Cops are appealing for footage after the pedestrian was killed while crossing the road in Crawshawbooth, a village in the Lancashire Pennines, on Friday. 1 The crash happened near a village at the edge of the Pennines uplands Credit: Getty Police raced to the scene at 10.06pm following reports a Toyota Hilux Invincible had collided with a pedestrian while he was crossing the carriageway in a suspected drug-driving crash. It was reported that a Volkswagen Golf was in close proximity to the Toyota at the time. Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, the man sadly died. Lancashire Police said: "His family are being supported by specially trained officers and our thoughts are with them at this time." Five people were arrested and remain in custody. An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Two 19-year-olds, a 14-year-old boy, and an 18-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving while impaired through drink or drugs. Sgt Bex Price, from the Road Policing Unit, said: 'This collision has resulted in a man losing his life and first and foremost my thoughts remain with his loved one at this devastating time. 'Work is now ongoing to establish the full circumstances which led to the collision and as such I want to appeal for anyone in the area with CCTV or doorbell footage which captured anything which could assist the investigation team to come forward. "Similarly, if you were in or around the area of Burnley Road at the time and have mobile phone or dashcam footage which could help us, then I would urge you to get in contact as soon as possible.'

Teenage boy, 14, among five people arrested after pedestrian killed crossing road in Crawshawbooth
Five people including a 14-year-old boy have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a man was struck by a pick-up truck while crossing the road. Officers were called to Burnley Road, in Crawshawbooth, Lancashire, close to its junction with York Street, following reports a Toyota Hilux Invincible had hit a pedestrian. Lancashire Police say it was a Volkswagen Golf "was in close proximity to the Toyota at the time" of the incident which happened just after 10pm on Friday, 8 August. A man in his 50s - who was crossing the road at the time he was struck - died at the scene. His family are being supported by specialist officers. Five people have been arrested in connection with the incident and remain in custody at this time, police said. An 18-year-old man, from Rawtenstall, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Two 19-year-old men, from Waterfoot, a 14-year-old boy, also from Waterfoot, and an 18-year-old man from Bacup have all been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving while impaired through drink or drugs. Police have appealed for witnesses and ask anyone with CCTV or dash-cam footage to get in touch with the force. Driver killed after two car crash
A man in his 70s has died after a crash on a rural road. Lancashire Police said the man was in a blue Vauxhall Corsa which was involved in a crash with a black Corsa at about 18:40 BST on Friday in east Lancashire. The crash took place on the A56 between Foulridge and Colne, near to the St Michael and All Angels church. A police spokesman said: "Very sadly, despite the best efforts of the emergency services, the driver of the blue Vauxhall Corsa, a man in his 70s was pronounced dead at the scene. Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this very sad time." The driver of the black Corsa who stopped at the scene was unhurt. Sgt Bex Price, of our Lancashire roads policing unit said: "Enquiries into the collision are ongoing, and we are asking for your help." She added officers have appealed for dashcam and CCTV footage prior to the collision on Skipton Road, between 18:25 and 18:40 BST.
