Bed Bath & Beyond brand returns with new store in Nashville
Bed Bath & Beyond is making a comeback under a slightly different name, more than two years after filing for bankruptcy. The first Bed Bath & Beyond Home store will open in Nashville on Friday, a new version of the former big box retail store known for selling home furnishings, appliances and more, at mid-range prices. Overseeing the opening is The Brand House Collective, formerly known as Kirkland's, which manages a portfolio of retail stores including Beyond Inc.'s Bed Bath & Beyond Home, Bed Bath & Beyond, Buy Buy Baby and Overstock. "We will be testing and learning the right inventory mix by category and by brand, but the look and feel of the stores will be a transition from the original Bed Bath and Beyond stores with a tighter focus on Seasonal Home Decor, Bedroom furnishings, and Bath and Laundry products," Starr Hudgens, chief of staff at the Brand House Collective, told CBS MoneyWatch. The Brand House Collective announced the opening of the Nashville store late last month. "We're proud to reintroduce one of retail's most iconic names with the launch of Bed Bath & Beyond Home, beautifully reimagined for how families gather at home today," Amy Sullivan, CEO of The Brand House Collective, said at the time. To lure former customers back in the door, Brand House said it would honor legacy Bed Bath & Beyond coupons — the big white and blue paper slips that have long been associated with the company. "The coupon we all know and love is back and for those who need one, a fresh version will be waiting at the door," the company said in the announcement. Asked whether Brand House plans to open more stores under the Bed Bath & Beyond Home moniker, Hudgens said, "We are opening four additional Bed Bath and Beyond Home stores in the Nashville market and will be in an aggressive learn and react posture to determine appropriate merchandising, brand, and strategy shifts to make as we plan our opening strategy for 2026." The opening of the Nashville location marks a new chapter for the discount retailer which struggled to stay afloat amid depressed sales and the takeoff of online shopping. The company finally got into the e-commerce game after naming Mark Tritton, a former top Target executive, as CEO in 2019. But by then the company was too far behind top competitors, according to experts. The company had over 300 brick-and-mortar locations before closing all of them after it entered Chapter 11 proceedings in April 2023. Months later, it announced it would return as an online home furnishings brand under its new owner In 2024, made a bid to sell Bed Bath & Beyond products at over 100 of its Container Store locations in an effort to revive the struggling retail chain with the help of the Bed Bath & Beyond name. With the opening of the Bed Bath & Beyond Home store in Tennessee, Brand House Collective is taking a major step is resurrecting its troubled retail brands, according to John Bringardner, executive editor at Debtwire, an analytics platform that tracks companies in debt. "The company has undertaken a massive turnaround effort, closing underperforming store locations, reducing excess inventory and creating a fresh new look and marketing plan," Bringardner told CBS MoneyWatch. "But its underlying financials remain deeply troubled and the success of the relaunch will be an uphill battle." Bed Bath & Beyond opened as a privately held business in 1971 and went public in 1992. It once had thousands of stores globally, according to data from Statista. NEED TO KNOW Bed, Bath & Beyond closed all of its 360 brick-and-mortar stores in July 2023 In October 2024, the retailer partnered with The Brand House Collective, formerly known as Kirkland's Inc. The new collaboration has launched the return of the brick-and-mortar store, with a new name: Bed, Bath & Beyond HomeBed, Bath & Beyond is back — but with a new name! The popular home goods store has reentered the brick-and-mortar scene, two years after shutting down its last store. The new Nashville location opened on Friday, Aug. 8, and will now be known as Bed, Bath & Beyond Home. This follows the company's announcement in 2023 that it filed for bankruptcy and closed all of its physical stores, with the last one closing in July that year. The company still has a significant internet shopping presence. The revival of the storefront follows the company's October 2024 partnership with The Brand House Collective, formerly known as Kirkland's Inc. Bed, Bath & Beyond Home is now a production of the partnership. "We're proud to reintroduce one of retail's most iconic names with the launch of Bed Bath & Beyond Home, beautifully reimagined for how families gather at home today," Amy Sullivan, CEO of The Brand House Collective, said in a press release. "This isn't just a store, it's a fresh start for a brand that means something special to so many families. With Bed Bath & Beyond Home, we're delivering on our mission to offer great brands, for any budget, in every room," she continued. In April 2023, it filed for Chapter 11 protection after several failed attempts to reboot its business. The company announced it would be closing all 360 of its brick-and-mortar stores, and its sister chain, Buy Buy Baby, which the home retailer acquired in 2007, also revealed plans to shut down its business. Bed Bath & Beyond released a general statement to shoppers on its website at the time: "Thank you to all of our loyal customers. We have made the difficult decision to begin winding down our operations. Bed Bath & Beyond and Buy Buy Baby stores remain open to serve you." In August 2023, which launched as an online liquidator in 1999, acquired Bed Bath & Beyond's name, intellectual property and digital assets two months later for $21.5 million. Bed Bath & Beyond rises from the dead — and yes, they'll take your coupons
