If there's one show that's provided Halloween costume inspiration since its premiere episode, it would have to be Yellowstone. Yellowstone fans overjoyed as major character announces return

The original Yellowstone series concluded after its fifth season last year, but the Duttons will live on in an upcoming spin-off. The as-yet-untitled series, which is centered around the characters Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, will also star Carter in a prominent role, according to Deadline. Played by Australian actor Finn Little, 19, Carter previously appeared on seasons four and five of the original Yellowstone. The character is a troubled teenager and orphan who is taken in by Beth Dutton and becomes a ranch hand at Yellowstone. Fans of the western are already overjoyed by the news of Carter's inclusion, with one commenting, 'Awesome!!! I would be disappointed if he wasn't in the spin off. He's a amazing actor and he worked good with Beth and Rip's characters.' 'I for one am happy Carter will be a part of this spinoff. Carter was the best thing to happen to Beth and Rip,' wrote another. A third commented, 'This is great news. Looking forward to the Beth and Rip spin off!' The Beth and Rip series isn't the only Yellowstone spin-off on the way. Yellowstone star Luke Grimes landed his very own spinoff, which is currently in production. Back in May it was announced that the actor, who played Kayce Dutton on the saga, will be the focus of Y: Marshals. On the show, Kayce will join the US Marshals in Montana. The last time viewers saw Kayce, he had moved to a small part of the Yellowstone ranch. It remains unknown whether the show will feature his wife Monica and their son Tate, played respectively on the original series by Kelsey Asbille and Brecken Merrill. The official logline has Kayce 'combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana, where he and his teammates must balance family, duty and the high psychological cost that comes with serving as the last line of defense in the region's war on violence.' It comes after Grimes slammed Yellowstone star Kevin Costner when he said it was easier filming the end of season five without the Hollywood icon. The actor, 41, played the son of Costner's rancher patriarch John Dutton. Costner sensationally left the show before its final half-season, amid explosive reports that he clashed with its creator Taylor Sheridan. In the wake of his departure, Grimes said the last episodes were 'the easiest' to film because 'some of the conflict was gone,' kicking up a flurry of rumors that he had also feuded with Costner, though he denied 'any hard feelings.' Grimes is currently starring in Eddington, a film by Midsommar and Hereditary director Ari Aster.

Let's make one thing clear right away: there is currently no such thing as Yellowstone season 6, nor will there be a season 6 release date here. The blockbuster series concluded in December 2024 with the 14th episode of its fifth and final season. However, the story of the Dutton family and its surviving members will live on. Through various spinoffs, at least one of which remains untitled, fans will get an upcoming prequel series and additional franchise entries, complete with brand-new characters and high-profile cast members. Here's everything we know so far. Kevin Costner in 'Yellowstone' season 5 (2022) | Image: Paramount Network Is There a Yellowstone Season 6? The modern Western series Yellowstone garnered a massive following over its five-season run. Behind the scenes, however, creator Taylor Sheridan and star Kevin Costner waged a battle more epic than one of the show's fictional storylines. As a direct result (SPOILER ALERT), rancher John Dutton (played by Costner) was killed off in Season 5, making it the final season. Hence, there is no Yellowstone season 6, and there probably never will be. But one shouldn't take that to mean the adventures of Beth Dutton and the other main characters won't continue. Rather than develop an official Yellowstone season 6, Sheridan has instead created a variety of spin-offs. Some will follow the Duttons while others will introduce new characters and storylines. 'Yellowstone' Season 5 Part 2 | Image: Stan Australia Yellowstone New Season Potential Casting & Plot While there's no indication that Yellowstone will continue as a mothership series, its assorted spinoffs may collectively or respectively constitute a new season. So the question is: where did the story leave off? And for anyone who hasn't yet watched season 5, there are more SPOILERS AHEAD. Well, John Dutton is dead and buried, for one, and his ranch has been sold off to the Broken Rock tribe by his son, Kayce (Luke Grimes). John's daughter, Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly), killed her adopted brother, Jamie (Wes Bentley), and then moved to a small ranch in the town of Dillon. There, she plans to start a new life with her husband, Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), and