Dance Moves: Mau P, Zack Martino & Calvin Harris Hit New Highs

Billboard's Dance Moves roundup serves as a guide to the biggest movers and shakers across Billboard's many dance charts — new No. 1s, new top 10s, first-timers and more. This week, on charts dated May 24, Mau P, Zach Martino, Calvin Harris and others achieve new feats. Check out key movers below. More from Billboard Bow Wow Reveals Beats He Passed On - Including Rick Ross, Drake & French Montana's 'Stay Schemin' SZA Says She's 'Actually So Shocked' by the 'Bullying' Megan Thee Stallion Is Facing in Tory Lanez Shooting Case Karol G Lands First No. 1 on Hot Latin Pop Songs Chart With 'Milagros' Mau P earns his first-ever No. 1 on a Billboard chart this week, as his remix of Tame Impala's 'The Less I Know the Better' jumps 5-1 on Dance/Mix Show Airplay. Released in February via Nervous Records, the song hits No. 1 with a 31% surge in plays among 24/7 dance reporters and pop stations' mix show hours, according to Luminate. The remix reimagines Tame Impala's 2015 psych-pop staple from its album Currents, which ruled the Top Alternative Albums and reached No. 4 on the Billboard 200. The original track was a fan favorite, reaching No. 35 on Hot Rock & Alternative Songs and No. 37 on Alternative Airplay. Tame Impala's Kevin Parker, credited as the sole writer, collects his third No. 1 on Dance/Mix Show Airplay, following two smashes with Dua Lipa in 2024: 'Houdini' (four weeks at No. 1) and 'Illusion' (five weeks). He also reached the chart as a writer on Lady Gaga's 'Perfect Illusion' in 2016 (No. 28 peak). As for Mau P (also known as Maurice West), the Amsterdam-born DJ scores his first No. 1. He previously appeared on Dance/Mix Show Airplay with 'Drugs From Amsterdam' (No. 16 peak; 2023) and 'On Again' (No. 24; 2024). He's also charted four entries on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs: 'Drugs From Amsterdam' (No. 25), 'Gimme That Bounce' (No. 35; 2023), 'Receipts,' with Diplo featuring Gunna (No. 24; 2024), and 'The Less I Know the Better' (No. 14). Mau P has been active in the house and techno worlds for nearly a decade. He's collaborated with other dance heavyweights, including Swedish House Mafia, Calvin Harris and Armand van Helden. Zack Martino, JAYEM and Aviella debut on this week's Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart with their collaborative single, 'Afterlove.' Released in December on Liftoff Recordings, the song arrives at No. 31, earning the week's highest debut, with a 32% spike in plays. The song earns Martino his fifth career chart entry, and first since 2020's 'Something About You,' featuring Kifi (No. 33 peak). He first cracked the chart in 2018 with 'Hold On to Me,' which climbed to No. 3. 'Afterlove' is also a milestone for New York City-based DJ JAYEM (real name Justin Mondello), as the song marks his first-ever appearance on Billboard's charts. '[Charting on Billboard has been] a dream of mine I've been longing to achieve ever since I started producing music,' he shared in a post on Instagram. 'It's an honor to be on such a prestigious chart alongside artist[s] I've looked up to my whole career.' For Aviella, the song earns the singer-songwriter her fourth career entry on Dance/Mix Show Airplay. She topped the chart with her debut hit in 2021, 'Tell Me What You're Thinking.' Calvin Harris' 'Blessings,' featuring Clementine Douglas, debuts at No. 3 on the latest Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, marking the highest debut of the week. It opens with 2.9 million U.S. streams and 1,000 downloads sold earned in its opening week (May 9-15). The song earns Calvin Harris his 54th career entry on the chart, and 25th top 10 — the third-most in the chart's history after David Guetta and Kygo (27 each). It's also his record-extending 14th top five hit. As for Douglas, the song is her third career entry on the chart, after 'Miracle Maker' with Dom Dolla (No. 35 peak; 2022), and 'Asking' with Sonny Fodera and MK (No. 44; 2023). PinkPantheress' new mixtape Fancy That, released via 300/AG, debuts at No. 4 on the latest Top Dance Albums chart with 14,000 equivalent album units earned in its opening week (May 9-15). It also opens at No. 72 on the Billboard 200 and No. 21 on Vinyl Albums. PinkPantheress has charted two other albums on Billboard's charts, but neither appeared on Billboard's dance rankings: To Hell With It reached No. 73 on the Billboard 200 in 2021 and Heaven Knows peaked at No. 61 on the Billboard 200 in 2023. The duo's new electronic/ambient project, Tall Tales, debuts at No. 14 on the Top Dance Albums chart with 4,000 equivalent album units earned in its opening week. The album earns Pritchard his second career entry on Top Dance Albums, after his solo album Under the Sun in 2016 (No. 15 peak). It's Yorke's fourth entry, after The Eraser Rmxs (No. 13; 2009), Tomorrow's Modern Boxes (No. 13; 2015) and Anima (No. 1; 2019). Bow Wow Reveals Beats He Passed On — Including Rick Ross, Drake & French Montana's ‘Stay Schemin'

