Pedestrian hit near Blithfield Reservoir dies as driver arrested
A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, after a man died on Police was called to the B5013 at Blithfield Reservoir at 21:30 BST, following reports of a collision involving a blue Fiat and a man, who was in his 20s, died at the teenager, from Stafford, has since been released on conditional bail while the investigation continues. Police appeal as man in 20s dies after fatal collision at reservoir
Police are appealing for witnesses after a man in his 20s died following a collision at a Staffordshire reservoir. Officers and paramedics had been sent to Blithfield Reservoir near Abbots Bromley to reports of a collision between a Fiat car and a pedestrian. As reported by StokeonTrentLive an off-duty doctor was tending to the man as paramedics arrived. West Midlands Ambulance Service say that sadly nothing could be done to save the patient who was confirmed as dead at the scene. Police are now appealing for witnesses. Emergency services were sent to the scene at around 9.30pm. We were called to the B5013 Uttoxeter Road at Blithfield Reservoir yesterday (August 12) following reports of a collision involving a blue Fiat and a pedestrian. "Sadly the pedestrian, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. His family are being supported by specially trained officers at this time. The driver of the Fiat remained at the scene and is assisting us with our enquiries." Police are keen to hear from anyone travelling along the reservoir between 9.15pm and 9.35pm. The ambulance service say it received reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian at the junction of Watery Lane and the B5013 causeway. An ambulance, HART paramedics and a paramedic officer were sent to the beauty spot. A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: 'An off-duty doctor was at the scene with the pedestrian, a man, when ambulance staff arrived. Sadly, nothing could be done to save him and the man was confirmed deceased a short time later by ambulance staff. 'The driver of the car sustained minor injuries and was discharged on scene.'
