Ipswich Town legend George Burley has been nominated for an award for a book he co-wrote about his time as manager of the club. Burley, 68, and co-author Neil Prentice have been shortlisted in the Illustrated Book of the Year category at Thursday's Sports Book Awards for 'All To Play For: Ipswich Town FC The George Burley Era 1994-2002'.It documents his time as manager of the club for which he played more than 500 times from 1973 to 1985, having joined as a teenager."Coming in as a 15-year-old, it shaped me as a person, not just a footballer," he said. Burley led the Blues back to the top flight, where they finished fifth in their first season, winning him Premier League Manager of the Season in said the team "never gave up" and were determined to do better each season, especially going against bigger clubs. PUTRAJAYA — Minister of Law and Institutional Reform in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said and Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick will represent the Malaysian Government at the State Funeral Ceremony for the late Pope Francis (picture), scheduled for April 26 in Vatican City. The Foreign Ministry confirmed this in a statement on Friday. The State Funeral will include a solemn Mass in St Peter's Square, Vatican City, presided over by the Dean of the College of Cardinals, Giovanni Battista Re. Following the Mass, a ceremonial procession will accompany His Holiness's remains to the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome, where he will be laid to rest in a private interment. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has also expressed his condolences on the passing of Pope Francis on 21 April 2025. In his message, the Prime Minister paid tribute to Pope Francis's profound contributions to interfaith dialogue, environmental stewardship, and the defence of the marginalised. On April 23 April, Ewon had signed the Book of Condolences at the Apostolic Nunciature in Kuala Lumpur, on behalf of the Government of Malaysia. — BERNAMA

Competition to memorize Quran for detainees in Sana'a

Sana'a - Saba: The administration of the Pretrial Detention Center in Sana'a Governorate organized a Quran memorization competition for the year 1446 AH, with the participation of 20 contestants from prison inmates, coinciding with the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Ali (peace be upon him). During the competition, the Director of the New Sana'a District, Abdullah Al-Marouni, highlighted the status held by those who have memorized the Holy Quran within society and their role in promoting the values contained in the Book of God Almighty. He emphasized the commitment of the Revolutionary Leadership, the Supreme Political Council, and the governorate's local authorities to rehabilitate and reform prison inmates, benefiting them in this world and the hereafter. Al-Marouni praised the efforts of the prison administration in caring for the inmates and the level of preparation and equipment for holding and ensuring the success of the competition. He emphasized the commitment to supporting the reformatory and providing the necessary resources to enable it to perform its role to the fullest. The Director of the Remand Prison, Major Mazen Issa, emphasized the commitment to improving the treatment of inmates by providing an appropriate environment for them to utilize their time in prison to develop their talents and abilities and to become righteous. The participants in the competition appreciated the prison administration's commitment and support to the inmates to continue their education and rehabilitation at various educational levels, and to provide them with all appropriate conditions. At the conclusion of the competition, attended by a number of local and executive leaders, the memorizers were honored with certificates, shields, and prizes.
