Tesco hikes price of meal deal as expert warns 'shoppers will go elsewhere'
The supermarket has increased the cost of its The Pizza Company offer - which includes a pizza, side and dip - from £6 to £7 Tesco has upped the price of one of its pizza meal deals by £1. The supermarket has increased the cost of its The Pizza Company offer - which includes a pizza, side and dip - from £6 to £7. You need a Tesco Clubcard to get this deal. Some of the pizza flavours included in the offer are Pepperoni Party and the Big Cheese, while sides include Chicken Pops and Cajun Onion Rings. Tom Church, co-founder of said: 'As prices creep up, people are laser-focused on value. That extra £1 might seem small, but in the middle of a cost of living squeeze it's enough to push shoppers to look elsewhere — unless you're adding something truly special to the deal.' It comes after Tesco hiked the price of its Tesco Finest Dine In for Two deal from £12 to £15 - an increase of £3. The offer includes one main course, one side, and a dessert, plus an alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage. Tesco says the move came after it improved its ingredients. It also noted that the meal deal offering still saved customers up to £22.50 compared to buying the dishes separately. Tesco expanded the items available in the Dine In deal for spring. Nine new dishes were added, giving customers the choice of over 25 items for their evening meal. A Tesco spokesperson told Sky News: "We have worked to improve the quality across our Finest Dine In range, investing in the ingredients and recipes, and introducing an updated menu. They added: "Finest Dine In offers great value and is a delicious, convenient alternative to dining out at a fraction of the price." Meanwhile, the supermarket was recently forced to apologise after some shoppers were mistakenly told they were being awarded £100 in Clubcard points. Tesco recently ran a promotion where customers could get £100 of Clubcard points when they booked an easyJet holiday. However, some shoppers were accidentally sent an email saying they were being given the £100 in Clubcard points - despite not taking part in the offer. The second email read: 'We sent you an email about our Reward Partners on Sunday 11 May (great!). Unfortunately, we mistakenly said we'd added £100 of Clubcard points to your account for booking an easyJet holiday (not so great!). 'We're very sorry for any confusion we caused, and we hope you have a lovely summer, whatever your holiday plans.' A spokesperson from Tesco said: 'An email meant for customers who had collected £100 of Clubcard points after booking an easyJet Holidays break using Tesco Clubcard Vouchers was mistakenly sent to other Clubcard members. "We are sorry about the confusion and have followed up with an email to the customers who wrongly received the message to apologise.'

Turnstile Announce New Album ‘Never Enough,' Alongside New Single
Turnstile band members left to right: Daniel Fang (Drums), Franz Lyons (Bass), Brendan Yates (Voice ... More / Synth / Keys ), Meg Mills (Guitar), and Pat McCrory (Guitar). After a long four years the critically acclaimed hardcore punk band Turnstile, has returned with the follow up to their sensational grammy nominated 2021 LP, Glow On. Never Enough is the newly announced fourth studio album from the Baltimore outfit, and it's set to release on June 6th. According to a press release, the album was recorded between Los Angeles and the band members' homes in Baltimore, and the album was produced by Turnstile vocalist Brendan Yates. Alongside the album announcement, Turnstile has released the title track and very single for the upcoming LP. Stylistically the new single sounds very similar to what Turnstile did on Glow On, though with notably more melancholic synthesizers and melodic vocals. The soaring guitar solo midway through the track is also nice touch to what's overall a very familiar, yet satisfying first single from the band. Additionally, the cinematography from the new video is incredible and it's very reminiscent to the art-house aesthetics the band showcased on Glow On – Turnstile's Brendan Yates has not only produced the upcoming album but he directed the band's latest video alongside guitarist Pat McCrory. By the end of the video for 'Never Enough," it looks as if Turnstile are teasing another video for what'll likely be the second single for this upcoming album. If the band is keeping with the themes from Glow On, then it's likely they could have another short-film in the works for their upcoming LP, similar to what they did with "TURNSTILE LOVE CONNECTION." As far as modern rock goes, Turnstile are at the top of everyone's most anticipated LPs for this year, given how widely successful the band's 2021 album was. It'll be interesting to see how the band can build up from what they did on Glow On, while still delivering something unique. 'Never Enough' seems to fit that criteria quite well, but hopefully the band still has some songs that deliver their signature breakdowns and hooky guitar riffs. Speaking of guitar, the band has also recruited a new member, guitarist Meg Mills (Big Cheese, Chubby & The Gang). Mills permanently joined the band near the end of the tour cycle for Glow On, replacing co-founder Brady Ebert who left the band in August of 2022. Apart from a few festival appearances slated for this summer, Turnstile has yet to announce a 2025 tour for their upcoming album. Below are all the festival dates the band is set to perform later this year: JUN 07 - Barcelona, Spain - Primavera Sound 2025 JUN 13 - London, United Kingdom - Outbreak Fest London 2025 JUN 14 - Porto, Portugal - Primavera Sound Porto 2025 JUN 21 - Clisson, France - Hellfest 2025 JUN 28 - Ysselsteyn, Netherlands - Jera On Air 2025 JUN 29 - Somerset, United Kingdom - Glastonbury Festival 2025 JUL 12 - Ottawa, Canada - Ottawa Blues Festival 2025 OCT 03 - Sacramento, CA - Aftershock 2025

