Yes, when Purdue's Michael Jackson reached the end zone, you'll see some dance moves

WEST LAFAYETTE — It could be a thriller of a season for Purdue football. That is, if Michael Jackson III is a constant in the end zone. Among the Boilermakers' offseason roster overhaul was Jackson, a fifth-year senior receiver who spent three seasons at USC before playing at Georgia a year ago. Re-live Purdue's run to the Final Four Long ago, he came to terms with his name being the same as the legendary pop icon. "It's just something that doesn't go away," Jackson said after Purdue's football practice on Tuesday. "I embrace it now. It's cool for me to share a name with a legend." Two seasons ago with USC, after catching a touchdown from quarterback Caleb Williams in a win over Nevada, he paid homage to his namesake with a Michael Jackson-esque dance move. He promises more of the same if he finds the end zone with the Boilermakers. "I am trying to practice a few dances," Jackson said. Asked if he'll perform the moonwalk, Jackson said, "of course." Jackson has five career touchdown receptions, with four of those coming during USC's 2022 season. Sam King covers sports for the Journal & Courier. Purdue football's SEC transfer haul continues with former Mississippi State cornerback

Purdue football's spring roster remake has leaned heavily on former Southeastern Conference players, and that continued Tuesday night. Former Memphis and Mississippi State cornerback Traveon Wright committed to the Boilermakers. He became the eighth former SEC player to join the roster in the spring transfer portal window. Barry Odom previously added six former SEC players during the winter window. Wright did not play during a redshirt freshman season at Memphis. He played in one game in his lone season with the Rebels and retains three years of eligibility. The Georgia native was a three-star prospect in the 2023 class, ranked No. 1,714 overall in the 247Sports national composite. Wright became the second defensive back transfer addition of the day, after former Memphis and Northwestern safety An'Darius Coffey.
