Blue Bell brings back fan favorite ice cream… but there's a catch

Ice cream enthusiasts are rejoicing over the return of Blue Bell Creameries' Cookie Cake Ice Cream. The fan-favorite treat returned to stores last week, one year after being named runner-up in the brand's Great Scoop Revival Flavor Tournament. 'The flavor is a sweet cream ice cream loaded with chocolate chip cookie cake pieces and swirls of chocolate and vanilla icing,' an Instagram post read. Fans, including well-known food blogger Snackolator, were thrilled to learn the 'amazing' treat is back in freezers. Unfortunately, they were disappointed to learn the flavor is only available for a limited time. 'I'm literally begging you to reconsider this "limited time" thing,' an Instagram user wrote. 'Thank you bluebell - now let's make it a flavor available year round,' another fan responded. Others have already stocked up on the item and have requested the brand bring back peach cobbler or confetti cake ice cream next. Blue Bell's Cookie Cake Ice Cream debuted in stores six years ago and was removed in 2020. The sweet treat, featuring chocolate chip cookie cake pieces and swirls of chocolate and vanilla ice cream, instantly became a must-have flavor. While the flavor was the brand's contest runner-up, it was a close race, leading to Blue Bell's decision to rerelease it this year. Instagrammers also gave a shoutout to that year's winner, Groom's Cake Ice Cream. Groom's Cake was returned to stores on May 1 and remains available for purchase at retailers nationwide. Unfortunately, like Cookie Cake, this flavored ice cream is only available for a limited time. Both ice creams were selected from a bracket of 16 Blue Bell brand flavors. Other flavors that had the chance to win a store return include Blueberry Cheesecake, Lemon Bliss, and Tiramisu. Blue Bell's ice cream is not the only cookie-themed treat to hit shelves this year. Post Malone partnered with Oreo and released limited-edition salted caramel and shortbread-flavored cookies in February. A-list star Selena Gomez, with a little help from fiancé Benny Blanco, released a signature Oreo last month to celebrate her Mexican-American heritage. The cookie features chocolate-cinnamon flavored wafers and chocolate-cinnamon cream. Other cookies that made headlines for debuts and returns include Jimmy John's Lemon Sunshine Cookie and Costco's new cookie variety.

Blue Bell bringing back beloved ice cream flavor ahead of summer

Blue Bell Creameries is bringing back a beloved ice cream flavor ahead of the summer season. On Thursday, the Brenham, Texas-based ice cream company announced the return of its Groom's Cake Ice Cream, which is made with Blue Bell Milk Chocolate Ice Cream that is mixed with chocolate cake pieces, chocolate-coated strawberry hearts, strawberry sauce and chocolate icing. "Blue Bell is excited to release these returning fan favorite ice cream flavors for a limited time, just in time for the perfect ice cream eating weather!" a spokesperson for Blue Bell told "Good Morning America" via email. The pink Groom's Cake flavor, first introduced in 2009 and discontinued at shops in 2018, was fans' No. 1 pick in Blue Bell's The Great Scoop Revival Flavor Tournament last year and will now be available in pints and half-gallon cartons for a limited time. "We are excited to have Groom's Cake back in stores this year," Kelli Remmert, Blue Bell's marketing communications manager, said in a statement."It is always difficult to say goodbye to an ice cream flavor that you love. Being able to interact with our fans and hear directly from them is always fun. We plan to have another flavor tournament in the future, and we know the competition will be just as sweet." Groom's Cake will be on shelves alongside Blue Bell's Bride's Cake flavor, an almond ice cream flavor that's mixed with white cake pieces and amaretto cream cheese icing swirl, the creamery explained in an Instagram post. Blue Bell also plans to reintroduce the runner-up flavor from the Great Scoop Revival Flavor Tournament -- Cookie Cake -- later in May. "The competition was fierce because our fans are very passionate about Blue Bell Ice Cream," Remmert said. "We are happy to be able to bring back not one, but two favorite flavors." The Cookie Cake flavor, a natural fit for sweet tooths, is made with sweet cream ice cream that is mixed with chocolate chip cookie cake pieces and chocolate and vanilla icing swirls. This flavor will also be sold in pints and half-gallon cartons.

'That's bananas!' Blue Bell drops new Banana Fudge Ice Cream to welcome spring

Spring is just around the corner, and of course Blue Bell Creameries has launched a new ice cream flavor to celebrate. Banana Fudge Ice Cream consists of milk chocolate ice cream swirled with banana flavored ice cream. The new product's listing describes it as "a perfect spring treat, reminiscent of past frozen snack bars on a stick." "Our new Banana Fudge Ice Cream combines two flavors that complement each other so well," said Sara Schramm, Blue Bell marketing brand manager. "Chocolate and banana ice creams are popular treats all on their own. But swirl these two in one carton, and you have an incredibly smooth and delicious dessert." 'We know our fans still crave the frozen snack bars on a stick that featured banana and chocolate,' Schramm continued. 'We have received requests over the years to return these products to our lineup. We thought, why not shake things up and bring this delicious combination back as an ice cream?' Blue Bell teased the launch of the flavor on social media Monday, alongside an edited version of its iconic logo with an orange background and a curvy yellow stripe down the cow's middle. "New logo? That's bananas! It's more like a new flavor clue," the creamery wrote on Facebook. People were quick to decipher the message — and went bananas, as expected. "Are you bringing the banana fudge back?????" one user commented. "Y'all better be bringing back the banana fudge bars or I'll riot!" another wrote. "We the people are SICK of waiting!" Blue Bell's Banana Fudge Ice Cream is available in half-gallon and pint containers — but only for a limited time. The launch of Banana Fudge Ice Cream comes just weeks after Blue Bell announced Strawberry Toaster Pastry and Mardi Gras King Cake ice cream. Both flavors coincided with upcoming holidays, National Ice Cream for Breakfast Day and Mardi Gras.