In the early 2000s, it was hard to pass through any major suburban center and not cross a Bed Bath & Beyond. The home retail stores were ubiquitous back then and so popular that one of the brand's locations featured as a major plot point in the 2006 Adam Sandler comedy Click, which grossed nearly a quarter billion dollars worldwide. But in the nearly two decades since then, Bed Bath & Beyond suffered the same challenges many major retailers have experienced: declining foot traffic, a shift in consumer shopping habits from physical to online stores, and rising costs due to inflation. The once ubiquitous chain ended up going bankrupt in 2023 and subsequently closed all its stores. Now, however, one of those stores is back from the beyond—and it's even accepting old Bed Bath & Beyond coupons. Here's what you need to know. BBB is back from the beyond Shortly after Bed Bath & Beyond filed for bankruptcy in 2023, online shopping giant acquired the former retailer's name and rebranded itself as Bed Bath & Beyond. And now, Overstock's owner, The Brand House Collective, Inc., has announced it will open its first physical Bed Bath & Beyond store again. However, fans of the brick-and-mortar retailer shouldn't get their hopes up for a nationwide revival. As of now, The Brand House Collective has only announced plans to open one Bed Bath & Beyond. One. The company also announced that the store would feature a slight name change. Instead of being known as 'Bed Bath & Beyond,' the new store will be called 'Bed Bath & Beyond Home,' likely to hammer home the point that the store is a home goods outlet. Announcing the new store opening, Amy Sullivan, CEO of The Brand House Collective, said, 'We're proud to reintroduce one of retail's most iconic names with the launch of Bed Bath & Beyond Home, beautifully reimagined for how families gather at home today.' She continued, 'This isn't just a store, it's a fresh start for a brand that means something special to so many families. With Bed Bath & Beyond Home we're delivering on our mission to offer great brands, for any budget, in every room.' Get your (old) coupons ready The Brand House Collective has also chosen to implement a unique marketing gimmick for Bed Bath & Beyond's physical revival: the new store will accept old Bed Bath & Beyond coupons. One of the big draws of former Bed Bath & Beyond stores was that they often offered customer coupons that could lead to significant deals and discounts. For the grand opening of the new store, customers with those old coupons will be able to use them again. 'We encourage guests to bring in their legacy Bed Bath & Beyond coupons which we will gladly honor,' the company said in its press release. It also confirmed the new store will issue new coupons to guests as well. Where and when does the new Bed Bath & Beyond open? The new Bed Bath & Beyond location opens today, Friday, August 8, 2025 in Nashville, Tennessee. As for The Brand House Collective, it's unlikely the opening of the new physical store will do much for its bottom line. The company's stock (Nasdaq: TBHC) is currently trading down 3.1% as of the time of this writing to $1.21 per share.

America's favorite home improvement store back from the dead
Bed, Bath & Beyond is making a comeback with a new bricks-and-mortar store. The new location in Nashville, known as 'Bed, Bath & Beyond Home', aims to offer furnishings for 'every room'. The store opened today, August 8, and fans will be able to use their old Bed, Bath & Beyond coupons. It is the brand's first foray back into physical stores after it filed for bankruptcy in 2023. In October 2024 the brand entered into a partnership with The Brand House Collective, formerly known as Kirkland's Inc, and the new store is a product of that collaboration. 'We're proud to reintroduce one of retail's most iconic names with the launch of Bed Bath & Beyond Home, beautifully reimagined for how families gather at home today,' Amy Sullivan, CEO of The Brand House Collective, said in a statement. 'This isn't just a store, it's a fresh start for a brand that means something special to so many families. As well as honoring old coupons, that customers feared had become worthless after the bankruptcy, Bed, Bath & Beyond said it would be bringing the much-loved tradition back. 'The coupon we all know and love is back and for those who need one, a fresh version will be waiting at the door,' the company revealed. In addition to celebrate the opening the first 25 customers at the store will receive a free queen-size memory foam mattress worth $226.99. Bed, Bath and Beyond had been selling its products online since it emerged from bankruptcy last year. Despite the cost-cutting measure of closing all its physical stores the company continues to bleed cash. It lost $259 million last year, including a dismal 21 percent slide in sales in the last quarter. Bosses told investors on Tuesday that the company is cutting the number of items offered from 12 million to six million. Bed Bath & Beyond was founded in 1971 as a niche homeware store 'Bed N Bath' and went on to become one of the nation's most iconic big box brands. Beyond Inc., which bought beleaguered Bed Bath & Beyond out of bankruptcy, also invested $40 million in The Container Store, which itself recently emerged from bankruptcy. The bathroom goods favorite now stocks its products on shelves at The Container Store following these deals. Store closures have continued to gather pace and remain on track to far surpass the number of stores that shut down last year. 5,822 stores closed in the first half of the year alone, a new report from Coresight Research revealed. By comparison, 7,325 brick-and-mortar stores were closed in the whole of last year. Coresight predicted that as many as 15,000 stores would shut up shop in 2025. While the figures remain under that prediction for now, experts are still concerned about the future of in-store retail as ecommerce giants continue to surge ahead.
