Dozens of families gather for pony and trap charity day in south Essex
Dozens of families gathered at a pony and trap charity day in south Essex. A total of 69 traps pulled by ponies and horses made their way from Canvey to Benfleet and Old Leigh on Saturday, before returning to Canvey's seafront for the final leg. The event was attended by the Southend neighbourhood policing team of Essex Police who were pleased to report the event "went well". Police - Essex Police attended the event (Image: Essex Police) Officers were present throughout the day to ensure a smooth procedure and road safety. An Essex Police spokesperson said: 'Essex Police were present throughout the day to keep a 'rein' on road safety and ensure that everyone could enjoy the 'mane' event. 'Officers are pleased to report the event went well, without any hitches or horsing around."

Crash at Sadlers Farm causing queues on A13 with lane partially blocked
A CRASH on a major Castle Point roundabout connecting Canvey and Benfleet to the A13 and A130 is causing long queues of traffic this morning. The crash on Sadlers farm roundabout was first reported at approximately 8.30am this morning and has partially blocked one of the lanes, causing traffic jams in both directions. A130 Canvey Way partially blocked northbound by a collision about midway between Somnes Avenue and A13 – traffic queues back to Somnes Avenue – also delays northbound on Canvey Road to Benfleet High Street. — Essex Travel News (@Essex_Travel) June 12, 2025 Queues are most severe on the A130 both ways between B1014 Somnes Avenue and Sadlers Farm Roundabout, with Canvey way and London Road being impacted by the slow-moving traffic.
