Prince William and Prince Harry. The claim was made by Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine and author of "My Mother and I." Seward, who has been writing about the royal family for over 20 years, claimed to Fox News Digital that William, heir to the British throne, is aware of how supporters of the monarchy in the U.K. feel about the Duchess of Sussex. Fox News Digital reached out to Kensington Palace for comment. "The flea in the ointment really is very much Meghan," Seward claimed to Fox News Digital. "She's disliked intensely by a large number of the monarchists of this country. They see her as being very… damaging to the royal family. And also, I think a lot of people in America feel the same. They don't like that Meghan [reportedly] dissed her husband's family and dissed her own family." "It's just extraordinary to think that her children have not met their grandfather," Seward shared, referring to former Hollywood lighting director Thomas Markle. "I think people in the States find that extremely odd, and [we] find it very odd here. And I think that's a real black mark against Meghan's character. I think she hasn't been able to embrace… her own family, however much she feels about them. I mean, Harry's never even met her father, which is extraordinary." "There are a lot of difficult emotions [to] get over there," Seward added. British royal expert Hilary Fordwich also told Fox News Digital that many in the U.K. have "an unfavorable" view of the Duchess, 44. "Persistent lack of trust is the main reason why senior royals remain reluctant to engage in reconciliation efforts," she claimed. "Their concerns are well-founded, that any private family discussions could become public or be used for commercial projects… [Meghan]… has no sense of duty towards the British public nor the institution." WATCH: PRINCE WILLIAM'S MISTRUST OF MEGHAN MARKLE STALLS PEACE WITH PRINCE HARRY: AUTHOR Seward and Fordwich's claims came shortly after People magazine reported in a cover story that William and Harry continue to go "on separate paths" with no communication between them. "The rift is very profound and very long-lasting," Robert Lacey, author of "Battle of Brothers," told the outlet. "It will not be changed, in my opinion, until Harry makes a move and apologizes." Insiders also told the outlet that Harry's calls and messages to William had gone unanswered. Seward pointed out to Fox News Digital that William has "taken a firm stance" in keeping his distance amid the couple's tell-alls in recent years. However, Harry has made it clear that his brother was "unpleasant" to Meghan, she argued. "Harry thinks that William insulted Meghan," said Seward. "I think when you have that kind of animosity, it's really hard to [get around it]. I just don't see any kind of reparation. I just don't see it at this moment." The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back as senior royals in 2020, citing the unbearable intrusions of the British press and a lack of support from the palace. Following their move to California that year, the couple aired their grievances in interviews and documentaries. In 2023, Harry wrote a memoir, "Spare," where he recounts a long-standing sibling rivalry that worsened after he began a relationship with the former American actress, whom he married in 2018. He said that during an argument in 2019, William called Meghan "difficult" and "rude," then grabbed him by the collar and knocked him down. Harry suffered cuts and bruises from landing on a dog bowl. Neither Buckingham Palace nor Kensington Palace have commented on any of the allegations. Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams claimed to Fox News Digital that "a mistrust of Meghan" is "a major reason" why William won't engage with his brother, but only one of many. "William feels Harry has betrayed the royal family," Fitzwilliams explained. "Given… the personal attacks on him in the memoir 'Spare,' reconciliation is likely to be a tough call with the [Prince of Wales]." "There are some things which are not forgotten," Fitzwilliams warned. "Of course, reconciliation is desirable and being in exile, which Harry is, is often very sad… The last time the brothers were together, at the memorial service for Lord Fellowes last August, they reportedly didn't speak. I doubt much has changed." In May of this year, Harry said he wanted to reconcile with his family after losing a court battle over his publicly funded security. The 40-year-old said his father, who is battling an undisclosed form of cancer, wouldn't speak to him. "I would love reconciliation with my family. There's no point in continuing to fight anymore," said Harry. "I don't know how much longer my father has." Seward said there's a good reason the king, 76, has also been keeping his distance. "I think that Harry is… very saddened by the fact that he has failed to reconcile at least with his father," said Seward. "But it is not that his father doesn't love him. It's because his father doesn't trust his son not to repeat what he says. He can't have that happen. So it's easier for [the royal family] to avoid the issue. "It's human nature, really, to just avoid confrontation. If you can't deal with it, and you don't know how to deal with it, or if there's no way of dealing with it, you just avoid it. And you can do that easily when you have a very, very busy life." Royal expert Ian Pelham Turner told Fox News Digital he remains hopeful the two families can eventually come together. "I believe it to be totally correct that members of the royal family do not trust Meghan," he said. "And of course, she does not trust some members of the royal family in return… Also, if every member of the royal family [doesn't trust Meghan], then why did King Charles instigate a meeting with his senior advisor and that of Harry and Meghan's team? Is it all the royal family or is it perhaps William?" "I hope that Harry and Meghan are warmly welcomed back to Britain with their children," he added. But Seward doesn't see Meghan, who is raising two children in California, returning to the U.K. anytime soon. The Duchess of Sussex is gearing up to launch Season 2 of her Netflix lifestyle series, "With Love, Meghan." "I don't think that Meghan has any intention of wanting to come back and live in the U.K.," she said. "Why should she? She's got a beautiful house in Montecito. She's got a lot of work in LA. Her friends are there. Her life is there. Why would she want to come back here? No reason at all. I certainly wouldn't if I were her. Why would you come back to a country where people really didn't like you or want you?" Still, Seward noted that Princess Diana "would've hated the idea that her boys weren't speaking to each other." Harry's glamorous mother died in August 1997 at age 36 from injuries she sustained in a car crash. "I think she would've been the one person that could have brought them together, possibly," said Seward. "They never would've fallen out. But… Harry has always been very conscious of the fact that he's 'the spare.' As we know, he wrote a book about it. And not just that, but he kept mentioning it. And William has always been rather jealous that Harry had all the fun without the responsibility of being a future monarch." "I feel that [this] won't go on forever," said Seward. "I just feel that at some stage… they will begin to come together." People magazine reported that Harry is expected to be back in the U.K. in September. He'll be supporting WellChild, a charity that helps children with life-limiting conditions. It's unknown whether Harry will reunite with at least his father. "This is the sadness of it – [the brothers] aren't supporting each other like they should be," a source close to the royal household told the outlet. "That's what any mother would want – that they are there for each other."

