Sky Sports now 66p a day with 2025/26 Premier League season just days away
The 2025/26 Premier League season is just days away and football fans can get Sky Sports for 66p per day. The new campaign is set to kick off on Friday, August 15, with title holders Liverpool taking on Bournemouth at Anfield. Among the other must-see matches in the opening weekend are Wolves vs Man City, Chelsea vs Crystal Palace and Man United vs Arsenal. Each of these games will be shown exclusively on Sky Sports as the broadcaster increases its Premier League coverage from 128 matches to at least 215 starting this season. Sky claims this covers 80% of all televised Premier League matches. To catch all these fixtures – plus more than 1,000 live games across the EFL, SPFL, WSL and Bundesliga – footie fans need to secure a Sky Sports subscription, which is priced at £20 per month in an introductory offer. This works out at roughly 66p per day over a 30-day period and grants access to nine Sky Sports channels including Main Event, Premier League, Football, F1, Golf and Tennis. It also includes the newly launched Sky Sports+ channel at no additional cost, which provides live streams of more than 1,000 live EFL games, every Carabao Cup fixture and every match from the men's Rugby Super League, reports the Mirror. The only catch is that those without an existing Sky package will need to pair Sky Sports with a TV and Netflix plan. However, these combined plans were revamped last year and now start at £35 for Essential TV and Sky Sports. This package includes more than 100 regular TV channels such as Sky Atlantic, along with free Netflix and Discovery+ subscriptions. For an additional £20, customers can also add TNT Sports to their package, a much cheaper option than the £30.99 it costs to subscribe directly through Discovery+ Premium, allowing them to enjoy next season's European competitions. This offer comes as Virgin Media launches its rival Summer of Sports sale, which provides substantial discounts across its own Sky Sports packages until September 2. These start with the Bigger Combo bundle + Sports, which includes more than 200 TV channels, eight of which are from Sky Sports such as Main Event, Football and F1. The package also includes 516Mbps fibre broadband, all of which has been reduced from £65.99 to £54.99 – a saving of £264. However, a drawback to both Sky and Virgin's plans is that customers will experience at least two bill increases during their 24-month term as each provider raises their prices every April. This year, Sky introduced a 6.2% increase for its TV customers but has yet to confirm next year's change. Virgin has already confirmed that the Bigger Combo bundle + Sports will rise to £58.49 from April 2026 and £61.99 from April 2027. What sets Sky apart from its competitors is the opportunity to cancel a contract after a price rise is announced, an option not offered by Virgin.

Top Tech: Sky vs Virgin Media as one sport plan cut to 66p a day and £260 TV for £0
Sky and Virgin Media hit top of the sports TV sales this week. Our Top Tech team has rounded up the deals It's good news for footie fans, as the 2025/26 Premier League season kicks off in a few days, and for keen savers, there are two rival sales allowing fans to cut their costs. As Virgin Media and Sky go up against each other. Starting with Sky, for only 66p per day, fans can lock into a much cheaper contract ahead of kick-off next week, on Friday, August 15. The provider has dropped the price to £20 per month, which works out to pennies per day when split over a 30-day period. Over at Virgin Media, the retailer is back with its free TV or £150 bill credit deal. Anyone who takes out a Bigger Combo + Sports HD bundle from £54.99 a month will get a 4K Toshiba TV for £0 - and the plan includes Sky Sports. 48p-a-day supplement 'solved tummy issues' for shoppers but deal ends soon Get £90 off Shark deep-cleaner that makes grubby carpets look 'brand new' Two plans currently offering a huge saving for consumers, but what do they both include? Tech Commerce Editor Harriet Morphy-Morris and sports TV writer Jake Hackney have dived into the details. Both the Sky and Virgin Media contracts are set across a 24-month period, so no matter which customers choose, the obligation is the same. Now, onto the price. At first glance Sky's package seems cheaper at £20 a month for the Sky Sports subscription, but there is a small catch. Without an existing Sky package will need to bundle Sky Sports with a TV and Netflix plan which start at £35 for Essential TV and Sky Sports, as Jake highlights for Wales Online. The plan comes with access to nine Sky Sports channels, including Main Event, Premier League, Football, F1, Golf and Tennis. It also includes the newly launched Sky Sports+ channel at no extra cost, which offers live streams of more than 1,000 live EFL games, every Carabao Cup fixture and every match from the men's Rugby Super League, according to the Mirror. This bundle boasts over 100 standard telly channels, including Sky Atlantic, and throws in Netflix and Discovery+ subscriptions for free. For an extra £20, punters can also tack on TNT Sports to their package, a far more wallet-friendly alternative than the £30.99 monthly fee charged by Discovery+ Premium, ensuring they won't miss out on the upcoming season's European clashes. It comes as Virgin Media unveils its competing Summer of Sports sale, offering hefty markdowns across its own Sky Sports packages until 2 September. The discounts kick off with the Bigger Combo bundle + Sports, which delivers over 200 TV channels, eight of which are Sky Sports offerings such as Main Event, Football and F1. The bundle also comes with a speedy 516Mbps fibre broadband connection, all of which has been slashed from £65.99 down to £54.99 – a £264 saving. As we pointed out at the start, there's also the newest free TV deal. This is aimed for shoppers who want both TV and broadband, and especially sports fans. It comes with a choice of 204 TV channels, including a host of sports channels, so customers can watch Premier League football, WSL, F1, Cricket, Golf and Tennis - all in HD. It also comes with M500 fibre broadband, which has an average download speed of 516Mbps. Now onto a catch for both Sky and Virgin customers - bill hikes. Consumers will face at least two bill hikes during their 24-month contract as each provider ups their prices every April. Sky added a 6.2% increase on its TV customers this year, but is yet to reveal next year's adjustment. Meanwhile, Virgin has already announced that the Bigger Combo bundle + Sports will jump to £58.49 from April 2026 and then to £61.99 from April 2027.

