Justin Bieber backs Chris Brown after latter's arrest in London nightclub assault case
American singer-songwriter Chris Brown received a show of support from fellow musicians just days after being arrested and charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, in connection with an alleged nightclub attack in London. On Thursday, after the 36-year-old singer posted a photo of himself exiting a private jet on Instagram with the caption "Cook, remain humble", Canadian popstar Justin Bieber got into the comments section of the post and wrote, 'Welcome home.'
Chris had been released on $6.7 million bail following a court appearance on Wednesday, according to NBC News. Several celebrities joined Justin in publicly backing the singer. Rapper Sexxy Red commented, 'They freed my man,' while musician Austin Mahone added a fax machine emoji—commonly used online as a shorthand for 'facts.'

For the unversed, the charges stem from an incident that allegedly occurred in February 2023. Brown was arrested on May 15, this year, at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester. Authorities accuse him of assaulting music producer Abe Diaw during a dispute at a nightclub, reportedly striking him with a tequila bottle. Abe described the confrontation in an interview with The Sun, saying, 'He hit me over the head two or three times. My knee collapsed as well.'
Under the Crown Prosecution Service guidelines, a conviction for grievous bodily harm with intent can result in a maximum sentence of life in prison. As of now, Chris has not entered a plea.
Despite the legal situation, Chris' tour plans remain in motion. He is scheduled to begin the European leg of his Breezy Bowl XX World Tour in Amsterdam on June 8. The UK portion of the tour kicks off in London on June 15—just two days after his trial is set to begin in the city.
While the outcome of the trial remains uncertain, Chris continues to receive vocal support from fans and peers alike, as his case proceeds through the British legal system.

Weeks after shipwreck, Kerala Police registers criminal case against European shipping company
The Kerala Police Wednesday registered a criminal case against global shipping company Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) in connection with the capsize of its Liberia-flagged MSC ELSA 3 last month off Kerala coast. This comes nearly three weeks after the Liberia-flagged MSC ELSA 3, a 28-year-old vessel, capsized around 25 km southwest of Alappuzha while sailing from Vizhinjam port in Thiruvananthapuram to Kochi. The ship, which went down on May 24 with more than 600 containers, was carrying hazardous cargo apart from tonnes of marine diesel fuel. The FIR was registered at Fort Kochi coastal police station against the owner of the European company MSC ELSA 3, the ship master and the crew members following a complaint from the general public identified as C Shamji, who hails from a fishing village in Alappuzha. The case was registered under sections 282 (rash navigation of vessels), 285 (dangerous obstruction in a line of navigation), 286 (negligent conduct involving poisonous substances), 287 (negligent conduct with fire or combustible matter), 288 (negligent handling of explosives) and 3 (5) (acts of several persons for furthering a common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Several containers of the Liberia-flagged MSC ELSA 3 got beached along the Kerala coast. Besides, waves had deposited nurdles (plastic pellets) along coastal areas of Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram. Besides, small patches of oil slick were reported along Alappuzha coast, raising ecological concerns. The FIR said the ship master and the crew were aware that the vessel had dangerous and inflammable cargo, but they navigated the ship in a 'very negligent manner' endangering life and property. The hazardous cargo released from the sunken ship had allegedly caused damage to the environment and adversely affected the fishing sector. Besides, the containers which fell off from the ship had allegedly caused obstructions in the shipping channel, which is used by other vessels. After the incident, the state's Opposition and fishermen organisations have been blaming the ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist) government for its reluctance to register a case against the shipping firm.

MEA takes up ill-treatment of Indian man at Newark airport with US
India has raised with the US an incident of an Indian man being handcuffed and allegedly treated like a criminal at the Newark Airport, official sources said on Wednesday. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) raised the matter with the US embassy in New Delhi, they said. Videos of the Indian youth being pinned to the ground by US authorities at the Newark airport have gone viral. The Indian embassy in Washington DC and the Indian Consulate in New York have also been in touch with the US authorities to ascertain the details of the case, the sources said. "We have so far not received any details about the incident or the circumstances under which he was restrained, the flight he had to board or boarded and his final destination," said a source. India is continuing to follow up on the matter, the sources said. The incident of the Indian man, being "handcuffed and allegedly treated like a criminal" was filmed by an Indian-American, Kunal Jain, who said he felt "helpless and heartbroken".

Haryana youth seen handcuffed in Newark airport video had tried to enter US illegally, to be deported
Two days after a video posted on social media showed a young man 'speaking in Haryanvi accent' being manhandled at America's Newark airport – in handcuffs and pinned to the floor – it has been ascertained that the individual belongs to Haryana and had entered the United States illegally. He has since been admitted to a medical facility, as per sources. 'Our Consulate in New York has ascertained that the individual who belongs to Haryana had entered the US illegally without a valid visa and was being deported back to India as per a court order,' said sources in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Wednesday. 'During his transit in Newark, on finding his behaviour not conducive for travel, he was restrained and admitted to a medical facility,' the sources added. A day earlier, the MEA had formally raised the matter with the American Embassy in New Delhi. Meanwhile, the Indian Consulate in New York has also been in touch with the US authorities to determine the details of the incident. 'Once he is fit to travel, the individual will be deported to India,' MEA sources said on Wednesday. Posted on X by Indian-American entrepreneur Kunal Jain, the videos and photographs showed an unidentified young individual handcuffed and crying at the airport on Sunday night. Jain had tagged the Indian Embassy in Washington, DC, and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in his series of posts. Taking cognisance of the videos, the Indian Consulate in New York said on Monday evening, 'We have come across social media posts claiming that an Indian national is facing difficulties at Newark Liberty International Airport. We are in touch with local authorities in this regard.' Photographs and video clips shared by Jain show the young man being restrained by officers from the Port Authority Police Department (PAPD), the agency responsible for law enforcement across major transport hubs in New York and New Jersey.