Expert makes bombshell Diana claim about Prince Harry and William's ongoing feud

Princess Diana would have been "a peacemaker" and ended the "cold war" between her two sons Prince William and Prince Harry, a royal biographer has claimed A royal biographer has suggested that Princess Diana would have played the role of a "peacemaker" amidst the ongoing feud between Prince William and Prince Harry. ‌ Andrew Morton, renowned for his documentation of the late Princess of Wales' life, claims that the continuing tension between Diana's sons is a "great loss for the monarchy", as he states that she would have 'put an end to the cold war' between the princes. ‌ Despite their lack of communication following years of public criticism from the Sussexes, both William and Harry continue to honour their late mother's legacy through various charitable endeavours, as they gear up to commemorate the 28th anniversary of Diana's death. ‌ This follows Prince Harry's recent admission that he still considers himself part of the Royal Family. When Princess Diana tragically passed away on August 31, 1997, William and Harry, then aged 15 and 12 respectively, were united in their sorrow. Fast forward to the present day, and the brothers couldn't be more distant, but Royal biographer Andrew Morton believes that Diana would have been instrumental in building bridges, reports the Mirror. Speaking to People, he said: "Diana always used to say she had two boys for a reason - the younger would be there to support the older in the lonely task as future King. There is no doubt Diana would have tried to act as a peacemaker between them. If she had been around, they would have worked things out in a different way." He added: "We all remember the days when Harry and William were joshing with one another, and it all seemed set for their relationship and the future - that Harry, as Diana always used to say, would be William's wingman. It's a great loss for the monarchy." ‌ Relations between William and Harry deteriorated in 2020 when Harry and wife Meghan Markle stepped back from royal duties and moved to California. The divide only widened following the Sussexes' 2021 sit-down with Oprah Winfrey and Harry's 2023 tell-all book Spare, both of which took aim at senior members of 'the Firm'. According to Andrew Morton: "Things were said that sparked the initial rift, and it's never healed." ‌ Harry himself reflected this view during a BBC interview in May, stating: "Some members of my family will never forgive me." Harry has been vocal about his desire for reconciliation with his relatives. Speculation about a potential peace deal emerged last month when senior advisers to both Harry and King Charles were seen at a London meeting, though William's team were reportedly excluded from the gathering. Insiders have suggested that Harry's phone calls and texts to William have been ignored, with Robert Lacey, author of Battle of Brothers, explaining: "They both deeply believe that they're fighting for profound points of principle." ‌ Whilst a royal reunion remains elusive, countless supporters continue to wish for the brothers to make amends, with many believing it would honour Diana's memory. A source close to the Royal household expressed: "This is the sadness of it - they aren't supporting each other like they should be. That's what any mother would want - that they are there for each other." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community!

