Justin Bieber backs Chris Brown after latter's arrest in London nightclub assault case
American singer-songwriter Chris Brown received a show of support from fellow musicians just days after being arrested and charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, in connection with an alleged nightclub attack in London. On Thursday, after the 36-year-old singer posted a photo of himself exiting a private jet on Instagram with the caption "Cook, remain humble", Canadian popstar Justin Bieber got into the comments section of the post and wrote, 'Welcome home.' Chris had been released on $6.7 million bail following a court appearance on Wednesday, according to NBC News. Several celebrities joined Justin in publicly backing the singer. Rapper Sexxy Red commented, 'They freed my man,' while musician Austin Mahone added a fax machine emoji—commonly used online as a shorthand for 'facts.' A post shared by BROWN (@chrisbrownofficial) For the unversed, the charges stem from an incident that allegedly occurred in February 2023. Brown was arrested on May 15, this year, at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester. Authorities accuse him of assaulting music producer Abe Diaw during a dispute at a nightclub, reportedly striking him with a tequila bottle. Abe described the confrontation in an interview with The Sun, saying, 'He hit me over the head two or three times. My knee collapsed as well.' Under the Crown Prosecution Service guidelines, a conviction for grievous bodily harm with intent can result in a maximum sentence of life in prison. As of now, Chris has not entered a plea. Despite the legal situation, Chris' tour plans remain in motion. He is scheduled to begin the European leg of his Breezy Bowl XX World Tour in Amsterdam on June 8. The UK portion of the tour kicks off in London on June 15—just two days after his trial is set to begin in the city. While the outcome of the trial remains uncertain, Chris continues to receive vocal support from fans and peers alike, as his case proceeds through the British legal system.

Chris Brown freed on $6.7-million bail in U.K. ahead of assault trial
Chris Brown has been released on $6.7 million bail after being arrested on May 15 and charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent over an alleged nightclub altercation in 2023. A British judge made the decision in Southwark Crown Court and revived Brown's world tour, which was in limbo after another judge ordered him to be held in custody after he was charged last week. Judge Tony Baumgartner said the 36-year-old singer could continue his tour, including several stops in the U.K., but would have to pay the $6.7 million bail to guarantee his appearance in court. Brown could be asked to forfeit the money if he breaches bail conditions, according to the BBC. Brown is accused of launching an 'unprovoked attack' on producer Amadou 'Abe' Diaw at the Tape nightclub in London in February 2023 while he was on tour. 'After a thorough review of the facts and information from the alleged victim, our office determined there was insufficient evidence to prosecute,' a spokesperson for the State Attorney's Office said at the time. Brown's lawyer, Kevin Napper, told Rolling Stone the singer was 'wrongfully accused.' Napper added: 'The state attorney conducted an extremely thorough, comprehensive and thoughtful review and analysis of the evidence (or LACK of evidence) and correctly concluded there wasn't a crime here. Mr. Brown is appreciative of the state attorney's professionalism and thorough review and looks forward to seeing his many fans in Tampa on Aug. 31.' Brown has a history of violent offences. Chris Brown makes bail after UK arrest as world tour looms Show Caption Hide Caption Chris Brown arrested over 2023 incident in London Metropolitan Police arrested Chris Brown in Manchester, England, on May 15 for an incident that took place in London on Feb. 19, 2023. LONDON — Chris Brown was granted bail by a London court after being charged with assault earlier this month. Brown, a hip-hop singer with a long and complicated legal history, was arrested and charged May 15 with inflicting grievous bodily harm in what prosecutors said was an "unprovoked attack" in a London nightclub in 2023. The singer, 36, has not yet been asked to enter a plea. He was not present at the U.K. courthouse when Judge Tony Baumgartner granted him bail on May 21. The bail may prove incredibly important as criminal proceedings could conflict with Brown's upcoming tour. The singer's Breezy Bowl XX World Tour is set to begin June 8 in Amsterdam with support from fellow R&B singer Bryson Tiller. Chris Brown says he was disinvited from NBA All-Star Celebrity Game due to controversies Police confirmed that the arrest was related to an alleged 2023 assault, as described in a lawsuit previously filed by music producer Amadou "Abe" Diaw. In October 2023, Diaw sued Brown for allegedly "beating him over the head" with a tequila bottle at a nightclub in London, according to a Los Angeles lawsuit reviewed by USA TODAY. Early on Feb. 19, 2023, "while traveling for his 2023 'Under the Influence' Tour ... (Brown) brutally assaulted (Diaw) at TAPE nightclub in London. Wielding a large bottle of Don Julio 1942 Tequila as his weapon, Brown inflicted severe and lasting injuries on (Diaw) when beating him over the head with crushing blows," the lawsuit alleged. "As (Diaw) lay unconscious on the floor, Brown continued to ruthlessly stomp on the defenseless (Diaw) for approximately 30 seconds. (Diaw) ended up in the hospital with lacerations on his head and torn ligaments in his leg." Chris Brown arrest, charge follows documentary legal drama Brown's arrest in the U.K. comes months after the singer took legal action following the release of a documentary that explored his alleged history of violence. In January, the singer-songwriter sued Warner Bros. Discovery and several others for their role in the production of "Chris Brown: A History of Violence," a documentary film chronicling Brown's alleged pattern of abuse. He is seeking $500 million in damages, alleging libel and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Chris Brown sues Warner Bros. for $500M over 'A History of Violence' documentary Brown's star was heavily tarnished in 2009 when fans learned that he had assaulted then-girlfriend Rihanna on the night of the Grammy Awards. Photos showing Rihanna bloodied and bruised after the attack were leaked to the public at the time, forever altering Brown's reputation and kicking off more than a decade of legal troubles. In 2017, a restraining order was granted to ex-girlfriend and "Claws" actress Karrueche Tran, mandating that Brown stay away from her after she alleged that he was abusive toward her. Then, the following year, an anonymous accuser represented by women's rights lawyer Gloria Allred sued Brown, alleging he had trapped her in his home and forced her to perform sex acts for his friends. In 2019, the singer was accused of raping a woman in Paris, but released without charges. This was followed by a July 2024 lawsuit, which alleged Brown and members of his crew severely assaulted four men after a concert in Texas. Chris Brown expected to enter plea deal in UK assault case ahead of June court hearing
Chris Brown is expected to enter a plea deal related to a 2023 alleged assault in London, involving music producer Abe Diaw. The case, currently under Southwark Crown Court, stems from an incident at Tape nightclub in Hanover Square, Westminster, where Diaw claims he was struck multiple times over the head with a bottle. The reported injuries required hospital care. Brown, who remains in custody following a denied bail application on May 16, will next appear in court on June 13. The expected plea deal comes amid ongoing speculation over his legal strategy, with few confirmed details released ahead of the scheduled hearing. Abe Diaw filed a civil suit in October 2023, alleging assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Named as co-defendants are Live Nation, Sony, RCA Records, and Dallas rapper HoodyBaby. The case adds to a growing number of legal issues facing the R&B artist this year. This legal turmoil has also severely disrupted Brown's Breezy Bowl XX World Tour, which was set to launch on June 8 and run through October 18. With Brown detained in the UK, his entire tour schedule is now at risk. Further updates, including the terms of the plea deal and implications for his ongoing projects, are expected following the June hearing. The outcome could mark a major turning point for Brown's career and his ongoing legal entanglements.
