Is Nasreddine Nabi's future at Kaizer Chiefs under threat after rift with management?
On borrowed time? According to reports, Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi is on borrowed time at the club following a disagreement with the club's management. Photo: Kaizer Chiefs on Facebook Image: Kaizer Chiefs on Facebook A number of reports on Tuesday have cast in doubt Nasreddine Nabi's future with Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs. Over the weekend, Nabi missed the club's opening Betway Premiership game against Stellenbosch FC, a match they went on to win 2-0. Following an accident involving his wife, the club announced that Nabi would be returning to Tunisia. However, it has now been reported that following a meeting between the club and coach a few days ago, relations between the two parties have since soured. According to Soccer Laduma, Chiefs' management expressed dissatisfaction with the team's performance following the pre-season tour in the Netherlands and the defeat to Asante Kotoko in the Toyota Cup. Assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef stepped in to lead the team in Cape Town during Nabi's absence over the weekend. It was the second time that Youssef had been in charge of the team on match-day over the last year. Last season, Youssef was on the sidelines two matches when Nabi served a two-game suspension. On the back of two defeats, Chiefs rebounded under Youssef, winning both games he was in charge of. They beat Sekhukhune 1-0, and hammered minnows Free Agents 4-0 in the Nedbank Cup. Back-to-back victories, a rarity for the club last season, helped Youssef win over the fans. Sunday's 2-0 victory over Stellenbosch will have enhanced his reputation. Should Chiefs part ways with Nabi, they could have a ready replacement in Youssef. For now, Amakhosi's faithful will watch closely as events unfold, aware that the next few weeks could shape the club's trajectory for the rest of the season. Whether Nabi returns to steady the ship or Youssef is handed the reins, the decision will not only determine who leads the team from the dugout, but could also set the tone for Chiefs' long-term ambitions – and their chances of finally ending a decade-long league title drought. Stellenbosch need to show their 'bouncebackability' against Magesi FC
Stellenbosch coach Steve Barker is hoping Bradley Mojela can rediscover his scoring touch after returning to fitness. Picture: BackpagePix Stellenbosch FC coach Steve Barker is hoping his team can show their 'bouncebackability' in their Betway Premiership clash against Magesi FC tonight (kickoff 7:30pm). Stellies have been handed a testing opening month of league fixtures in addition to their MTN8 Cup responsibilities. They have managed to secure passage to the MTN8 semifinals where they will meet Sekhukhune United in this weekend's first leg, but are still searching for their first Premiership points after the 2-0 home defeat to Kaizer Chiefs last Sunday. Magesi are on the board already with John Maduka's side playing out a goalless draw with Polokwane FC in their season opener. Stellies may also have weary legs after being taken into extra-time by AmaZulu in their MTN8 quarterfinal and then being forced to play with 10 men for 65 minutes of the Chiefs tie after debutant central defender Siviwe Nkwali was red-carded at Athlone Stadium. But Barker is confident his team will lift themselves for the clash at the Seshego Stadium in Limpopo. 'It's a big midweek game, away to Magesi,' the Stellies tactician said. 'But we need to stand up and refresh ourselves and be resilient and show bouncebackability for a big three points on offer on Wednesday.' Stellies were unable to breach the net against Chiefs, but this was primarily due to the misfortune of hitting the post and crossbar, while the Amakhosi keeper Brandon Peterson also produced a few telling saves. It is for this reason Barker is not overly worried and feels that the goals will return against Magesi, especially with ace striker Bradley Mojela returning to fitness after miss most of last season with a long-term injury. 'I wouldn't say we're short of goals, to be honest,' he said. 'When you don't score in a game, a league match, you always want to go back and say, where could we have maybe done better to get a goal? 'Because, obviously, at the end of the day, goals wins matches. 'I feel we've got enough goals in us around the team. Bradley Mojela is coming on nicely. Got some game time last week. (5:38) Ashley's (Cupido) obviously got goals. 'So has our new signing, Muzomuhle Khanyi. So, I'm not too worried about that. 'If the trend continued in three, four, five games, we weren't scoring, then obviously I would be looking for some solutions.' Barker is hoping to have new recruit Henry Stanic available for the Limpopo trip after the Belgian central defender was finally granted a work permit last week.

Orlando Pirates transfer news: Lorch, Maema, Shalulile, Saleng
Orlando Pirates have signed 12 new players for this season but it appears the Soweto giants are far from done. New coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has indicated that he is willing to trim the squad down but will he have space for new players? From the look of things, the Moroccan coach could very well loan out a few more players in order to manage the squad. Players such as Thabiso Lebitso and Olisah Ndah might move elsewhere to get gametime. Which players can Orlando Pirates still sign? Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Neo Maema has been impressive with Bafana Bafana in CHAN and is definitely caught the eyes of many teams. He might be an option for Pirates, given that the club signed Sipho Mbule. Another Downs player that the Buccaneers could pounce on is Peter Shalulile. The 31-year-old has been linked with a move away from Chloorkop having been starved of gametime. This past weekend however, the Namibian international was in the matchday squad for Sundowns' league opener against Chippa United. Another player Orlando Pirates can sign is Thembinkosi Lorch. 'Nyoso' spent nearly 10 years with the Buccaneers before joining Downs early in 2024. The Move flopped and Lorch was then loaned out to Wydad Casablaca where he impressed. He could be an option for Ouaddou if Relebohile Mofokeng decides to leave. Monnapule Saleng has joined Orbit College on loan this season from Pirates. His coach Pogiso Makhoye is confident that the winger will regain his form which saw him become one of Orlando Pirates star players. 'With Saleng, we're just giving him the love and making sure that he fully enjoys the game again,' Makhoye told FARPost . 'So we are making sure that he's surrounded by happiness, and I think the boy is enjoying the game. I can say he's feeling loved again, and everyone is just making things easy for him to accommodate him. I can say, come the start of the season, you are going to see the difference, Saleng, because he's happy.' If Saleng finds form, he could be recalled by Orlando Pirates in January.
