Bow Wow Speaks On Ciara's Absence From 'Like You' BET Awards Performance

Yahooa day ago

Bow Wow performed a medley of nostalgic hits during the 106 & Park reunion at the 2025 BET Awards, which included his 2005 smash 'Like You' featuring Ciara.
Following the performance, fans took to social media to share their disappointment over Ciara's absence despite being present in the room. Bow, né Shad Moss, addressed fans' concerns with his view on why he believes his former girlfriend was left out of his set.
TMZ ran into the 'Ghetto Girls' rapper after the show, and he explained why he didn't take the stage with Ci Ci, chalking it up to his unawareness that she was there. 'I didn't know she was in the building,' he admitted after saying that it's the network's job to source the talent. 'I been in my trailer all day, I been in rehearsals, hosting red carpets, but I will say that it would've been a wonderful moment.'
He added, 'I know she was in attendance … well, I didn't know that until I got off stage and went back to my trailer and checked Twitter (now X).'
The 2025 BET Awards pulled out all the nostalgic stops to celebrate its 25th anniversary on Monday (June 9), delivering a history-making moment with a long-anticipated 106 & Park reunion. Complete with a replica of the original set staged inside Los Angeles' Peacock Theater, the tribute brought back fan-favorite hosts Free, Julissa Bermudez, Keshia Chanté, Big Tigger, and Terrence J to honor the iconic music countdown show that shaped an era of Black culture.
Ashanti took the stage with her timeless hit 'Unfoolish,' followed by Jim Jones turning the entire theater into a sea of invisible jump shots with his anthem 'Ballin.' Amerie, Mya, and Keyshia Cole reminded the world why women in 2000s R&B still reign supreme, as T.I. returned with royal flair, reminding everyone why he still is the 'King of the South.'
And then there was B2K, who had grown women screaming like it was 2002 all over again with 'Bump, Bump, Bump.' But the moment that sealed it all came when Bow Wow, affectionately known as 'Mr. 106 & Park,' closed the tribute with 'Like You' and 'Fresh Azimiz,' cementing his legacy as one of the show's most memorable artists and former hosts.

10 Father's Day Gifts For Black Dads That Won't Break the Bank

Source: FG Trade / Getty Look, I'm not going to be that guy who comes around every June and reminds y'all how Father's Day is the unmitigated afterthought of parental observance holidays. I'm not here to count cards, compare brunch budgets, or shame your decision to spend half a mortgage payment on your momma's bouquet while Dad got a mug that says 'Grill Sergeant.' Nah. We get it. Y'all love your mommas. You love seeing them in their fancy hats at church. You love how they hold you down, gas you up, and remind you that you're worthy of good things. And you should! But when it comes to your fathers, especially your Black fathers, y'all consistently fail to meet the moment. So this year, let's flip the script. Forget the neckties nobody asked for and the Outback Steakhouse reservations we never requested. Here's a list of ten gifts that won't max out your debit card but will actually mean something to that Black dad in your life. Whether he's your biological pops, your bonus dad, or the community uncle who rolled with your old man an'nem back in '83, these are the kinds of gifts that speak to the heart of Black fatherhood in 2025. Black fatherhood is a constant state of preemptive planning. From knowing which gas stations we don't go to to how to avoid that one stretch of I-290 where they got that four-lane merge, we stay game planning. So imagine the relief when, just once, you come to us with a solved problem. 'I already talked to financial aid.' 'I figured out the plumbing issue.' 'I found a good internship.' THAT is a gift. That is peace. That is knowing that the years of preparing you for this moment weren't wasted. We don't always need to be heroes. Sometimes, we just need to know that you've got this. We're not saying dads don't enjoy a good time. But if Father's Day means being the unsuspecting star of your TikTok prank, or the punchline to your latest group chat roast, go ahead and miss us with that. This year, give us the gift of being cool again. Compliment the fit. Say our playlist actually goes. Ask us about our high school stats and act like they still matter. We know the hairline's on a journey, but damn, let us be who we still see in the mirror in peace. That thing? That we placed exactly there? With duct tape and prayer? That was done on purpose . Dads don't improvise, dads engineer . Whether it's a makeshift dryer vent, an iPad holder made from a coat hanger, or keeping you from that shady cousin who's always 'starting a business,' trust that our actions were protective, not just practical. So this year, honor the rigged solutions and the boundaries we set. That was love in action. Don't fix it. Don't move it. Just say, 'Thanks, Pops.' We know you're grown (enough). We know you're busy. But the world isn't going anywhere, and neither are we (well, not yet). Give us the gift of being present. Watch the game without checking your phone. Take the scenic route with us and don't rush to the next thing. Let's cook, sit, talk nonsense, and watch clouds roll by like we used to. Our favorite version of you is the one that remembers how to just be . You know we were right. About the relationship. About the job. About that used Saab 9-3 that was definitely lemon-adjacent. Give us the gift of admission. Not because we need to be right, but because it lets us know you were listening . Say, 'You know what, Dad? You were onto something.' Watch us light up like it's our birthday. We said what we said. Tell her she can text us if she wants to. 👋🏾 Listen, we know you're grown. But give us the gift of peace of mind. Stop rolling with that one friend who 'don't believe in car insurance.' Stop taking sketchy gigs from Craigslist. Stop posting cryptic tweets that sound like you're three minutes away from a situationship relapse. Let us breathe easy knowing you're choosing safety, peace, and long-term joy over fast chaos. Just for today. Please. We love you . Not your whole kickback crew. This year, we don't want the cookout to turn into a networking event for your friend's candle startup. We don't want to meet your situationship unless it's serious-serious. Give us some one-on-one time. It doesn't mean we don't love your people. It just means that on this day, we want you . This isn't a request for a gift. We really just wanna know in case we're close to there later. Might stop by. You never know. Let us know it mattered. That all the rides, all the sacrifices, all the times we stayed silent so you could find your voice, meant something. Give us the gift of acknowledgment. Tell us we mattered. Because while the world often treats Black men like we're disposable or dangerous, you've seen us be human. Be tender. Be tired. Be joyful. And you seeing that? That's the greatest gift of all. So yes, Father's Day gets the short end of the stick. But we don't need a parade. We just need you to know we were there. That we are there. That all of this—raising you, protecting you, building a life around your safety and your dreams—was never about the clout. It was about love. We are the menders of broken things, the fixers of what can't be explained, the protectors of dreams we were never allowed to have. And all we ask for is a little love back. A little attention. A little acknowledgment that we didn't completely fumble the assignment. This year, give your dad what he actually needs: peace, presence, and a 'thank you' said like you mean it. And okay…maybe a trip to Costco, too. SEE ALSO: Op-Ed: Black Fathers Vs. Kai Cenat Blames His Age On Wale Ignorance, X Not Convinced: 'I'm Young!'