Heartbreaking update in Prince Harry and William feud as author drops Diana bombshell

A royal author has revealed a heartbreaking detail in the years-long row between Princes William and Harry, as he reveals what Diana would have done to heal wounds A royal biographer has claimed that Princess Diana would have acted as a "peacemaker" during the years-long feud between Prince William and Prince Harry. ‌ Andrew Morton, who famously documented the life of the late Princess of Wales, believes that the long-running rift between Diana's two sons is a "great loss for the monarchy" and said Diana would have 'put an end to the cold war' between the princes. ‌ William and Harry are not on speaking terms after years of public barbs from the Sussexes, but the two men are still carrying on their late mother's life's work through their various philanthropic efforts, and are preparing to mark the 28th anniversary of Diana's untimely death. It comes after Prince Harry 'admits he is still part of the Royal Family and finally sees sense'. ‌ When Princess Diana tragically died on August 31st 1997, William and Harry - who were 15 and 12 respectively at the time - were united in grief. Now, decades later, they couldn't be further apart, but oyal biographer Andrew Morton says that Diana would have played a key part in healing wounds. ‌ He told People: "Diana always used to say she had two boys for a reason — the younger would be there to support the older in the lonely task as future King. There is no doubt Diana would have tried to act as a peacemaker between them. If she had been around, they would have worked things out in a different way." He added: "We all remember the days when Harry and William were joshing with one another, and it all seemed set for their relationship and the future — that Harry, as Diana always used to say, would be William's wingman. It's a great loss for the monarchy." Tensions between William and Harry deepened in 2020 when Harry and Meghan quit royal life and relocated to California. The rift then only grew after the Sussexes 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey and Harry's 2023 memoir Spare, which were both critical of the royal family. ‌ According to Andrew Morton: "Things were said that sparked the initial rift, and it's never healed." Harry himself echoed the sentiment during an interview with the BBC in May, in which he said: "Some members of my family will never forgive me." Harry has spoken openly about his hope for reconciliation with his family. Hopes of a truce were sparked last month when senior aides to both Harry and King Charles were spotted at a meeting in London, but William's representatives were reportedly not invited to the appointment. ‌ Sources have claimed that Harry's calls and messages to William have gone unanswered, with Robert Lacey, author of Battle of Brothers, saying: "They both deeply believe that they're fighting for profound points of principle." While a royal reconciliation has not yet materialised, many royal fans have long hoped for a reunion between the brothers, with some saying it is what Diana would have wanted. A source close to the royal household said: "This is the sadness of it — they aren't supporting each other like they should be. That's what any mother would want — that they are there for each other."

