Will skin you alive, Rohingya: BJP leader snaps at man over 'Joy Bangla' slogan
Leader of the Opposition in the Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, lost his cool when a Trinamool supporter raised "Jai Bangla" slogans during his "Kannya Surokha Jyatra" (Daughter Safety March) in Hooghly district, and threatened to "skin him alive."As Adhikari was heading to join the march at Radhanagar, Trinamool supporter Sheikh Moidul shouted "Jai Bangla" slogans, prompting Adhikari to storm out of his car and respond with "Jai Shri Ram" chants. Moidul claimed he did this because he was angered by Adhikari's speeches on situation escalated when Adhikari allegedly called Moidul a "Rohingya," and his bodyguards reportedly pushed Moidul, causing a minor hand injury. Local Trinamool leader Swapan Nandi condemned Adhikari's behaviour, stating that Trinamool activists were protesting in the area against the alleged the 1.2-minute-long clip on its Twitter handle, TMC wrote, "Just two words are enough to rattle @BJP4India to its core: Joy Bangla!"In the video, Suvendu Adhikari can be seen storming out of his car and confronting Moidul, saying, "Jai Shri Ram. I am a Hindu's son," to which Moidul replied, "Joy Bangla." Suvendu was then seen asking his guards to remove Moidul from his sight as he continued chanting, "Joy Bangla." "I have defeated your Mamata," Suvendu was heard saying—referring to his 2021 Assembly win over the Bengal Chief Minister from Nandigram. The "Joy Bangla" slogan is seen as a counter to the BJP's "Jai Shri Ram." In 2019, Mamata Banerjee also stopped her cavalcade when she was greeted with "Jai Shri Ram" slogans during a visit to North 24 Parganas. Even in that incident, she got down from her car and confronted the sloganeers.- Ends

TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee claimed that after the 2026 Bengal Assembly polls, it is the BJP that will be electorally 'sent to detention camps and wiped out' from the state Press Trust of India Kolkata TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee on Sunday tore into the BJP, branding it a 'Bangla-Birodhi' party, alleging that it wants to send Bengalis to detention camps. He also claimed that after the 2026 Bengal Assembly polls, it is the BJP that will be electorally "sent to detention camps and wiped out" from the state. The BJP wants to take Bengalis to detention camps. I want to tell them clearly after the 2026 elections, it is you whom we will send to the detention camps, the TMC national general secretary said, addressing TMC's Martyrs' Day rally. Claiming that the BJP is a Bangla-Birodhi party (anti-Bengal party), Banerjee alleged that it has consistently targeted Bengalis for speaking their mother tongue. Just because we speak Bengali, we are being targeted. Why doesn't the BJP take action against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for his continuous attacks on the Bengali language? It shows their true colours, he asked. Banerjee said that if required, TMC MPs would speak in Bengali in Parliament in the ongoing session. Let the BJP try to stop us. If needed, we will speak in Bengali inside Parliament during this session and see if they dare silence our voice, he added.
