Essex Fire station manager Ben Stapleton said: 'This fire was caused by a bonfire burning out of control and we'd urge anyone planning to have a bonfire as the weather gets hotter to hold off until we've had some more rain. "While we have had some rain, the ground is still very dry and bonfires can quickly spread out of control.' Crews worked to surround the fire and prevent it spreading to houses, extinguishing it by 1.50pm.
