MSU Athletics Year-in-Review
SPRINGFIELD–The Bears offense lit up the scoreboard during its school record 8-game winning streak, this past season, but does that put it above the rest of the MSU athletic programs?! What's up Bear Nation?! It's hard to believe, but another year of MO-State sports is officially in the books. So, with that, I thought we'd enjoy an 'MSU Review' of the best moments from the 2024-25 sports year. Up first, it's gotta be the Missouri State soccer programs. Both men's and womens' team not only made the NCAA Tournament, but the men's team defeated Drake, 1-0, to claim the Missouri Valley regular season conference crown. Then, the women's team followed suit but upped the anti but winning the MVC Tournament title, too. Then, we got he Lady Bears basketball team. Beth Cunningham finally captured her first MVC regular season title, and, of course, Lacy Stokes cemented her legacy, as one of the all-time Lady Bears greats. But, so did Paige Rocca, especially after hitting this buzzer beater three pointer to force overtime in MO-State's comeback win against Drake. And, last but not least, how about Joey Hawkins and the Bears baseball team. In Hawkins first year as head coach, the Bears won at least a share of the MVC regular season crown for the first time since 2018, had seven players make the All-Conference team, including player of the year, Nick Rodrigueaz, and knocked off No. 2 Arkansas, Fayeteville. But the best of the bunch goes to the Soccer programs. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.

Ozarks Digitial Desk: Recapping Lady Bears 1st Round WBIT Victory
SPRINGFIELD–The Missouri State Lady Bears emphatically earned their first postseason victory, under Beth Cunningham, in a record-setting performance against Oral Roberts in the first round of the WBIT. MSU scored a program record 107 points in the team's 31-point victory against the Golden Eagles. It broke the previous mark of 104 points set back in 2001, by the Jackie Styles led SMS Final Four team, who beat Washington 104-87 in the Elite 8. With Thursday night's win, the Lady Bears will get to host their round two contest against Minnesota. There were just over 2,000 fans in attendance at Great Southern Bank Arena for Thursday night, but with Spring Break coming to an end on Sunday, their might be a higher turnout. Head Coach Beth Cunningham is hoping so. She said after the game that her team is 'worth the price of admission,' and anyone who's watched this squad for most of the season can certainly echo that sentiment. Take a listen to Chris Pinson and Dan recap the victory and listen to Coach Cunningham and Lacy Stokes with their postgame comments in the latest breakdown. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Cunningham wants her Lady Bears to have fun in the WBIT
SPRINGFIELD, Mo–Lady Bears coach Beth Cunningham says she wants her team to play loose Thursday night. In our Bear Nation update. Cunningham says she wants her troops to let it all hang out. The Lady Bears will host Oral Roberts in the WBIT Tournament Thursday at Great Southern Bank Arena. It's an opportunity for the senior laden Lady Bears to play another game at home. Cunningham says the last home game on senior night was pressure packed because of trying to lock down a share of the Valley regular season championship. She wants her team to have fun against the Golden Eagles. 'We're excited to play at home again. But I think it'll be back to that loose, free feeling. Hopefully we can let it all hang out. And not feel the pressure we felt in that last home game here,' said Cunningham. Again that game is Thursday at 6:30 at Great Southern Bank Arena. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Ozarks Digital Desk: WBIT Preview & NCAA 1st Round Schedule
SPRINGFIELD–Thursday morning, the best sports tournament in America will get underway–March Madness–A full slate of NCAA men's basketball games will begin at 11:15 a.m. CST, and for roughly the next 12 hours, 32 teams will compete in a win-or-go-home scenario that has made this annual competition must watch content. With the tournament airing on CBS, TNT, TBS, and TruTV, fans will have a variety of options to watch it traditionally or stream it. Since some games will be played on CBS, KOLR10's normal schedule of news at 5 & 6 p.m. will adjust slightly. The newscast at 5 p.m. will be an hour long, instead of just a 30 minute program. That way, the audience can get a full rundown of the news-of-the-day in the Ozarks, before the next basketball game tips off at 6:10 p.m. Coinicidentally, the Missouri State Lady Bears basketball team will play its first round contest of the WBIT that same day. However, unlike last year, when MSU had to travel to its first round opponent's court, the Lady Bears will host that game. Their opponent is Oral Roberts out of Tulsa, Oklahoma. This is the second year in-a-row Mo State will compete in the WBIT and is hoping to beat the Golden Eagles to advance beyond the opening round for the first time. Take a listen to Chris Pinson to hear the full breakdown of the March Madness schedule Thursday and the matchup between Oral Roberts and Missouri State. Head Coach Beth Cunningham provides insights to the opportunity, plus, how impactful the crowd at Great Southern Bank can be for the Lady Bears. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Lady Bears host Oral Roberts in first round of WBIT
SPRINGFIELD–Even though the Missouri State women's basketball team didn't win the conference crown to automically qualify for the Women's NCAA Tournament, it doesn't mean the Lady Bears aren't going dancing. For the third consecutive season, Beth Cunningham's squad has earned an invitation to compete in the WBIT. Except, this March, MSU will get to host its first round contest. Unlike the past two years, where Mo State had to go play on the road against Nebraska in 2023 and Illinois last winter, the Lady Bears will play at Great Southern Bank Arena. The home court advantage could certainly aid their cause in getting out of the first round — something the team hasn't done the previous two years. As for Missouri State's opponent, that will be Oral Roberts. The contest will be played Thursday, March 20, but the game time has yet to be determined. Tipoff time will be revealed no later than noon on Monday, March 17. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