with the young boy she's taken under her wing, Carter (Finn Little). Regarding the upcoming spinoffs, we have an idea of where the story goes from here for Kayce Dutton, who was given back a piece of the ranch by the Broken Rock tribe. In the new series Y: Marshals, Kayce joins an elite unit of the U.S. Marshals and takes on dangerous domestic crimes. The future of Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler remains less clear. Cole Hauser in 'Yellowstone' season 5 (2022) | Image: Paramount Network What's Next for Yellowstone? Here's where things get downright muddy, so bear with us. In the fall of 2023, it was announced that the Yellowstone franchise was developing a sequel series under the working title 2024, with Matthew McConaughey attached. It was then reported that McConaughey dropped out, and that Kurt Russell was cast in either the same role or in a different role for the same series. Additional rumours suggested that existing characters such as Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler would make guest appearances. In the time since, Kurt Russell has likewise left the Yellowstone universe (for now), and the series in which he was attached to star has become The Madison. Starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Patrick J. Adams, it will follow a New York City family to central Montana. Meanwhile, characters Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler are slated to appear in their own untitled spin-off, which will arguably be the closest one can get to Yellowstone season 6. There's no release date as of yet, and it's not even clear whether the series has started filming. In addition to The Madison, Y: Marshals, and the untitled Yellowstone spinoff, we're getting 1944, a prequel series that follows in the vein of 1883 and 1923 by exploring the Dutton family history. There's also 6666, a long-awaited spinoff set on Taylor Sheridan's enormous Texas ranch. And to think you just came here looking for the Yellowstone season 6 release date! Cole Hauser in 'Yellowstone' season 5 (2022) | Image: Paramount Network Here's a brief rundown of all the upcoming franchise instalments. The Madison (Release Date: 2026) This is the series that was supposed to star Kurt Russell, who's since left the project. Michelle Pfeiffer plays Stacy Clyburn, a wealthy New Yorker whose husband and brother-in-law are killed in a plane crash. Looking for a fresh start, she and her family move to the heart of Montana. Y: Marshals (Release Date: 2026) This upcoming series will continue the adventures of Yellowstone character Kayce Dutton. A former NAVY SEAL and modern cowboy, Dutton joins an elite unit of the U.S. Marshals. While protecting the region against violent threats, he struggles to balance his personal and professional life. It will air on CBS as part of the network's midseason lineup. 6666 Taylor Sheridan spent a fortune on the real-life Four Sixes Ranch in Texas, and what better way to recoup some of the cost than this long-gestating drama series? The sprawling property previously appeared in Yellowstone but now takes centre stage for an exploration of man vs nature. There's a chance that characters Jimmy (Jefferson White) and Emily (Kathryn Kelly) – who met on the ranch in Yellowstone season 4 – will appear, but nothing has been confirmed. Details are scarce, and so are release dates. 1944 Fans adore the Yellowstone prequels 1883 and 1923, which respectively chronicle the history of the Dutton family and their Montana ranch. The historical action will continue with this brand-new prequel series set in 1944. There's no information about the cast or plot available just yet, but many suspect that the series will incorporate WWII and maybe even follow characters into battle. Untitled Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler Spinoff Series Just before Yellowstone concluded, it was announced that characters Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler would get their own spinoff series. Previous reports called it Dutton Ranch, but that name has since been disputed, and the series remains untitled. What we do know is that it will take place in the present day and centre around the married couple. If you're looking for Yellowstone season 6, this is presumably as close as you can get. That said, we don't have specific plot details to share at this time. The Yellowstone Phenomenon Yellowstone debuted in 2018 and steadily gained viewership over five seasons. Between the mothership series and its assorted prequels, the franchise has become nothing short of a cultural phenomenon. We primarily have compelling characters, lavish production values, historically rich settings, and gripping storylines to thank, though the series also offers an escape from the standard progressive fare (that said, dubbing the show 'political' tends to oversimplify its intentions). Behind the scenes, creator Taylor Sheridan has reportedly butted heads with former star