Kaizer Chiefs: Fan-favourite linked with move to PSL rivals

This Kaizer Chiefs fan-favourite has attracted interest from PSL rivals. Kaizer Chiefs fan-favourite Happy Mashiane is once again linked with an exit. However, this time he has potential suitors in the BetWay Premiership lined up. Mashiane is one of NINE Chiefs players facing likely exits. So, he joins this R9-million star and Amakhosi fan favourite as one of the local favourites heading out of Naturena. As mentioned, Mashiane has been linked with a possible exit every transfer window spanning several seasons but he has always survived the cut. However, this time he is likely to be let go. Kaizer Chiefs vs Orlando Pirates: Preview & Prediction

The latest edition of the Soweto derby is around the corner for Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. Soweto will be split into black and white (Orlando Pirates) and gold and black (Kaizer Chiefs) as families across South Africa prepare for the eagerly anticipated latest chapter of this storied rivalry. The biggest game in South African football – The Soweto derby. History, tradition and bragging rights are all at stake when these two historical giants clash to conquer Soweto. Last time these two teams met, it ended in jubilation for Pirates and heartbreak for Amakhosi. Pirates were awarded a controversial injury time winner which resulted in a 1-0 victory for the Bucs. You can bet that not a single Amakhosi supporter or player has forgotten this moment. Since then, the two sides have had contrasting seasons. Pirates sit second in the latest BetWay Premiership standings. Meanwhile, Chiefs are in eightgh position. Meanwhile, Pirates reached the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League before losing 3-2 to Pyramids FC in the second leg. So, close yet so far. Fresh off of their CAFCL heartbreak, Pirates sail in search of redemption. The same redemption Chiefs are after following their Soweto derby heartbreak where many felt they were robbed by the Sea Robbers. This is just the beginning of the story. This will be Jose Riveiro's last Soweto derby in the PSL. Meanwhile, Nasreddine Nabi's career hangs on a thread. This thread could snap if they don't win either of the derbies but could be woven more tightly with victory. Beyond their coaches careers and reputations and recent heartbreak, there is Soweto derby bragging rights and three points to play for. Chiefs need to stay in the top eight. Meanwhile, Pirates will want to seal second spot to secure safe passage into the CAFCL next season. Finally, winning the derby grants respective fans bragging rights until the next one. There is no dount that Pirates are the clear favourites based on form alone. They have had an excellent season under Riveiro. Meanwhile, Chiefs are struggling under Nasreddine Nabi. However, form is thrown out the window when it comes to the Soweto derby. All the players rise and step up to the occasion. After all, all these players dreamt of playing in the Soweto derby. This is a dream shared by millions of young SA boys. PREDICTION: Both sides will be up for this one. I sense a 1-1 draw after an intense and grueling 90 minutes in Soweto.

Orlando Pirates players who would be BENCHED at Kaizer Chiefs

Imagine a joint Orlando Pirates-Kaizer Chiefs starting XI. Orlando Pirates have more players in the national team with Kaizer Chiefs having little to no features in the national team in recent years. The Bucs reached the CAF Champions Cup semi-finals and they are currently second in the latest BetWay Premiership standings. Meanwhile, Amakhosi have not tasted continental football since the 2021-22 final againsr Pitso Mosimane's Al Ahly. Furthermore, they languish in eighth position in the PSL. MUST READ: KAIZER CHIEFS PLAYERS WHO WOULD BE BENCHED AT ORLANDO PIRATES So, based on recent form it comes as no surprise that Pirates dominate the Pirates-Chiefs starting XI. However, there is a small group of Chiefs players who could challenge for starting positions amongst this in-form crop of Bucs stars. Pirates would no doubt have the first-choice goalkeeper, Sipho Chaine. Meanwhile, they will definitely dominate the front-three with Relebohile Mofokeng, Tshegofatso Mabaso and Mohau Nkota or an in-form Monnapule Saleng would be more threatening in front of goal. However, it is in defence and the midfield that Chiefs have one or two worthy contenders to start in this theoretical starting XI. Rushwin Dortley is a Bafana Bafana star with a big future. Moroever, in the midified, Yusuf Maart offers himself as a worthy selection. Finally, Njabulo Blom in his prime is good enough to start at right-back. Maart would be joined by Patrick Maswanganyi and Thalente Mbatha. Meanwhile Mdu Shabalala and Gaston Sirino would cause Jose Riveiro one or two selection headaches based on glimpses of brilliance and promise. Both sides will meet for silverware when they contest the Nedbank Cup final on 10 May 2025. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1.