Drunk primary school teacher didn't know which child she was giving class award to
A teacher who turned up to work at her primary school drunk and smelling of alcohol 'looked dazed and was staggering around', according to fellow staff members. Ashley Atkin, 38, had glazed eyes and was unsteady on her feet as she prepared for an awards ceremony at Horn's Mill Primary in Helsby, Cheshire. The incident occurred on the morning October 20, 2023, when Atkin was due to hand out a 'Big Cheese' award to a high-achieving pupil in her Year 1 class. A professional conduct panel of the agency has now ruled she will not be allowed to return to the classroom, as it banned her from teaching in any school, sixth form college, relevant youth accommodation or children's home in England, but imposed a review period. In evidence presented to the TRA, the staff member said she could smell alcohol on Atkin's breath and she appeared to be 'trying to hide that she was drunk'. Concerns were raised about Atkin during the morning assembly and another staff member, known as witness B, approached her in the staff room. Atkin denied she had been drinking, but admitted she had been drinking heavily the night before. In a later disciplinary investigation interview on November 17, 2023, she stated that she drank a bottle of white wine and another small glass of wine on the night of October 19. Witness B reported the situation to another staff member, Witness A, who invited both Witness B and Atkin into her office to discuss the situation. Both Witnesses A and B said they could smell alcohol on Atkin. Join the Manchester Evening News WhatsApp group HERE Witness A stated there was 'not a shadow of doubt that it was alcohol, while Witness B described the stench as 'pungent', 'strong' and 'distinctive to drinking'. Witness A stated that once the meeting was over, the room had to be aired out to get rid of the powerful smell, reports The Echo. Atkin denied being present at the school after consuming alcohol, but a TRA report, published in February 2025, found this was untrue. It further found the Y1 teacher's drinking had affected her behaviour and ability to carry out her work duties, as she had failed to prepare a "morning challenge" or plan the day for her class. She also failed to welcome children into the classroom and carry out the snack register. Witness C stated in written evidence that 'when [Ms Atkin] stood to take to children in [to the assembly] she seemed to have trouble with her dress round her feet and was unsteady. She moved slowly and gingerly.' After leading the children into the assembly, Atkin then walked off, leaving another staff member to sit the class down. The staff member said Atkin "looked dazed and was staggering". She was supposed to announce who the "Big Cheese" of her class was and hand out an award, but she did not know who the award winner was. After asking another teacher who the "Big Cheese" was, she handed her the certificate and said "you do it". Witnesses B and D described Atkin's eyes as being "glazed", and Witness B also stated that Atkin was slow to answer questions and was unstable on her feet. Concerns were raised that Atkin was not able to look after the children in her class, as one staff member said: "I felt [children in Ms Atkin's class] weren't safe with her. I felt reluctant to leave the children with her…' due to '…her slow reaction and slow communication with us as staff and a lack of awareness, that meant that the children potentially were not safe.' Following Atkin's meeting with Witnesses A and B, it was determined that Atkin should be driven home as she was not in a position to continue working in the school. A disciplinary investigation and launched, and Atkin resigned on 8 December 2023. The TRA professional conduct panel has now ruled that she will not allowed to return to the classroom, as it banned her from teaching in any school, sixth form college, relevant youth accommodation or children's home in England. It found her guilty of unacceptable professional conduct and bringing the profession into disrepute. The report read: "The panel was satisfied that the conduct of Ms Atkin fell significantly short of the standard of behaviour expected of a teacher in that she presented at work after consuming alcohol and smelling of alcohol and for safeguarding reasons could not be left in charge of her class for the day." It added: "The panel were satisfied that Ms Atkin's actions were deliberate. There was no evidence to suggest that Ms Atkin was acting under extreme duress... Ms Atkin was a teacher for 4 years, but there was no evidence of an exceptional contribution to teaching." Atkin had also denied being convicted of drink driving at Cheshire Magistrates Court in July 2023. However, court records obtained by the TRA proved this too was a lie, and the panel also found her guilty of receiving a conviction of a relevant offence. It concluded: "The lack of insight and genuine remorse shown by Ms Atkin meant that the panel could not be satisfied that there would not be repeated behaviours associated with alcohol in a school environment. "The panel decided that the findings indicated a situation in which a review period would be appropriate and, as such, decided that it would be proportionate, in all the circumstances, for the prohibition order to be recommended with provisions for a review period. As such, the panel decided that it would be proportionate for the prohibition order to be recommended, with provision for a review period after two years."
