First Rand Park netball team shines
Rand Park High School's first netball team made history at the DSTV Netball Challenge, finishing 17th out of 24 teams in the Botho Section. They were also named the top English-speaking school in South Africa.
Coach Kayleigh Bendall praised the team's determination and unity, saying it was a huge achievement for their first time competing at this level. 'The girls showed mental toughness, adaptability, and incredible teamwork throughout the tournament. They truly made history for Rand Park.'
Co-captain Georgia Leppan described the experience as 'magical,' highlighting how the team supported each other through tough games and stayed focused on their goals. 'Everyone showed up when it counted and played as one team.'

Co-captain Hayley José added, 'I'm so proud of the team's spirit and how we motivated each other to give our best. This experience has made me stronger as a player and leader.'
Both captains are confident about the future. Georgia said, 'Next year's team will build on this legacy,' while Hayley hopes their success inspires other players to keep pushing.
Individual honours include Leppan's selection among the top 35 U18 players at the Telkom Netball Championships and Oluchi Ndubueze's spot on the South African U16 National Team.