Kevin Costner and Paramount Network alike, but that hasn't stopped millions of viewers from tuning in to Yellowstone and its assorted spinoffs. Other Sheridan creations such as Landman and Tulsa King have likewise garnered high ratings and loyal followings. Where Can I Watch Yellowstone? Yellowstone is produced by Paramount Network, but due to a licensing deal with NBCUniversal Peacock, the series isn't available to stream on Paramount+. Instead, episodes are available for streaming to subscribers on Peacock and Philo in the US, and premium subscribers on Hulu and fuboTV. One can also rent episodes or entire seasons on platforms like Prime Video and YouTube. To make matters slightly more confusing (a recurring theme, as you'll notice), Paramount+ does have the streaming rights to the prequels 1883 and 1923. Paramount Global also owns CBS, which will air Y: Marshals, meaning the spinoff series will likely stream on Paramount+. So too will the upcoming prequel series 1944, as it's being produced directly by Paramount+. Here in Australia, though, you can watch all five seasons of Yellowstone on Stan, both spin-offs 1883 and 1923 on Amazon Prime via a Paramount+ subscription. 1883 | Image: CBS How to Watch the Yellowstone Franchise in Order The Yellowstone universe is expanding across space and time alike, with 6666 heading to Texas while 1944 journeys back to WWII. As you gear up for all these reported sequels and prequels, why not take the ultimate history course in the meantime? Kevin Costner Thinks All The Yellowstone Characters 'Should Be In Prison.' Honestly, I Think He's Right

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Kevin Costner may have left Yellowstone on not the best of terms, but for the most part, he speaks about the show quite highly. For example, he recently complimented how the series captured 'modern-day ranching.' However, he also tells it like it is. So, let's be real. This show is dramatic and soap operatic, and yes, as the John Dutton actor said, all the characters 'should be in prison.' While Costner left Yellowstone, he didn't leave the Western genre. So, during a chat with ET, he opened up about working in this landscape and on the Taylor Sheridan drama specifically. Speaking about how it represented 'modern-day ranching' as well as its more over-the-top plot points, the actor said: Well, it's modern-day ranching. Yellowstone was able to capture that really so beautifully. I mean, it's a bit of a soap opera; we all should be in prison. Read More About What's Next For Yellowstone The Release Windows For Yellowstone's Spinoffs About Kayce, Rip And Beth Have Been Revealed, And Now I Have Two Important Questions If you watch really any episode of Yellowstone with a Peacock subscription, I think you'll find this point to be true. There are so many brutal moments in Yellowstone that single-handedly prove Costner's point. And that's not even because some of the main characters (cough, cough, Beth) DO end up in prison at one point or another. Think about it. The Duttons have the Train Station, which is literally a place they go to dump the bodies of people they've killed. All the main characters, Kayce, Beth, Jamie and Rip, have also all killed people. Beth murdered her brother in the series finale. While he may have had that one coming, it was also illegal. Rip has caused the deaths of many folks who wound up at the Train Station. Jamie killed his biological father and that journalist. Kayce is a great shot and has lethally used that skill. These are just crimes having to do with death, too. We haven't even addressed various assaults and fights that should have ended with jail time. Plus, there's also potential white-collar crime to consider. Also, can we talk about the Y brand for a second? A lot of the time, the characters don't get a choice in getting it, and it's quite a violent action. I think that would be considered a crime as well. However, since it swears people to secrecy, it hasn't led to legal action (as far as we know). Peacock TV: from $7.99 a month/$79.99 a yearTo watch Yellowstone, you'll need Peacock. If you have it, you'll also get access to NBC and Bravo shows as well, alongside brilliant originals, like Poker Face. Thankfully, plans are pretty affordable and start at $7.99 per month. View Deal Again, this isn't a knock on the show. I love how dramatic it is, and it was incredible to see the lengths this family was willing to go to to protect their ranch. However, what Costner and I are saying here is simply a fact. Yellowstone is like a big soap opera, and in the real world, these people should 100% be in prison for what they've done. In fact, if you look back at the Dutton family tree and the shows about this family's history (which you can stream with a Paramount+ subscription), they are all criminals for at least one reason or another. Their enemies have also committed what feels like an infinite number of crimes. So, yeah, they should all be in jail.