Bow Wow gave fans some interesting insight into how beats get passed around, while also making a crazy revelation. Sitting down with former NBA player Jeff Teague for his Club 520 podcast, Bow Wow was asked which songs he's passed on over the course of his career. First, he mentioned passing on the beat that eventually became Wale's 'Lotus Flower Bomb,' featuring Miguel, because nothing was sticking when he was trying to write a song for it. He then told Club 520 that Polow da Don sent him the beat to Lil Wayne and Rick Ross' song 'John' from Tha Carter IV by mistake after he had already invited Gucci Mane to make a song over Polow's production. 'We had the beat first,' he said after saying him and Meek were in the studio working on it. 'You can look that up on YouTube. We had it first. We in Miami in the studio working on the beat together.' He added that beats being passed around happens all the time in the music business. 'It's just crazy how these beats get submitted to artists and we all get them. But it's dope for me to be able to tell these stories,' he admitted. 'There's so many artists that have those type of stories that you won't even believe.' You can watch the full episode below. 25 Unforgettable '106 & Park' Moments

Black America Web Featured Video CLOSE For Millenials and the first wave of Gen-Z, BET became the epicenter for all things cool in our culture thanks to a music video countdown show called 106 & Park . All this excitement put us in the most nostalgic of moods, and we just had to revisit some memorable moments in 106 & Park history before the next era begins. From last moments preserved on camera with superstars that are unfortunately no longer here with us to unforgettable live performances that for some musicians were their first, the show's legacy is truly unmatched. Keep scrolling for the throwback jam of the day with these 25 most memorable moments in 106 & Park history, and be sure to tune in for the 25th anniversary special at the 2025 BET Awards airing live on Monday, June 9, at 8 PM ET/PT: Where it all began! …points for being progressive, right? Only Bobby & Whitney at their peak together could pull off such a random-yet-fun appearance! Just four days later, her life would end in a tragic plane crash. Baby Girl will forever be missed. We definitely give him an A+ for effort and creativity! At a time when the world froze in wake of tragedy, many relied on the NYC-centric 106 & Park to make sense of such a monumental moment in world history. From the now-defunct Virgin Megastore to the loss of MJ himself, so many things about this moment proved to be once-in-a-lifetime. KMazur His legacy in bringing together the Asian and African American communities during this time will always be respected. Whether you were Team Naturi Naughton or Team Adrienne Bailon and Kiely Willams, it was a pint-sized catfight for the ages either way. Forget the popcorn — get the KFC! That one time everyone thought Kim and G had a thing going on, and would probably get it on in front of the whole audience! A weeklong activation hosted from the Hollywood Center Studios with appearances from Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, Laila Ali, Andre 3000 and Kanye West amongst others back when he was still rocking with us. Good times! Frederick M. Brown Still a tear-jerker of a moment! Tom Cruise embarked on a highly-publicized promo run that day, including a firetruck to a heliport, a helicopter downtown for a first screening in Tribeca, a speedboat to Harlem and finally a sports car to the Magic Johnson Theatre for a live episode of 106 and Park that included a second screening. The journey was almost as epic as the dance! The double entendre of it all is what got us the most. Back when hip-hop beefs (and Kanye!) were still fun. Although Rocsi has now gone on record to say the onscreen tension was all a ploy for her and Terrence to get vacation time, let's just say their acting was Oscar-worthy. A month after the infamous Chris Brown and Rihanna abuse scandal, the show put together a special report that fans of both artists needed to see. Oh, and Free returned! Mark Von Holden We know Raven was just being funny, but man was this cringe-worthy! A milestone that was well-worth celebrating. Impressive skills on the mic aside, Blind Fury was an early pioneer for defying ableism. It was a moment 14 years in the making at the time, and we can only hope these 90s R&B queens continue the collaborative efforts for years to come. One thing 106 & Park always did was carve out time to tackle the important topics when it mattered the most. Ilya S. Savenok We're surprised they didn't become a power couple after this! Moments like this prove why Mrs. O will forever go down as the coolest First Lady to step foot in The White House. Bennett Raglin/BET All the hosts came together for one last show — Shorty da Prince, Paigion and Miss Mykie from the short-lived 'The Search' even returned! — and we even got an epic battle between the two 'Freestyle Friday' icons MC Jin and Blind Fury.