Prince George's future destiny 'laid bare by William and Kate Middleton on landmark day'

Prince George's life has been set out before him from the moment he was born, knowing that all roads in his future lead to him becoming King. Thankfully, he has already been shown the ropes by his parents as he becomes a more focal part of the royal family With Prince George 's 12th birthday right around the corner, all eyes are on the young royal as he approaches his adolescence and becomes more of a focal point of the royal family. As the youngster continues to come into his own as a royal and appear more at royal engagements, many have long wondered how George was informed about his destiny as King. ‌ From the moment he was born, all roads have led to him eventually ascending to the throne, which was no doubt confronting for a young boy. Thankfully, George has had his parents, Prince William and Princess Kate, to steer him in the right direction and show him the royal ropes as he steps out in the public eye more and more. ‌ ‌ Royal commentator Robert Lacey speculated about the young royal's future in his book Battle of Brothers, as he has long been curious about howGeorge was informed of his extraordinary future role and how he reacted to being told he is an heir to the throne. Lacey penned: "William has not revealed to the world how and when he broke the big news to his son. Maybe one day George will tell us the story himself. But sometime around the boy's seventh birthday in the summer of 2020 it is thought that his parents went into more detail about what the little prince's life of future royal 'service and duty' would particularly involve." Robert further added that William and Kate wanted to have a conversation with George at a "controlled moment of their choice" when he turned seven. ‌ This decision was reportedly linked to "William's unhappiness at the haphazard fashion in which the whole business of his royal destiny had buzzed around his head from the start," as the Prince of Wales endured the same fate as his oldest son as the first heir to the throne after his father King Charles. To help with his preparation to eventually become King, even though his ascension to the throne is likely still decades away, George will begin receiving special lessons on everything from his official duties to the constitution and the importance of the Commonwealth. ‌ While the headmaster at Lambrook School, where the Wales children all attend, stated that they give students 'feathers to fly so that when they leave us, they will spread their wings and take flight," George will also no doubt receive a more intense education on his future role as King when he begins secondary school in 2026. Many royal commentators are expecting that George will follow in his father's footsteps and attend Eton College, while others believe that the young royal will be enrolled at Princess Kate's alma mater of Marlborough College.

Prince William Has a Careful Plan to Prepare Prince George for His Future

Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis all made an unexpected appearance on May 5 at events commemorating VE Day's 80th anniversary. Later in the day, George made another surprise appearance, this time at a tea party for veterans at Buckingham Palace alongside his parents, Prince William and Kate Middleton. It marked a major step forward for 11-year-old George and his gradual introduction to his destiny as king. Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis made a surprise appearance alongside their parents Prince William and Kate Middleton on Monday, attending events commemorating the 80th anniversary of VE Day and the end of World War II in Europe in 1945. But it was only 11-year-old George who joined the Prince and Princess of Wales for a tea party, where he took a major step forward on his path to one day be king. At the tea party on May 5, George 'listened attentively to the veterans who were invited to Buckingham Palace and appeared genuinely interested in their stories from the war, often asking follow-up questions,' The Daily Mail reported. The poignant event doubled as George's 'first official function'—and all part of William and Kate's careful plan to slowly give George a 'small taste of his future duties as King,' wrote Rebecca English of The Daily Mail. Getty Prince George, Prince William, and Kate Middleton at Buckingham Palace on May 5, 2025 Prince George, Prince William, and Kate Middleton at Buckingham Palace on May 5, 2025 William has said in the past that he would introduce George to his future role as king when the time was right: 'As far as I'm concerned, within my family unit, we are a normal family,' he told the BBC in 2016, when George wasn't yet three years old. 'There will be a time and a place to bring George up and understand how he fits in the world, but right now it's just a case of showing a secure, stable environment around him.' For context, George is second in line to the throne, behind only William, his father. Royal biographer Robert Lacey wrote in his book Battle of Brothers that William and Kate wanted to tell their eldest child about his destiny in what Lacey called a 'controlled moment of their choice.' The couple's careful plan around George's introduction to royal life came after William's 'unhappiness at the haphazard fashion in which the whole business of his royal destiny had bussed around his head from the start,' Lacey wrote, adding that the conversation happened around George's seventh birthday, which fell in July 2020. Another major royal milestone is set to happen this summer, as when George turns 12—which will happen this July 22—he will be advised to not travel on the same plane as William so as to preserve the future of the monarchy. Of simultaneously preparing George for his future while also ensuring he has as normal a childhood as possible, 'It's a massive balancing act,' a palace source told People. For what it's worth, George made an impression on veterans he spoke to Monday, with one veteran—a 101-year-old hero named Alfred—telling William of his son, 'You should be very proud.'
