Former indie candidate ‘Cleopatra' applies to join PAS

(Facebook pic) PETALING JAYA : Nur Fathiah Syazwana Shaharuddin, one of the independent candidates who contested for the Batu parliamentary seat in the 2022 general election, has applied to join PAS. The PAS women's wing said Nur Fathiah, better known as Cleopatra, submitted her membership application form today at the Islamic party's headquarters in Kuala Lumpur. The wing said Nur Fathiah, a single mother, wanted to join PAS for the sake of her children's future. 'Besides being known as an activist who does humanitarian work and founded the NGO, Hetero Action Women Alliance, she is also a social media influencer who's an important voice in championing community development and social issues,' it said in a Facebook post. Nur Fathiah was among 10 candidates who took part in the race for the hotly-contested seat of Batu during GE15. A total of four independent candidates had contested, with the remaining candidates coming from Pakatan Harapan, Barisan Nasional, Perikatan Nasional, Pejuang, Warisan and Parti Rakyat Malaysia. Nur Fathiah obtained only 628 votes, behind fellow independent candidate, lawyer-activist Siti Kasim, while P Prabarakan of PKR retained the seat with a comfortable majority of 22,241 votes.

Local Influencer CEO Batu Back On TikTok Following Release From Police Custody?
Last week, Malaysian netizens were outraged after local influencer CEO Batu was exposed for sending inappropriate images to a 14-year-old. Unfortunately, many believe the content creator isn't remorseful of his actions. For those unfamiliar with the case, CEO Batu is a Malaysian influencer known for his comedic videos on TikTok. However, last week, singer Caprice exposed the public figure for sending inappropriate photos to a 14-year-old fan. Caprice also alleged that there are other victims, also minors. CEO Batu was arrested by authorities on 22nd May 2025 and released on police bail on 27th May 2025 (Tuesday). However, on Wednesday morning, a Twitter user alleged that CEO Batu created a new TikTok account shortly after being released. His previous TikTok account, which boasted over a million followers, was banned from the platform following his arrest. The supposed creation of the new account sparked outrage amongst netizens, with many lamenting that the media personality seemed unfazed by his recent case. The Twitter post also highlighted the surprising number of followers that the account already has. The user argued that this, unfortunately, showcases Malaysians' tendency to support disgraced influencers despite them getting implicated in serious crimes like paedophilia. However, some netizens expressed doubt, arguing that CEO Batu may have created the account before his recent arrest as a backup, or someone else may have created it to ride on the current issue. It's unknown when the account was made or whether it belongs to CEO Batu. Nevertheless, netizens are angry over the support the influencer is still receiving despite there being evidence of him sending inappropriate photos to a minor. Many also lament the shocking number of people defending CEO Batu on social media, adding that it draws concern for the safety of children. CEO Batu's case is being investigated under Section 15(e) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017. (Video) Local Influencer CEO Batu Exposed For Sending Inappropriate Photos To A 14yo
While most influencers set out to create positive impacts on their fans, some get exposed for being terrible people in real life. Recently, Malaysian rapper-turned-enterpreneur Caprice exposed a popular content creator for sending inappropriate photos to a minor. Through his Instagram, Caprice alleged that a fan reached out about local influencer CEO Batu, who has been talking to his underage fans on social media. Shockingly, the content even sent an inappropriate picture to the fan during their conversation. The video Caprice posted showed alleged conversations between CEO Batu and the minor, whom he claimed was 14 years old, on TikTok. In the screenshots posted, CEO Batu and the victim first got in contact through TikTok DMs, talking about meeting to collaborate on a TikTok video. They then continued chatting on WhatsApp, where the influencer shared about a recent injury. He later offered to show a photo of his scar, then shared the inappropriate image. The picture depicts CEO Batu's lower torso, where the scar was, and a glimpse at his private parts, which Caprice had censored. Through his Instagram Stories, Caprice followed up on the issue, revealing that CEO Batu had contacted the victim's mother after the incident. The influencer claimed that he mistakenly sent the photo, intending to crop the image before sending it. He also added that the photo was for his girlfriend. CEO Batu also allegedly begged the victim's mother not to report the incident to the authorities, saying he could face a 10-year jail term. After exposing the influencer, Caprice shared a DM he received from a netizen who claimed to know CEO Batu through her husband. The netizen alleged that the content creator is sex-crazed as he often shares intimate videos of himself and his girlfriend with his friends and openly talks about racy topics. Caprice also claimed that more victims had come out against CEO Batu. Netizens have reacted to the issue, condemning the influencer. Many are also calling for the authorities to arrest CEO Batu. Others also shamed him for sharing private photos with his fans. However, some netizens criticised the victim, noting that she contacted the influencer first. Some also argued that minors shouldn't have access to TikTok, where they can be exposed to danger. The issue is still under development, so CEO Batu's fate remains unknown. Girl, 12, falls to death from Batu Muda PPR flat in Jinjang; cops investigating
KUALA LUMPUR, April 21 — A 12-year-old girl died this afternoon after falling from the sixth floor of the Batu Muda People's Housing Programme (PPR) flats in Jinjang. Sentul police chief Assistant Commissioner Sukarno Zahari said police were alerted to the incident at 2.24pm, according to a report today in Free Malaysia Today.