Source: Kayla Oaddams / Getty Streamer Kai Cenat and rapper Wale found themselves in 2025-worthy non-controversy during and after the 2025 BET Awards on Monday night (June 9). After Kai ran into Wale but had seemingly had no idea who he was, he says to blame his youth, not his heart, basically. As previously reported, Wale was playing on his Nintendo Switch and ran into Kai Cenat. But, while streaming live, Kai asked 'What he do?' and had to be hipped that it was a rapper, while also mispronouncing said MC's name. Social media loves a controversy and the chirping commenced, but Wale added gas to the moment by later approaching Kai on quiet (not really), and saying their previous hallway interactions was making him look 'crazy.' However, Kai was mic'd up and the audio came in crystal clear to the entire world. Add Wale's alleged history of 'sensitivity' to the mix and a faux-controversy was launched. Fast forward to Thursday (June 12), and Kai Cenat is claiming it's his age that caused the Wale ignorance. 'I'ma go ahead and say to Wale, umm, I hope he didn't take my interaction personal, ya feel me…how can you blame me from just being who I am? You feel me? I'm young!,' said Kai on his chat. After proceeding to play Wale's hit with Miguel 'Lotus Flower Bomb,' Kai added, after noting he knows the song, '2011? I was nine years old.' Many people pointed to Kai's youth off the rip. But many are also unconvinced, considering being aware of pop culture goes with his streamer lifestyle/gig. But also, as Wale has noted, they have met and interacted before. Also, if Kai is into J. Cole and Drake as he has claimed, how are you not familiar with Wale? All that to say, expect Wale to be streaming with Kai Cenat before the summer is up. Probably. Are you buying what Kai Cenat is selling? Check out reactions in the gallery. Black Celebrity Zaddies We Can't Get Enough Of

Source: Arnold Jerocki / Getty Father's Day is the perfect time to show appreciation for the men who balance parenting with presence, purpose, and undeniable swag. In the world of Black celebrity fathers, there's no shortage of men who do just that and look fine as hell while doing it. Kendrick Lamar , known for his lyrical brilliance and low-key lifestyle, has no problem expressing (whether in interviews or songs) how he holds fatherhood in high regard. Usher , who often discusses how not having his father in his life pushes him to be the ultimate dad, exudes a mature, grounded energy that makes him all the more appealing. And, of course, there's Drake, whose emotional openness and artistic legacy make his approach to fatherhood especially captivating. These men are not just attractive — they're helping to redefine what it means to be cool, committed, and connected. Black Celebrity Fathers We Adore The presence of loving and engaged Black fathers is more than just a family win; it's a cultural shift in narrative. For years, harmful stories have tried to minimize or erase the contributions of Black dads. But men like our celebrity dads mentioned above are living proof that Black fatherhood is multifaceted. They're rewriting the narrative, not just through fatherhood itself but through the visibility of it. Source: Ethan Miller / Getty So, this Father's Day, we're giving flowers (and heart-eyes) to the Black celeb dads who are raising kids while turning heads. They're not just fine — they're focused, intentional, and stylish. From studio sessions and movie sets to school pickup, these men prove that being a great dad and looking good while doing it never goes out of style. Jump in below to check out the celebrity fathers we love to call 'daddy.' Black Celebrity Zaddies We Can't Get Enough Of was originally published on Joey Bada$$ is giving Zaddy vibes for sure. Not only is the hunk as sexy as ever, but he also appears to be a devoted lover and father whose main focus is his business and family. Kendrick Lamar is one of the when it comes to rapping, and the fact that he also wears the father hat very well makes his entire aura irresistible. Usher has been taking sexy to a whole other level since the 90s, and the Grammy award-winning artist keeps getting better with time (Dad bod wear?). Not only is he still crushing the music scene, but he's also wearing the daddy cap oh-so-well. Drake's talent, coupled with his emotional aptitude when it comes to making music for women, makes him a contender on our Zaddy list. And, to top it all off, according to some of the lyrics in his popular songs, fatherhood is his most incredible honor. Is there even a Zaddy list that doesn't include Morris Chestnut?! He has been dominating movie and television screens for years with all his chocolate glory, and what makes him even more delicious is that he's a devoted husband and father. Idris is a triple threat. He's fine, adept at his craft, and he's a loving dad. We adore how his daughter dotes over him, which proves that he's a great dad. If there is such a thing as a cool dad, Jay Ellis is it. This smooth brother balances Hollywood and fatherhood effortlessly. When he gives us a sneak peek into his family life on social media, we swoon not only at his beautiful family but also at him. Even after having four kids, Tyler Lepley is still holding it down as a sexy dad. The actor oozes swag while on the screen and loving (fine) father when on the 'Gram.
