Lia Toyota donates $15K to Baystate Children's Hospital
WILBRAHAM, Mass. (WWLP) – A well-known car dealership in our area is supporting Baystate Children's Hospital. Lia Toyota of Wilbraham presented a check worth $15,000 on Tuesday, making it the dealership's 8th consecutive year supporting the children at Baystate. General Manager of Lia Toyota Riley Campbell, explained why it's so important for them to be involved in their community. 'We try to serve the community that gives us business,' she says. 'Baystate Children's Hospital is a great sponsorship opportunity and a positive impact on the community.' The money raised will go towards the 25th annual WMAS radiothon for Baystate Children's Hospital. 24th Annual 94.7 WMAS Radiathon raises over $250K for Baystate Children's Hospital
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The 24th Annual 94.7 WMAS Radiothon took place at the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Tuesday and Wednesday. Volunteers gathered to make and answer calls to raise money for Baystate Children's Hospital. This year, they raised $256,235.00. All of the funds raised will go towards upgrading facilities, buying new medical equipment, and prioritizing children's care. 'Without the generosity of these donors or these volunteers or our great company sponsors we would not be able to upgrade facilities or replace equipment,' says Pediatrician in Chief of Baystate Children's Hospital, Charlotte Boney. WMAS Radiothon raises over $250K for Baystate Children's Hospital
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The WMAS Radiothon for Baystate Children's Hospital has come to a close. The radiothon's second day has come to a close as volunteers manned the phones until 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Inspiring stories of life-changing care featured during 94.7 WMAS Radiothon for Baystate Children's Hospital This fundraiser supports the only full-service children's hospital in the area, providing life-saving care to children like Emilia Cecchetelli. Emilia was born at just 26 weeks old. After over 140 days in intensive care, she made a full recovery. Emilia's brother Abram told 22News about their positive experience at Baystate. 'I love Baystate because my sister had to spend a long time in the hospital and they just took care of her left and right, and I'm very thankful for that,' Abram Cecchetelli said. The final tally on donations was announced Wednesday evening, with the event raising a grand total of $256,235. 'Every family wants highly-reliable, safe care for their children, and those who have contributed to this event are supporting resources to do just this, helping families when they need us most,' said Peter D. Banko, President & CEO of Baystate Health. 'I am grateful for the generosity from our sponsors, community and caregivers.' These funds will go directly in support of pediatric care at Baystate Children's Hospital, including the purchase of equipment, continued medical research, and the ongoing development of an inviting and welcoming space for patients. Her story is a testament to the dedication of the hospital's medical team and the power of community support. Eight-year-old Ryan Caney was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome. Three years ago, he came down with a cold and began to complain that his feet hurt. Over days, this started to work its way up his body causing him to stop walking. He was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder where your body's immune system mistakenly attacks its nervous system. Ryan was the 2024 Children's Miracle Network Ambassador for Baystate Children's Hospital and had the chance to go to Disney World, where he was featured during Children's Hospital Week. Lulu is a 5-year-old girl who underwent surgery for Retropharyngeal abscess and peritonsillar abscess after complaining of neck pain. It's a rare infection that can occur in the neck and throat. After treatment, Lulu has fully recovered and no longer needs extra care. 'Each year, I feel so inspired by the stories we are able to share and the families we are able to meet,' said Chris Kellogg of 94.7 WMAS. 'Baystate Children's Hospital plays such a critical role in our community, and we are happy to support it in any way we can.'
