Shipley: Join Age UK Bradford District's Big Knit Knit-athon

Age UK Bradford District is inviting crafters and knitters to join the Big Knit Knit-athon. The event will take place on Wednesday, June 11, from 9.30am to 4pm at the Wrose Hub at 75 Wrose Road, in Shipley. The all-day event is part of the national Big Knit campaign, where each woolly hat made helps raise 30p for Age UK Bradford District. The charity has set a target of 10,000 hats. Mark Rounding, CEO of Age UK Bradford District, said: "The Knit-athon aims to be a unique and fun community event, bringing people of all ages and backgrounds together for a great cause. "Every hat made helps support our work with older people in the Bradford District - reducing loneliness, improving wellbeing, and creating vital community connections through Information, Help & Support, Advice & Casework, Activities, and Groups. "Whether you're a seasoned knitter or a total beginner, everyone is welcome to take part. "We'll have supplies, patterns, tea, and plenty of encouragement on hand. "Pop in for an hour or stay for the whole day - every hat counts!" Attendees may wish to bring knitting needles. Patterns (including for those unable to attend but wishing to still contribute), and more information, are available at