We're now two weeks away from the new Premier League season and football fans are being offered Sky Sports for 66p per day off on August 15, with title holders Liverpool facing Bournemouth at Anfield. Sky Sports pack drops by £330 in record low Virgin Media deal as Premier League nears
Virgin Media has slashed the price of several TV bundles that include Sky Sports access just in time for the new Premier League season. The brand's Summer of Sports sale offers discounts of up to £336 across select bundles until September 2. The price cuts come less than a month before the start of the 2025/26 Premier League season on August 15. The most affordable package is Virgin's Bigger Combo bundle + Sports, which has been reduced from £65.99 to £54.99 per month – a saving of £264. This package includes more than 200 TV channels, including eight Sky Sports channels such as Main Event, Football and F1. It also provides 516Mbps fibre broadband for smooth, lag-free streaming and gaming. The Biggest Combo bundle is also reduced, offering the same Sky Sports channels and 516Mbps broadband, but also including Sky Cinema and a free subscription to Netflix Standard with ads. This bundle is now priced at £64.99, down from £78.99 – a massive £336 saving. Virgin says these are the 'lowest ever' prices for its sports packages. Additionally, there's a £120 discount on Virgin's packed Mega Volt bundle, which provides more than 230 TV channels with Sky Sports HD, Sky Cinema HD and Netflix Standard with ads, plus a whopping 1,130Mbps broadband, reports the Mirror. This comprehensive package also includes an O2 SIM card with unlimited data, minutes and texts, for a monthly cost of £79.99, reduced from £84.99. Virgin customers can add a discounted TNT Sports package to their subscriptions for £18, compared to the usual £30.99 rate when signing up directly. All of Virgin's TV and broadband plans now have a 24-month term, matching with those offered by competitors such as Sky. However, it's worth noting that Virgin intends to raise its prices every April, with the Bigger Combo bundle + Sports set to increase to £58.49 from April 2026 and £61.99 from April 2027. The Summer of Sport sale sees Virgin going toe-to-toe with Sky's own discounted sports package, the £35 Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle. Although this option doesn't include broadband, it does offer nine dedicated sports channels, 100 regular channels including Sky Atlantic, and free subscriptions to Netflix Standard with ads and Discovery+. However, boxing fans should be aware that many of the biggest fights are only available through one-off pay-per-view payments. For instance, the Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois fight on July 19 can be ordered from DAZN for £24.99 or is currently included for free with a DAZN Annual plan. Virgin customers keen on sports will have plenty to cheer about as they can look forward to a minimum of 215 Premier League matches each season from 2025/26, with Sky ramping up its live game broadcasts from 128 to at least 215. One satisfied Virgin customer left a glowing review on Trustpilot, saying: "10 out of 10 for Virgin Media. We have been with Virgin for a year now and are very pleased with the service, it's been fantastic to have all the sports channels as we love football. I was able to get a great deal." Another user encountered some technical issues, saying: "Sometimes my Virgin box freezes, turns off and resets, and it takes around seven minutes to reboot. This is annoying when watching football." While another happy customer said: "I'm extremely happy with the product and service. The broadband speed is second to none and extremely reliable. The TV package is also superb – Ok, it doesn't have Sky Atlantic but with Netflix, Sky Cinema and all the Sports channels included, there's enough to watch."

Virgin Media's Sky Sports bundles cut by £330 ahead of Premier League season
Virgin has slashed more than £300 off select TV, broadband and Sky Sports bundles to their 'lowest ever price' in its Summer of Sports sale, offering plenty of Premier League, EFL and Formula 1 action for less Virgin Media has slashed the price of several TV bundles offering Sky Sports access ahead of the new Premier League season. The provider has launched a new Summer of Sports sale, with discounts of up to £336 available until September 2. It comes in time for the return of the Premier League, with the 2025/26 season due to kick off on August 15. The most affordable option is Virgin's Bigger Combo bundle + Sports, which has been cut from £65.99 to £54.99 per month – a saving of £264.
