Credit card fraud mastermind held

Bhopal: The Cyber-crime Branch Bhopal on Monday claimed to have arrested a Rs 10,000 reward-carrying cyber-fraud mastermind, who was absconding for four years. The accused, Syed Parvez Hashmi , was arrested from Uttam Nagar, Delhi, in connection with a major scam where victims were duped under the pretext of credit card blocking. The Cyber-crime team launched a targeted investigation. Items seized during the arrest include three mobile phones, four SIM cards, one ATM card, and one Wi-Fi router. The accused, Syed Parvez Hashmi, is educated up to class 12. He ran a fake call centre and duped people on the pretext of helping them block their credit cards. Previously arrested accused in the case include Zakir Hussain and Anuj Kumar, both residents of Amroha in UP. They provided their bank accounts used in the scam to the prime accused. TNN Police have advised people to immediately report cases on the Bhopal Cyber-crime Helpdesk at 9479990636 or the National Cyber Helpline Number 1930.
