BEAUFORT: A 1.5-metre-long crocodile weighing 20kg was captured after it reportedly entered a house compound in Kampung Lajau, last Thursday. Beaufort Civil Defence Force (APM) Officer Captain Hazlee Shah Abd Hamid said a team was dispatched to the scene immediately after receiving an emergency call at 12.50am. 'The crocodile was secured using a special snare before being tied up and brought to the APM base. It was handed over to the Wildlife Department (Perhilitan) the following day,' he said. In Kampung Kabajang, a resident and his wife managed to trap a baby cobra that had entered their home. 'My wife quickly covered it with a bucket. I then stepped on it until it died. Our house is close to a forest and I believe the mother snake is still nearby,' he said. In a separate incident at Beaufort Sentral on Wednesday, a trader, Norhayani Awang, had a shocking encounter when a baby python was found hiding beneath her vehicle. She called her husband and son, who later managed to capture the reptile. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
