Dense fog expected on Sunday; Genesis Scottish Open moves to two-tee start for final round
Due to forecasted haar (dense sea fog) in the area in the morning and evening, tee times for Sunday's final round of the #GenesisScottishOpen have been adjusted. There will now be a two tee start from the first and tenth tees between approximately 11:30 and 13:40, with final putt… One of the highlights of the Genesis Scottish Open is the spectacular backdrop at the Renaissance Club near North Berwick, which offers vistas along the south shore of the Firth of Forth, an inlet of the North Sea. But one of the drawbacks of that picturesque locale is the potential for sea fog, which can get incredibly thick. Local forecasters are expecting a healthy dose of that fog on Sunday and, accordingly, the final-round tee times at the event have been adjusted to a two-tee start from approximately 11:30 a.m. to 1:40 p.m. local time. Scotland is five hours ahead of ET. The final round will start at 6:30 a.m. ET. Coverage has been adjusted as well with CNBC starting coverage at 9 a.m., and Golf Channel picking things up at 10 a.m. The Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland, is the stage once again. The 7,282-yard, par-70, Tom Doak-design opened in 2001 and ranks 10th on the Golfweek's Best 2025: The top 50 classic courses in Great Britain and Ireland list.

Stunning home at private golf club in Arizona sells on first day for nearly $7 million
A new home built in a prestigious northern Arizona private golf community sold for nearly $7 million the first day it hit the market. The Jay Morrish-designed Pine Canyon Golf Club in Flagstaff, Arizona, completed a $6.4 million renovation last August and some new lots also went on the market. This new home that was just purchased is a five-bedroom, six-bathroom stunner that sits along the golf course's fifth hole. It is 5,900 square feet and its best features are the views of the golf course and surrounding mountains, thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows and multiple patios. It's the first home by Two Hawks Design & Development, which purchased eight lots, so expect more stunners to come online soon. The Ranch Mine was the architectural firm for this house. "The rapid sale of this home is a testament to its beauty, functionality and elevated architecture and design," Compass Agent Larissa Hoss said in a statement. "The buyer knew this home wouldn't last and took immediate action to lock it down." Pine Canyon first opened in 1994. It ranks tied for 13th in Arizona on the Golfweek's Best 2025: Top private golf courses in every state list, which was released in June. Check out some images of this house.

Golfweek's Best 2025: Top 100 public-access courses in the U.S., ranked

Each year we publish many course rankings lists, and this selection of public-access layouts is among the premium offerings. Golfweek's Best 2025: Top 200 Classic Courses in the U.S., ranked

Each year we publish many lists of course rankings, with this Top 200 Classic list among the premium offerings. The hundreds of members of our course-ratings panel continually evaluate courses, and their overall ratings on a 10-point basis are averaged to produce these rankings. The top handful of courses in the world have an average rating of above 9, while many excellent layouts fall into the high-6 to the 8 range. Why do we split our rankings between Modern and Classic, with 1960 as a break point? Because they are two very different eras. As written in our rater's handbook, the Classic style of architecture was basically natural with intimate routings that enabled holes to cling to native landforms. Designers were not afraid to utilize dramatic slopes or to sculpt bunkers into artistic shapes utilizing the given features of land. Earth scraping was minimal, as opposed to Modern courses that utilize heavy machinery. Greens were built from native soil that was pushed up and shaped, giving Classic designers enormous freedom to build oddly shaped putting surfaces with more contour than typically seen in the Modern era, when green speeds became much greater. The greater abundance of buildable land in those days also gave architects tremendous creative freedom. On to the rankings: To ensure these lists are up-to-date, Golfweek's Best in recent years has altered how individual ratings are compiled into the rankings. Only ratings from rounds played in the past 10 years are included in the compilations. This helps ensure that any course in the rankings still measures up. Courses also must have a minimum of 25 votes to qualify for the Top 200 Modern or the Top 200 Classic. Other Golfweek's Best lists, such as Best Courses You Can Play or Best Private, do not require as many votes. This makes it possible that a course can show up on other Golfweek's Best lists but not on the premium Top 200 Modern and Classic lists. * Indicates new to or returning to this list. 1. Golfweek's Best 2025: Top 200 Modern Courses in the U.S., ranked Looking to play the best courses built during the past seven decades in the United States? We've got you covered, with Golfweek's Best 2025 ranking of the top modern golf courses opened since 1960. Each year we publish many lists of course rankings, with this top 200 modern courses list among the premium offerings. The hundreds of members of our course-ratings panel continually evaluate courses, and their overall ratings on a 10-point basis are averaged to produce these rankings. The top handful of courses in the world have an average rating of above 9, while many excellent layouts fall into the high-6 to the 8 range. Why 1960 as the breaking point between Modern and Classic? The growth of golf in the modern era of design starts with its mass popularization, the appeal of the late Arnold Palmer and the result of bringing the game into the homes of television audiences. Courses were popping up everywhere. But it wasn't just the market that changed. As noted in our rater's handbook that guides these rankings, design and construction techniques for courses shifted fundamentally after 1960. Mechanized earth-moving became the norm, and the USGA developed sophisticated methods to build sand-based greens. Most courses required extensive planning, documentation and meticulous excavation. And while the advent of new, high-performance grasses meant better conditions, the quicker putting speeds meant greens could not be built with the same dramatic slope as with many classic courses built before 1960. The skills required to build a great course became those of professionally trained landscape architects, not just creative golf visionaries. The industry had changed dramatically. On to the rankings: To ensure these lists are up-to-date, Golfweek's Best in recent years has altered how individual ratings are compiled into the rankings. Only ratings from rounds played in the past 10 years are included in the compilations. This helps ensure that any course in the rankings still measures up. Courses also must have a minimum of 25 votes to qualify for the top 200 modern or the top 200 classic. Other Golfweek's Best lists, such as Best Courses You Can Play or best private courses in each state, do not require as many votes.
