Father of girl killed in South West crash charged over threats to alleged driver, police

A grieving father whose 15-year-old daughter died when the car she was a passenger in crashed in WA's South West has been arrested after allegedly threatening to kill the driver, as well as police. Last week Greg Bragger, 47, told this masthead his world had been shattered following the death of his only child, Caitlyn, in a crash near Logue Brook Dam about 150 kilometres south of Perth. On Tuesday, Bragger faced Perth Magistrates Court after spending the night in custody for allegedly making three separate threats to kill. The court was told Bragger made multiple threats to kill the 16-year-old alleged driver of the Toyota Landcruiser who is believed to have been Caitlyn's boyfriend. He also allegedly made threats to kill police if they got in the way of Bragger killing the boy, the court was told. Prosecutors told the court that Bragger held the 16-year-old responsible, however no charges have been laid over the crash that happened on June 7 on Scarp Road near the intersection with Hoffman Road. At the time, police said the car left the road and rolled several times. Five other teenagers were also in the car with Caitlyn. The driver and a 17-year-old male passenger were taken by St John Ambulance to Bunbury Regional Hospital with serious injuries. An 18-year-old male passenger and two 16-year-old female passengers were treated for minor injuries sustained in the crash.

WA teen Caitlyn Bragger remembered as ‘ray of sunshine' after overloaded 4WD crashes

Tributes have begun to flow for a teen girl killed in a horror car accident near a camping ground on Saturday. Caitlyn Bragger, 15, was one of six teens in an overloaded 4WD that crashed near Brockman Lake on Scarp Rd at Hoffman, about an hour and 40 minutes south of Perth, at about 8pm. She was a passenger in the white Toyota LandCruiser which Western Australia Police said was driven by a 16-year-old boy. The car rolled several times in the crash, police said. Nearby campers told 7NEWS that they saw the car snaking around the area near them and watched as the headlight moved through trees in the distance before they heard a loud bang and screaming. 'It shook us for a while,' one of the campers who rushed to help said. Bragger died of her injuries at the scene. The driver and a 17-year-old boy were seriously injured and taken to Bunbury Regional Hospital. An 18-year-old boy and two 16-year-old girls also suffered minor injuries. Bragger's family 'are now left broken and in pieces, lost and confused,' a GoFundMe fundraising for her funeral said. The fundraiser's organiser, Mekayla Cowcher, said she also hopes it will help ease the financial burden 'on her heartbroken family, who are unable to return to work as they try to cope with the overwhelming grief of losing their precious Caitlyn.' 'No one ever expects something like this to happen, you can't prepare yourself.' Bragger's aunt, Danica Pierce, said her 'heart is seriously struggling to take all this pain'. 'You are going to be so missed, now an angel in heaven but way too young, my heart breaks.' Cowcher remembered Bragger as an 'outgoing' girl. 'She was a daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, aunty and friend. She brought a ray of sunshine everywhere she went. 'Known for her kindness, unique sense of humour, and devotion to her family and friends.'
