An allegedly armed suspect barricaded themself in a San Fernando Valley home on Monday morning, prompting a large response from law enforcement and forcing a local school to alter plans for the day.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded to the 14000 block of Gruen Street in the neighborhood of Arleta at about 12:50 a.m. on reports of a suspect who threatened a family member with a firearm.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that the suspect was alone inside the home and was allegedly still armed with at least one gun.

"The Beachy Elementary School campus will be closed until further notice," the statement reads. "However, our teachers and support staff will be available at Canterbury Elementary School to support your student's instructional needs. We will also have school mental health on site to support."
